Awesome. Sadly, I was a bit distracted by the "10 Sexiest Asses In Video Games" posted on the far side of the page, which I promptly proceeded to view out of curiosity after reading the Ninja Gaiden article.
Teacher's pet.: Pillars of Moral Character.Might check it out.
Watch SymphogearBabes. Blades. Blood. Bounce.
... Bappy.
Yes. indeed. Maybe Team Ninja will take a few pointer from Bayonetta in the Rule of Cool scale.

Watch SymphogearThe first two games seemed to adhere pretty strongly to the basics, assuming that "basics" means "killing ninjas and/or demons with swords."
For me, back to basics would mean a long series of "Ryu! Irene! Ryu! Irene!" cutscenes.

Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google?Wow, blood! It's like I'm really back in 1993!
Ryu's eyes weren't always yellow were they?
Well, now I have to finish Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 soon...
The "Unmask" tells me that that isn't Ryu.
Jonah FalconI hope so, cause that means we'll get a fight with an actual Ryu clone. It would also mean that the 3rd title in both the NES and current generation Ninja Gaiden games have fights that pit Ryu against himself.
Hype meter rising.
The only thing Ninja Gaiden Black lacked was character fleshing and a good story. If they can keep that awesome gameplay while improving it and add those in, we may have a GOTY here.
Agreed. Ninja Gaiden 2 was an insanely satisfying game but a somewhat lackluster experience. I don't mind a quick and to the point plot, but having roughly ten lines of dialogue and still managing to be the year's lamest Cliché Storm is something of a feat. I'm not asking for shakespeare or even originality... But if you aren't bothering with the plot don't pretend you are.
Anyways, i'm assuming the yellow eyes mean Ryu's demon blood might be acting up. Hopefully his Badass Normal credentials won't start eroding. Because... Well... See above. Superpowered Evil Side is a cliche now.
Karma Meter would feel cheap.
Jonah FalconThe game won't be out until 2012 and only scant information is available, so I figure I'd better start complaining now, based on this interview: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/114/1146735p2.html
I should have more to complain about after E3... stay tuned.
Except [condescending response follows]. Because [sarcasm here]. You do understand [snark], right? POTHOLE TO SARCASM MODEComplaining about plot...whaaa? It's good they're finally aiming for that, let's hope they do it right!
But everything else...worries me.
Cautiously optimistic.
OK, we have a trailer which seems to show gameplay: http://www.warpzoned.com/?p=9101
As promised, I'd like to continue my breakdown of why this game will obviously be crap and retroactively ruin the entire franchise (including the NES and arcade games):
- Surprisingly, the plot/cut scene aspect doesn't seem very terrible. See how the woman seems to be wearing clothes and everything? Absolutely unprecedented. Maybe Team Ninja it outsourcing some of the development. And Ryu seems to have a deep, tough guy voice now? That doesn't suck either.
- Ryu is seen to be attacking a giant enemy spider's weak point for massive damage in what could be a QTE. Here's hoping they don't push that aspect any further than the Obliteration Techniques from NG 2.
- Game seems to go into God Of War-style slomo on certain hits — potentially a bad omen.
- The climbing looks neat.
- Only the katana is shown. Boo if we don't get proper weapon variety! The completely-different-playing weapons were one of NG's greatest strengths.
In conclusion, the trailer mostly looked cool, no doubt in order to heighten the inevitable disappointment later on.
Except [condescending response follows]. Because [sarcasm here]. You do understand [snark], right? POTHOLE TO SARCASM MODEThat's possibly the most pessimistic thing i've ever heard.
I'm sure we'll be getting plenty of new weapons. It's only a minute and a half of gameplay.
Clothed women? What the hell? Oh, right. Itagaki's gone. This may be a good thing. I'm sure the story will be miles ahead of 2 but anyone that thinks there won't be more than an Excuse Plot is kidding themselves. I'd love to be proven wrong on this front.
Personally i'm surprised Ryu's hacking up Western Terrorists instead of fellow ninjas or hapless soldiers this time. Maybe they'll actually deserve Ryu for once.
Also, it needs to be said... Blood is back! Hooray! And it's spurtier than ever! I have NO idea what they where thinking with Sigma 2.

re: the lack of blood in Sigma 2, my hunch is that it had to do with the new playable characters — they didn't want their pinup dolls getting mixed up with all that dismemberment.
Except [condescending response follows]. Because [sarcasm here]. You do understand [snark], right? POTHOLE TO SARCASM MODEIt's intriguing to say the least. They have my interest. Whether or not they can keep it remains to be seen.
So, Ryu gets a new VA each game? Huh.
Ryu is back.
