New Chapter

Cassandra the Dust Eater was very literal. And Roxanne is not only a troll, but also very creepy. I didn't thought someone could surpass Ophelia, but damnhere we are. Aside from that, very little happen, except that the seven ghost will have to do all the work.

Haha, I wasn't expecting either of those reasons for their nicknames. Although the two-in-one backstory was reasonably interesting.

Bah, Cassandra's style turns out to be pretty weird and actually looks kinda silly. Although I suppose that's why she doesn't like to show it to anyone either. Her response to Roxanne's fangirl declaration was cute though. Roxanne's backstory is much more interesting (especially given that there is a slight parallel to Clare's Mega Manning as well)...this is the kind of psycho I can get to like. Well, until I'm horribly murdered, but it would be totally worth it.

Oh, and I did like the little detail that Roxanne switched her sword to a right-handed sheathed position the moment she got bored with Cassandra and confronted her. Roxanne's mix of Stalker with a Crush and You Kill It, You Bought It (along with her ditzy troll attitude) is actually pretty fresh and appealing. It's nice to have a new kind of psycho once in a while.

EDIT: Also, the Big Bang Theory and Mass Effect have forever ruined the name Uranus for me. I'm just glad she's not a significant character, or I would be giggling inappropriately every time her name is mentioned.

These fights are going to the point where the Seven Ghosts will definitely have to intervene.

Did we ever think that wouldn't have to intervene?

No but I thought the new generation would have a bigger role : they serve mostly as appetizers which is kinda sad for them.

Ironically, being fresh meat in Claymore doesn't give you the usual shonen boost, whereas it's one of the setting where it could easily be justified. Sucked to be guinea pig I suppose.

Yeah, there's no way they stand a chance without Deneve's team; as we discussed earlier. Even if the number 1s aren't as hax as Theresa, the group there at the moment is way outclassed (especially since the trainee twins have already been curbstomped by Roxanne).

Incidentally, I just noticed I completely forgot to comment on Rachel, Audrey and Nina all being de-feeted (feel free to groan now). I guess losing limbs is par for the course in this series at this point.

I wonder whether Roxanne will start picking up any skills in this fight though (and has she learnt Cassandra's "dust eater" ability)? If so, she may be the biggest threat in this battle. And I wonder whether Roxanne is actively murdering the warriors she's learning the abilities from - it would certainly fit her psycho-ness, but judging by the context of their deaths (what little we have from the flashbacks, at least), it seems hard to figure out how Roxanne could have murdered them without being implicated. Although it does mention the others were already onto her somewhat, and found her creepy too.

Oh, regarding flashback characters: Neideen can fight blind, too? Seems a bit too much like a copy of Galatea. But ah well. And Roxanne/Cassandra is just prime slashfic fuel...Cassandra blushing, Roxanne's psychotic fangirling, and the fact that one killed the other (would be most apt if Roxanne did so by penetrating her with her huge...sword). Not to mention..."sharing the same pillow"? Oh come on now, that's just too easy. (Cassandra really seems very un-stoic for a number 1 though. I think that's the first time we've seen one of the warriors blush so much and react so cutely without being actually a nutcase.)

@Nick: Do I want to know what the Roxanne song is? (I suppose I could google it, but I'm afraid.)

Fairly old song, rather catchy and ear wormish. The singer would randomly shout Roxaaaaaaaane!

Yeah, not much way around having the Ghosts appear, unless something nobody would expect happens.

Well, okay, it wasn't quite as bad as I feared. Say My Name is hardly uncommon in music. Uranus is the butt of far too many jokes already though. (Pun totally intended.)

You are forgetting Roxanne's non-stolen ability: to completely hide her presence from a target. If she temporarily hid her presence from everyone involved in one of those fights, she could easily interfere with her target's movements and let the Awakened Being kill them off.

The warriors aren't blind, though. In general, only a few of them rely on youki tracking to fight (Clare, Theresa, Galatea, Nina), the rest use normal senses. I doubt they'd miss a sabotage attempt in battle just because they can't sense her youki. (Also, I get the impression she can only do it to one person at a time, from the phrasing.)

Chapter 118

Good chapter on the whole, but very unequal.

I always like Raki acting like a badass. I never disliked the kid. Although according to the main page Raki is not well liked.

Well in the anime he is annoying, mostly because crying child are never pleasant, especially when you are supposed to sympathised with them. And at the end of the anime he was The Scrappy for me (no Clare, don't kill the genocidal monster while you still can. Think of Vegeta or something like that).

To elaborate on the good point and bad point of this chapter

_resurrecting too many people in a short time is very dangerous, and is undermining the touch Teresa's death give to the manga, especially when it is unjustified.

Good points
_the Myria's fight is quite something to watch. It seems like Myria is channeling Pieta's Clare°° except she seems to go for a battle of attrition.

_ While I dislike the cheap resurrection I must admit that the scene she provoke is worth it, and will probably provide the victory for the new generation. Since Love and Hate is immune to number 10's power (she can hide completely her yoky in battle from one opponent), I think we now know who will fight whom.

Never seen the anime.

Yeah I like her all I have is a hammer mode.

So Miria will be the second warrior we've seen so far to try a partial awakening like Clare, it seems? This ought to be good. (It would make an interesting parallel to the end of the Pieta arc if we get to see her partially awakened form.) Still, if Hysteria awakens as well, the power gap will still be there...but still, it was pretty cool watching the battle between the two Flash Step users.

For that matter, if any of the resurrected number 1s awaken (which I'm sure at least one will), they're in pretty deep trouble. (Hey, if all three awaken, we've got our replacement Abyssal Ones now. Congrats, Dae.)

I didn't expect Raftela to be the one to save Audrey though...when I saw Cassandra missed I thought it meant Galatea had decided to show up. (Well, I'm sure she'll play a role sooner or later though.)

(Incidentally, Cassandra's technique still looks stupid. But I guess that was kind of the point.)

Chapter 119

Cassandra gain more Woobie Back Story, Roxanne gain a lot of Jerkass point and confirm that she is Ophelia, but without redeeming quality (I tend to see Ophelia as an anti heroine who would do absolutely anything to slaughter Awakaned One, a dark mirror of what Clare could have become without Raki or friends), and Dae confirm his epic trolling (I bet he lets free three living abyssal one just to say U Mad ? )). Oh and I didn't expect who awakened, though in retrospect it should have been obvious.

in few words, good chapter.

Why do I have the sudden urge to re-write the lyrics to Roxanne? Maybe add in something about death and destruction for being a B**CH.

In other words: she has turned out to be a GREAT villain character. Actually, I want to kill her even more than I want to kill the Organization leaders. At least they don't (generally) take perverse pleasure in what they do.

By the by that guy is insane? Does he think he will survive if all three of them awaken?

Hoping we get to see a flashback to Roxanne's death, just for the catharsis factor.

Another thing, but the Roxanne/Cassandra interaction is more or less the same as the Myria/Ophelia (Cassandra is more naive, and Roxanne planned everything while Ophelia seems to consider Myria's awakening a stroke of luck), with the exception that Cassandra failed to make everyone understand that she was rebelling only against the organisation and Roxanne.

He's doing it For Science!. His personal safety is a small issue in comparison.

Anyway, so wow, Roxanne is a bitch. And life kinda sucks for Cassandra...to be honest, after the backstory reveal, I thought Cassandra might attack Roxanne and help take a load off the protagonists' hands. But then she starts awakening and the Oh, Crap! kicked in. (I guess I forgot the kind of series this was. Still, Cassandra is probably one of the cuter characters in the series so far...and also quite tragic.)

Also, I wonder why her wounds started reappearing. Your Mind Makes It Real? Or perhaps Dae's resurrection's effectiveness wears off over time?

Well, Cassandra might decide to attack Roxanne first. Awakened ones aren't mindless and she has a lot of hate for Roxanne. Course, she'll indiscriminately attack everyone as well so its still pretty bad.
