Chapter 17 - Bayonet
...okay, so they collectively are evil bastards. But there also seems to be a bit more to it than that. Or, perhaps more correctly, they aren't the only evil at work here, given that we've seen a private corporation with TSAB ties mass-producing copies of the shit that makes Eclipse Drivers as OP as they are. ...That said, it's pretty obvious that Curren and Veyron were the duo that Touma saw in the aftermath of his hometown's destruction.
...heh. Curren's got balls, taunting Hayate with a video like that.
WAFF panel of Touma and the Nakajima family is WAFF.
Also, Continuity Nod to the then-concurrently (and still)-running ViViD series. Also, we FINALLY get a proper indication of how old Touma is - namely, two years Vivio's senior. ...I totally forget how old Vivio was in her series. What, ten? ...which would mean she's twelve now, so add two years on top of that and Touma's fourteen... SOMEBODY CHECK MY MATH PLZ
And the chapter closes with more Nakajima and Touma WAFF.
___________
Chapter 18 - Cross Encounter
MOAR EXPOSITION!!! The Hückebein can apparently somehow suppress the killing impulse, but not the impulse for destroying stuff. Observation: just because they can, doesn't mean that they actually do.
That said, Hades Vandeim is an ass.
Also, I gotta admit. I'm kinda liking Arnage. She's like a cross between anti-Vita and anti-Arf.
_____________
Chapter 19 - Cross Encounter II
...Yeah, really liking Arnage.
...poor Fevus. She deserves better than these sick fucks. ...well, probably.
And Arnage is interested in having Touma mediate between MS 6 and the Hücks. ...you say that, Arnage, but I really don't know what there is to mediate.
______________ Chapter 20 - Next Door
So apparently, this begins a second story arc. ...okay, I guess I can see that, even though quite a bit of the last one hasn't been resolved yet. Let's see how this goes.
Curren is remarkably insistent on being Touma's Big Bad Friend, isn't she.
Signum's out of the hospital now, and - oh god. The newbie trio get to train with her, Agito, and Rein. ...the newbies are so very fucked.
Oh, hey, it's Vivio. With her Device in that goddamned bunny suit. ...ah, whatever. Her preference.
VANDEIM YOU SMUG BASTARD
_______
And now we are at the point where I need to actually start reading it again, because - alas! - it is nearly over.
Man, And here I was thinking Touma is 17.
That's what I thought at first, too, since in the TSAB's wanted announcements he was described as being "in his late teens".
That said, it could be a retcon (he originally was meant to be 17, and then was unoficially de-aged in light of his lack of insight on certain matters, or for other reasons), or a mistranslation.
Also, what's your beef with Sacred Heart/Chris being a plush bunny device?
If he has problems with Chris, he's going to have problems with Teo.
Probably the same as most people who have issues; it's really not cool compared to the other stuff that's been a device and the justification is kind of weak; most Device storage modes are already really inoffensive and suited to be worn as jewelry.
Nous restons ici. It's acceptable with Vivio, as she probably likes bunny plushies anyway. Einhart on the other hand...
re:issues with Kris: call me old-fashioned if you must, but I'm used to Devices being of a similar sort to Raging Heart and Bardiche (and Mach Calibur): AI-posessing gemstones that light up when they talk, and can even be worn as fashionable jewelry when not in asskicking mode.
And yet Vivio hides her Transformation Trinket in an allegedly adorable bunny suit, almost like she's ashamed of it. Nor do I recall any instance of Sacred Heart/Kris ever being permitted to speak, either. For shaaaaame, Vivio - your mamas taught you better than that!
Vivio didn't design it.
It was custom-made for her.
....and now you all know how friggin' long ago it was that I last read anything from Vivid.

I'm not exactly sure who made it. I think it was Shari (or the other mechanic/engineer/whatever), but either way the design and specifications were supposedly decided by Nanoha.
The bunny exterior is explicitly stated to be just for aesthetics, since again, Vivio likes stuffed animals. Remember one of those eyecatches from Strikers with Vivio being surrounded by stuffed animals? One of which looks like a familiar looking ferret.
Strangely enough, everybody can understand Kris just fine even if he doesn't speak.
Kris incorporates Wolkenritter Mental Link Technology.
...so the Bureau actually is studying the Book of the Night Sky. Hmm...
Nous restons ici.The Wolkenritter have Mental Link Technology?
They're beings made of pure magic. They have the same telepathy as all the other mages.
"Yup. That tasted purple."The early segments of A's show them coordinating without being able to see each other or explicit telepathic contact. Other mages are never shown doing this; even Nanoha's telepathic cry for help is actually shown in the same scene, as are any other telepathic communications the plot feels are important. We almost never see the Wolkenritter explicitly use telepathy with each other, but they seem aware anyways very often, as Hayate usually seems aware of them in turn; witness Striker S where she was able to locate Vita aboard the Cradle without speaking to her and without any apparent effort.
The Wolkenritter seem to have something special, something that does not work like the telepathy of other mages. And they are, themselves, technology, even if it does an impersonation of a human as good as makes no difference.

Nous restons ici.Ok, whoever's doing the character design definitely hates the Hayate family, there's no other way to explain their design being so off (especially when other character designs are anywhere between "fine" to "pretty good").
The artstyle of the mangaka is a little odd. They're basing their character designs off of the mangaka's it seems.
Tha manga's art style still makes Hayate look good. The anime on the other hand...
Vivid 08
- Sister Chantez makes an appearance, and the ensuring short spar was good to watch. They did, however, change Chantez' character description from Vivio's POV to Chantez'.
- Otto and Deed take bodyguarding very seriously. Deed apparently knows shibari binding spells.
- Einhart gets an new Transformation Sequence with the acquisition of Teo. Unlike Vivio's transformation, it looks weird seeing the kitten plushie spin around while Einhart does action poses.
- Vivio lists her weakness as a Fragile Speedster. Makes sense, considering that if she even had half of the power she possessed in Strikers, she'd be curbstomping people in the tournament.
- Training Montage
- Miura's mantra is "get close enough and kick," yet she didn't kick her opponent.
- Next episode is probably the proper introduction of the veterans.
Hehe, watching the spar between Chantez and Vivio made me realize how much I enjoyed it. Also, the music used there was nice. And it reminded me of this.
Teo, now a hundred times cuter.
Because everything's better with cute kittens.
For those who had been following Nanoha Innocent, somebody decided to pick it up and translate the next chapters. Apparently, this good soul is a newbie at scanlations, but I've read his/her work, and aside from the minor typos, it was good.
Also, bless this person's soul for picking up Innocent. Maybe I could drop by her blog and ask her to translate Vivid.
