My condolences to her family and I hope justice is brought to her murderer.
And so young. ;_;
Her ex-husband has strong evidence to be the murderer.

Fate Kaleid Biyori. A fun result of the fact that both series are airing this season.
If you don't mind wading through some heavy-duty academese, this article on the history and politics of the magical girl genre by Kumiko Saito of the Association for Asian Studies has some pretty interesting stuff in it.
What's precedent ever done for us?You just reminded me of this one other article that used science to come up with a plausible reason why nobody attacks a magical girl mid-transformation. It's not that Transformation Is a Free Action, it's that it's 100% suicidal for any spectator to dare to step into the pillar of light that's holding up the magical girl as she transforms.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Okay, then why doesn't the magical girl use it as an attack?
Because Magical Girl heroines are usually ditzes?
So you're moving the stupidity of the villains to the stupidity of the heroes?
It would seem as if said pillar of light would be far too close-range an attack. There's also the huge risk that comes from approaching the powerful villains without any defensive buff you'd get from transforming.
I always just assumed that magical girl transformations were instantaneous, and that transformation sequences are for the audience's sake.
Several series have shown otherwise, though that may be the case in others.
The first season of Pretty Cure for instance shows Kiriya watching the pillar of light as they transform.
Watch SymphogearDrop the transformation and put it back up again instantly. Allow the villain to grab you and then boom lasers. If they're flying or on top of a building and your transformation sequence brings in a pillar of light, just get below them.
These magical girls just lack inventiveness when it comes to stripper magic.
On the other hand, in the same season, they do so in mid fall to prevent themselves from getting hurt in a mirror dimension.
Watch SymphogearWell, no, magical girls typically aren't known for using their powers creatively.
I remember a photoset on Tumblr of what I think was like an idol variety show or something (like the Morning Musume show where they do challenges and stuff), and some guy's talking about how it's been calculated that the energy produced by a magical girl transformation is like... a ridiculously powerful amount.
To the point that if an enemy tried to break the transformation, they would be vaporized instantly.
Personally, I think the instantaneous/real-time transformation thing is dependant on individual shows and their universes. Not exactly being a big watcher of the genre, though, I really can't be sure.
Oh that one. I think it was brought up in the pretty cure discussion at least a few months ago. Too lazy to dig for it though...
Ah,looks like the I Cant Understand What My Husband Is Saying manga updated. No translation yet.
The mangaka is quite the busy fellow. Not even sure how many series he's doing now.
Secret SignatureI got in touch with Cirno 9 Baka (the scanlator of a couple of Kyoushinsha's other series) to see if he could look into it. Well, nothing definitive but it's likely he'll undertake it.

Mari Okada's writing the new Gundam. Can't wait for incest, psycho lesbians and crazy NTR love dodecahedrons.

A US channel Chiller is adding a new anime block [1]
Do you think this is a sign that anime might start showing up on tv more often again?
well, this is an interesting development.
and let me just say i love your avatar. that's Joseph, right?
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
Holy crap, that's terrible.
