I never really know how to feel about bands that go years and years before releasing an album. On the one hand, it's a bade of devotion to one's craft, and is often emblematic of a band that are entirely sincere in what they do. On the other hand, the music often ends up quite weak and uninspired.
I guess we've just gotta wait and see how this album you've mentioned turns out. Seems pretty solid so far.

"I thought Djent was just a band" -Physical StaminaIn the space of a single day, both Shawn Drover and Chris Broderick have quit Megadeth.
Seriously.

Hopefully Chris will rejoin Jag Panzer. I always felt he wasn't showing what he was really capable of in Megadeth.
Only Death Is RealWhat would you say the average age of metal fans are? Though the fanbase ranges to kids in the single-digit range to people over 70, i'd say the average age would be around 25-35 (I happen to be 35 myself, and got seriously into metal at the age of 16, though i did like several more mainstream metal and hard rock tracks before then). It probably doesnt really matter, but it's an interesting study in demographics.
From my experience I'd say 16-46. Crossed paths with a lot of middle-aged metalheads.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."16 - 46. Tons of metaldads on facebook.
Only Death Is RealYeah, that sounds about right. 28 here, first started getting into metal around 17-18.
Somehow you know that the time is right.I would think something around 16 - 46, (which is probably pretty broad) as most people have said. For what it's worth, there are a lot of 25-34 year olds on MA.
So, the new Blind Guardian track is here...

It sounds riffier than the approach on At the Edge of Time, not full on 90's speed metal inflected BG but it's good to hear some of it back.
Only Death Is RealGuys, d00ds, brahs, ppl, halp meh.
So I really want to get meself some Megadeth this month, maybe tomorrow even, and I have NO idea where to start. I know it probably couldn't hurt to get the first 2 at least, but those are kind of rare and or only available in stupid expensive versions 'round here. This is what I know:
- Criptic Writings, Risk and Supercolider are kind of black sheep in the catalog
- It is slightly easier to find (for me) stuff that came not long before Writings and after Risk
- Endgame, Th1rt3en and Supercolider are usually easily available
So there you have it, halplskthnx
Note: A Sound of Thunder reviews coming before the year is over btw.
OH GOD WHY AM I A CAR!? - ForzareWell, if the first two are out of the question, you might like So Far, So Good, So What. Its more "mainstream" but Countdown to Extinction is also a good "introduction" album. I know everyone loves Rust in Peace, but i dont know if i'd reccomend that one to a newer fan. For newer stuff, The System has Failed and United Abominations are solid, as is Endgame (though YMMV on that one). Th13rteen has some good stuff (ie, Black Swan) but is too long, and i actually like Supercollider (especially Dance in the Rain), but i know thats a minority opinion.

I don't really have any new releases. Most bands I've liked either have extremely inconsistent turnouts, or aren't active anymore. Doesn't help there's not too many bands I've followed for more than 4 years or so.
Accidentally post in the wrong thread?
"I thought Djent was just a band" -Physical StaminaSo I found out that progressive thrash band Anacrusis has their entire discography available for free on their website. I've been interested in exploring the more technical side of thrash so I thought this might be a good place to start. I downloaded Screams and Whispers, which is their highest rated album on RYM, and so far I think it has an interesting sound. Do any of you know anything about them?
I've been wanting to get into Megadeth too, but I've been told to stay away from the remixed/remastered versions of their old albums, which are the only versions that are commercially available, so until I find a used copy of Rust or Countdown I'm holding off on them. I've also thought about downloading Endgame, which seems to be the most liked of their newer albums.

My personal take on the Megadeth remasters through Youthanasia:
- Killing is My Business... and So Far, So Good...So What? are very good and worth picking up.
- Peace Sells...But Who's Buying is pretty good too, but you may want to go on You Tube and listen to what was done with "Peace Sells" before going with it...across the board with the remixes, Dave emphasized the bottom end of Ellefson's bass and it sorta mutes the sound for that song's signature bass riff.
- Rust in Peace is all over the place quality-wise because of the piecemealing of songs and reworking of lyrics..."Holy Wars" and "Hangar 18" are fantastic, the rest is anywhere from good to meh.
- Countdown and Youthanasia would be really good if Dave hadn't murdered Menza's drum sound...they're very weak overall and the snare sounds like a wood block that's six feet from the mic. I can't listen to them without getting annoyed.
If an album is out of print, and there's no chance of you ever purchasing it, then just download it. Seriously. You're not supporting the artist in any way by depriving yourself of the listening experience, and if you do happen to buy it, the only person you're supporting is some collector who had absolutely nothing to do with the creation of the music...

"I thought Djent was just a band" -Physical StaminaSo, I was listening to Vocaloid metal and found this song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoziZmdNBOk (Parasite by Utsu-P)
I totally dig that guitar ton and I'm surprised but Vocaloid screamo sounds strangely awesome.
ERROR: Signature not loadedI had already thought about that, but I was hesitant because I am uncomfortable with the illegal downloading process for various reasons, and I was unsure if I would be able to find what I was looking for. However, I managed to find a blog with links to all of the original version of Megadeth's reworked albums, and I've started with Rust in Peace.
Manowar announced that next year, they're playing a concert in my city. We are so totally getting shitfaced right after it.
Just not at Danny Boy's place, since he's a dad now. That leaves Hairball's place and my pad.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisSo... after walking my way to an Anthrax song, I may be developing a taste for 80's thrash.
Any suggestions for this?
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. Not sure if this is the best place ask, but here it more or less says that Iron Maiden doesn't care about piracy, does anyone have a source for that (I have been searching in some of their interviews, but found nothing about piracy.
1 2 We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be. -KVExodus' Bonded by Blood", Megadeth's "Killing is My Business", and Testament's "The Legacy" are good places to start as far as debut's are concerned.
Anthrax is a good place to start because they are one of the more melodic thrash bands. Overkill is the band that I think sounds closest to Anthrax. Metallica's Ride the Lightning is the first thrash album I got into, and is a good place to start with them. You may like Megadeth, depending on whether you like Dave Mustaine's distinct persona (it took me a while to warm up to them).
So, I've just got my hands on the new Blind Guardian album. I'm definitely liking the sound- it's more like a refinement of their ealier albums than the move towards symphonic that happened after Nightfall.

Not as excited for new Primordial as I should be. The two preview songs are nice but they feel like a step back in some aspects. They're a lot more straightforward which isn't bad but it feels a more barren. New Blind Guardian though I feel enthusiastic for - that one preview they put up sounded pretty mean.
Atomic Aggressor, who have been here since 1985, are finally releasing their debut album early this December. It's very Sadistic Intent style death metal but it's pretty well done.
