    • Branch left his three older brothers when he could't take anymore of their arguing and treating him like a baby.
  • Tempting Fate: John Dory said at least he and his three younger brothers didn't fall, but ended up falling anyway, after a mishap in their concert.
John Dory: Hey, at least we didn't fall. After falling, we fell.

Thanks, Arivne.

Anne of Green Gables:

  • Fair for Its Day: While the series has its share of Values Dissonance, Anne is very ahead of her time. She's an ambitious, headstrong, intelligent, and creative Plucky Girl whose motivations do not revolve around the male characters, is depicted with realistic flaws that she overcomes, and embraces her femininity while never being presented as weak for it. While it's easy to take Anne for granted now, especially since she would inspire many female protagonists going forward, at the time the books was written, where sexism was rampant and women were not always portrayed in the best light, a character like Anne was incredibly bold and progressive.

YMMV.Anne With An E

  • Broken Base: Anne's Adaptational Angst Upgrade into a Broken Bird (like her having PTSD due to her experience as an orphan). Some feel it gives her more depth and is well justified by the darker narrative, while others view it as a betrayal of her cheerful personality from the books.
  • Older Than They Think: This is not the first adaptation of Anne of Green Gables to deconstruct its setting and use Deliberate Values Dissonance. The 1965 musical also does this to varying degrees, albeit more for satirical Black Comedy than the show's more serious approach

YMMV.Ultimate Spider Man 2024
  • Fandom Rivalry: One has quickly formed between fans of this comic and fans of the mainline Amazing book, since a large part of this comic's appeal for fans was seeing Peter Parker as a family man married to Mary Jane, something that many fans have wanted to see since the mainline comics have infamously avoided the topic (outside of non-canon AUs and Spider-Man: Spider-Verse), particularly since they infamously retconned Peter and MJ's marriage in One More Day.

YMMV.Thomas And Friends:

  • Hilarious in Hindsight: In "Thomas in Trouble", Thomas is shown to be against the idea of having cowcatchers installed onto him. Hilariously, when the Strasburg Railroad debuted the Day Out with Thomas events a decade later, Thomas ended up getting equipped with one due to American laws requiring steam locomotives to wear cowcatchers.

YMMV.Batman Damned:

  • Animation Age Ghetto: This is one of the reasons for why the infamous "batawang" scene got so much controversy, as many criticized it for being "inappropriate" for kids' under the assumption that the book is automatically for kids by virtue of being a comic with Batman, despite the comic being explicitly aimed at adults and Batman having skewed towards adult audiences for decades.

@ Cudjo's Cave

Written in 1863 and set in 1861, Cudjo's Cave is a novel of The American Civil War written during the war by anti-slavery author John Townsend Towbridge. At the outbreak of the war, those who oppose secession and slavery in a small Tennessee community find themselves being victimized by those who favor it. An odd quartet of allies, two white and two black, find themselves hiding in a mountain cave as circumstances gradually give them a chance to rally some like-minded neighbors and strike a blow against the Confederacy. The book is now in the Public Domain.

Tropes in the novel:

  • Badass Bookworm:
    • Penn is a Quaker schoolteacher who defiantly faces and calls out a lynch mob that comes after him even when his beliefs keep him from fighting back. And once he proves willing to compromise those beliefs for the safety of his allies, he is a deadly combatant.
    • Pomp got an education in medicine and other subjects in Paris when his first owner took him there, beat his second owner into the ground when the man abused him, and is a crafty woodsman who uses his skills against the rebels.
  • Secondary Character Title: Cudjo (an African-born escaped slave) has been living in the eponymous cave longer than any of his three companions but has less of an arc than any of them.
  • Sympathetic Slave Owner: Pomp was childhood playmates with his original owner, who later tried to free him on his deathbed (his brother and heir claimed he was delusional and refused to honor those wishes), and treated him with respect and kindness m. That being said, his Hate Sink brother, is right to point out that he had plenty of opportunities to free Pomp over the years but never did so until he was about to die and had no use for a slave anyway.
  • Taking You with Me: After being mortally wounded in battle, Cudjo drags Silas The Dragon, and a former overseer who abused him before his escape from slavery, off an embankment and into the river, drowning Silas.
  • Token Good Teammate: The Noble Confederate Soldier trope is very much not at play for the most part, with most of the named Confederate soldiers being sadistic fanatics, Just Following Orders thugs. Dan Pepperill is the exception, being a kindly moonshiner who was always gotten along with the local blacks, was bullied into enlisting in the Confederate military, and tries to help his friends in small ways as they oppose the secessionists.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Captain Sprowl has zero compunctions with ordering the wife of a prominent Unionist whipped to make her reveal where her husband is hiding. Due to a case of mistaken identity, his men end up whipping his own mother instead.

@ Cudjo's Cave

  • Fair for Its Day: The book is a powerful and nuanced antislavery and anti-Confederacy tale that is far ahead of its time in condemning the attitudes behind secession and having the non-stereotypical Pomp be an assertive and powerful black man who fights back against white abusers, acts as an authority figure to several of his white abolitionist allies, and survives, but the native African Cudjo is the subject of some Condescending Compassion, even from Pomp, for his tribal religious beliefs, and fails to survive the book.

Seth Rollins

  • Hypocrite: After becoming the inaugural World Heavyweight Championship in 2023, Seth vows to be a fighting champion and takes jabs at Roman's incredibly light work schedule while being the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. However, things took a turn when Seth suffered an injury in January 2024. Despite this setback, Seth adamantly refused to relinquish his championship until WrestleMania XL. Essentially, Seth is replicating Roman's selfish behavior by holding the championship hostage solely to revel in the prestige of headlining WrestleMania as the World Champion, without any obligation to defend his title.

For Star Wars Nihil character page under Krix Kamaret.

  • Missing Steps Plan: After being captured by Republic, he decides to take revenge on Marchion for abbadoning him and rebuild his life. To that end keeps sending messages to Republic Inteligence where he outIines his plan to defeat Marchion and bring peace back into galaxy in hopes they will accept it and recruit him. To put it lightly, plan is not very thought out and is filtered through his delusions, going something like: Return to Nihil and get close to Marchion in order assasinate him note, become great hero to the galaxy while all his previous crimes are swept under the rug, marry Zeen in ceremony that would be broadcated across the galaxy note, get elected for the Supreme Chancellor and lead Republic and Nihil into new era of peace. It’s no wonder Republic Inteligence didn’t respond to his petition before Crash broke him out.

  • Secret Handshake: Bruce and Clay seem to have a handshake when they reunited with each other after years of being apart. They also did a short version of their handshake when they witness Branch and Poppy share their first kiss.

YMMV.The Unlucky Tug:

  • Awesome Music: The soundtrack Isaiah Ferguson for "Edward's Saga" is an excellent cinematic reimagining of Mike O'Donnell and Junior Campbell's score. The biggest stand-out of the soundtrack is "Nothing Can Stop Him Now", a glorious mashup of Edward's triumphant theme from "Edward's Exploit" and a Thomas-styled version of "Nothing Can Stop Us Now" from The Little Engine That Could, which is perfect for Edward's most triumphant moment from the show.

Fandom Heresy:

  • Batman:
    • Go on, suggest that Batman should kill his foes, unless you don't want to be beaten to a pulp by the Dark Knight himself, on top of the fandom, as his Thou Shall Not Kill rule is one of his most defining characteristics. Even suggesting that he should at least kill The Joker is a good way to ignite fierce debates across the fandom (though you'll at least find companionship with Jason Todd).
    • Don't describe the Robins as Batman's "soldiers" unless you want to be beaten up by all of them at once. Most fans prefer to view them as Batman's sons or wards instead, especially since Bruce adopted most of them (and Damian is his biological son). In all fairness, some comics (especially those by Frank Miller) do go for this interpretation, but since many fans hate this interpretation, it's unwise to suggest you support it.

Fandom-Enraging Misconception:
  • Anne of Green Gables: Don't suggest Anne is in love with Diana unless you want to be hit with a slate by the fandom. The two are just friends and their romantic gestures with each other are strictly a product of the time, since Pseudo Romantic Friendships between girls were considered normal at the time of writing. Despite their Les Yay, Anne and Diana are both straight and would ultimately be engaged to men (Gilbert and Fred) in later books.

YMMV.Batman The Dark Knight Returns:

  • Older Than They Think: Carrie Kelley is not the first female character to become Robin. Julie Madison briefly wore the tights in Detective Comics #49 back in 1941.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Despite being Robin (and the first proper female one at that), Carrie Kelley has been criticized for being underdeveloped, as her background and personality before or outside of being Batman's sidekick is not explored much, making her a Satellite Character. The sequels would do a better job of giving her more time in the limelight, but her biggest trait remains that of Batman's sidekick. It doesn't help that unlike many other elements of TDKR, Carrie was never brought into the main DCU outside of minor cameos (largely because Tim Drake took her place, and Frank Miller has actively prevented her from being used in the DCU), leaving her as one of the least developed and utilized Robins.

Watch Dogs: Legion

  • Continuity Snarl: The Tomb of the Assassins is actually the Isu Vault beneath Buckingham Palace that previously appeared in Assassin's Creed Syndicate. However, the Vault's current appearance is significantly different from its previous depiction. In addition, the Templars didn't need to interrogate Lucas for the location of the Vault, as they had previously visited it fifteen years ago.
