I spoke too soon. CR's simulcast of Titans is now available.

(I hope they don't do gendered insults.)

[up][up]Really? I heard that gg's subs for it weren't that good and Commie would be decent if it wasn't for that whole "eoten not titan" thing.

[up] Commie's problem wasn't just the eoten thing. Their dang fancy title animation freezes on a lot of people's computers.

My opinions regarding "The Eotena Onslaught": The whole "Titan is definitely not an acceptable translation for Kyojin" thing is a load of horse hockey, claiming that you should know better about the name of the work than the actual author is arrogant as hell, and no matter your train of thought, changing a perfectly understandable English word to an obscure Middle-English word in the name of "clarity" is A. extremely pretentious and B. incredibly ironic.

Looks like Commie really gave up on Eoten. Though I won't verify. There's word that Commie 10 and 11 are Eoten-less.

But since CR simulcast is... 2 hours after premiere now - am not going to be using gg either.

I wish it was getting an anime adaptation instead. Well, hopefully this doesn't rule that out.

Love Live! is getting a second season... next spring

I think that's the longest time between a season being announced and actually airing I've seen

I must admit, if I ever knew Super Dreadnought Girl 4946 was this funny, I would've started reading ages ago. [lol] I mean, really... "EAT ME!" I broke out laughing even though I already predicted the line correctly before reading the page!

EDIT: ... Zeno. Really now, couldn't they have thought up a better pun? Or even just used the "replace one or two random letters with blank circles" as pseudo-censorship to satisfy legal concerns?

I've been watching X1999 but since I just finished Princess Tutu, I keep thinking of CLAMP as the real antagonists, every time something bad happens because destiny says so.

Conclusion: Trying to understand Takumi will do your head in.

Observation: It's called Chaos Head, I don't know what is going on in this guy's head, I don't know what exactly is real, all is forgiven Satou you come across as very sane.

Actually that's kinda clever keeping the audience uncertain too.

So I can only assume people hate the anime either because there isn't enough time for the later shift to heavy plot to be pulled off smoothly or they had to cut too much of the plot.

I suppose they might just hate Takumi though. Note I've only watched like 2 episodes.

Takumi is hard to understand? I thought he was really, hatefully easy to understand, which is kind of the problem.

Oh, and I don't know about the anime, but the VN sucks too. Honestly, I think it would be improved by cutting out a lot of the crap in the middle.

From what I've heard, the anime starts off good but then gets, like, hilariously cruddy. So that bit where you've only watched two episodes might be the issue here. Or not.

Finished it. [up] That was kind of my impression.

After the few episodes every backstory is shallow and every plot point is vaguely introduced so you may know what's happening, but not why or how much weight to give it. The powers are really quite vaguely defined, especially in terms of latter limits.

The show just had this problem explaining things too. But even putting that aside, I'm now convinced Nitro+ didn't actually know what science was until Steins Gate. I have trouble believing the VN would lack these flaws competently, and I'm not at all tempted to play it to find out anyway.

What I liked was the concept which was more interesting than Robotics Notes at the very least and the final battle was actually pretty decent for about 2 minutes there, especially considering what a mess the delusions made of on-screen continuity.

I think Takumi's hard to understand in the same way Shinji is, in that I just don't get him. In spite of that, I barely hate him by the end, even though I think your dislike is pretty justified, Arha.

I understood Shinji and liked him. I understood Takumi and hated him until almost the very end, where I mildly disliked or maybe even tolerated him.

Anyway, the science of Chaos Head does kinda suck. It's not completely wrong since I think there's been some progress with stuff like artificial modes of vision or whatever but... Well, it's not like that's the real problem with Chaos Head. My dislike aside, it spends too long without getting anything done. It doesn't feel like the story has actually really gotten started until the climax.

Went back to watching Hell Girl, and after seeing the 20th episode of the second season, I want to strangle whoever wrote this travesty of an ep.

Two best friends get into a fight, so Juri decides to get a revenge doll against Mari and blackmails her into doing whatever she wants by threatening her with the doll. Sounds nice and potentially dramatic, but when I found out why Juri is doing this (she saw Mari discussing the possibility of leaving Juri as a tennis partner, felt betrayed, ran away and got into an accident which left her with an injured leg) it just seems like a borderline stalker-ish, needy overreaction, especially since she then forces Mari to report her every activities to her.

What really topped it off though was Mari's side of the story. She really wishes she could be friends with Juri again, so when Ren consoles her and Juri sees it and runs away in a fit, Mari, instead of thinking "somebody get this insane, horrible leech away from me", she just says "WE'LL SPEND ALL OUR LIVES TOGETHER CAUSE WE'RE BEST FRIENDS". And of course, Juri stops in the middle of the street (her leg fine, since she was only faking injury to guilt-trip Mari), ripe for a truck to kill her! When she's in the ICU, Mari uses the doll before Juri dies because "we don't know where we'll go if we die, but if I get sent to hell with the straw doll, you'll get there too because of your contract and we'll be together forever!" And they're both totally happy about it!

I don't even know where to start with this. It's just wrong on so many levels. From needy, bizarre fixations being labeled as great love and friendship, to "let's have a happy end because blackmail counts for nothing", I don't know which is worse. I just...one of them is a horrible obsessive and the other is a horrible idiot with a bad case of being ok with blackmail and emotional manipulation! What is wrong with these people?! Sad, since Hell Girl has been mostly an excellent show, but this episode feels like it was written by some awful shojo mangaka.

I can't use crunchy anyways.

Reading Bio Meat right now, and it's making me wonder. What is it with manga characters who are insanely cruel to the point of suicidal stupidity? It's widespread enough that I have to wonder, is that really how the Japanese view their society?

Honest question: Has anyone ever seen a situation in an anime/manga where a girl saves a guy being bullied by other guys by mussing up her clothes and then screaming "I'M BEING MOLESTED!" to attract the nearest police patrol and sic 'em on the "molesters"? Because I'm astounded that an h-doujinshi author would think of that plot before any of the authors writing mainstream manga.

The Rule of First Adopters. Porn does a lot of things first, especially in Japan, where it doesn't have anywhere near the same level of stigma as in the West.

Of course, for every clever new joke, h-manga gives us twenty tsunderes getting raped, so, you know.

Right. Man, what a waste of great potential.

On another note, considering the cases of Haruhiism and Madokamism, anyone know if there are other fan-deified anime/manga characters who either start off the story or end it either as a Cosmic Entity or with Cosmic Entity-level power (e.g. Reality Maker)?
