Sexism In Anime

It’s not an extreme case of Noodle People like say modern CLAMP Shojo stuff like Code Geass (it is Shojo) Xxx HO Li C but it’s there.

Sure it is.

I wonder how many guys would have a similar reaction to anime girls who are very skinny. Not many I suspect but who knows.

TBH, I find the Nami clones, and Nami herself, in One Piece, kinda gross.

Well we talking Noodle People skinny? Very very few works aimed at guys use that kind of art style. The only one that comes to mind was Oniichan No Koto Nanka Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara Ne.

Madoka, Sailor Moon, and Code Geass's female characters kind of creep me out in hindsight.

One Piece is gross, period.

Most guys not interested in anime I've talked with don't like skinny anime girls. Then again, most of them seem to believe all anime characters have shoujo eyes.

I think the only time where noodle people have worked for me is in Revolutionary Girl Utena, since it adds to how surreal and disturbing parts of the series are. With shows like One Piece though, the women's body types is just weird, with no actual reason for it. It doesn't add to the tone of the show, it detracts from it.

Except in Amazon Lily and when they're actually Gonk, where it makes perfect sense and fits perfectly.

So I wanna talk about Great Teacher Onizuka.

It's a show that's extremely frank about its sexism. We're introduced to the main character sitting below an escalator on a mall, peeping up girls' skirts. We're meant to percieve this as gross.

Later he's in public transport, and considers groping a beautiful young woman's butt. An older man beats him to it. He beats him for it. The girl later turns out to be a fellow applicant for a job, for which the older man is the boss.

That's only the first half of the first episode.

Thats kinda the point. He's an asshole that just happens to know how to teach with his street smarts.

And also extremely lucky, as any other place would have him thrown out on the spot.

He was even worse in His teenage days that never got animated.

He's like The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air if Will traded his wits and luck with women for strength and genuine physical badassery. And became a teacher instead of a nephew.

Savvy street-smart smart-ass turns stuffy folks' world upside-down. Is that a trope? Do we have this?

Blithe Spirit is the closest one I can think of.

Manic Pixie Dream Pauper? :P Though I think usually this sort of character is the protagonist, not a supporting character.

I literally cannot watch any show with a female majority cast because I assume it divulges into weeby otaku bait. On the flipside, I begun to watch a lot of shows that have a lot of male characters, but not just that, MANLY MAN CHARACTERS. FOTNS, Jojo, Cromartie highschool, Hajime no ippo, and Berzerk. The only series I've kept up with is Inuyashiki and Made in Abyss. Otherwise, the anime better have bulgy muscle clad men. It's become to the point that I only watch exclusively manly shows.

tl;dr I think I'm slowly becoming both gay and sexist.

So that's including Puella Magi Madoka Magica?

Why wouldn't that be included? There's enough bait there to go around. It's just wrapped in a Darker and Edgier flavour. Or maybe it's the other way around.

Gay Misogynist is totally a thing, you know. For when loving men and hating women goes hand in hand.

I wouldn't really equate hating otaku bait with being a misogynist.
