During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. " to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

.... recent proposals.
I'd say we don't use any of those images, I can barely see at all what is happening if I'm going to be honest.
Also, Shaq Fu doesn't have a CM lol
Now, I don't want to create a big discussion about this, but by no means does a character have to be a sociopath to qualify. They can be way too unstable and violent, temperamental to qualify as one, yet they can still qualify as a CM. Heath Ledger Joker, is a good example. It is made clear that the Joker is psychotic; he doesn't know his early life, he seeks to die, he is unstable and eager to violence etc. He is with other words psychotic enough not to be considered a psychopath, who simply has alot of lack of empathy and are most of the time manipulative and sometimes even con artists. Sociopaths are people who fake emotions in order to fit in, when in reality they can be delusional, sadistic, or whatever.

Thanks again Fried for letting me do my first ep on De Voe. I must admit it was hard but fun. Even if it didn't pan out.
Kevin Dewey HornI made it to have our classical discussions about this trope without messing up with the regular process here.
He didnt fail the heinous standard?

Watch me destroying my countryGood work! I should make an EP one of these days myself, given that I've been a lurker and occasional voter here for a few years now. I'm thinking about rewatching season 1 of Arrow this summer to try and do an EP on Edward Fyers, who I think just might cut it.
To my knowledge, based on my searching, Fyers has never been properly discussed. I guess things were different in this topic back in mid-2013.

Yes to Watts, Bishop, Stalker and Lucifer.
No to Thinker and Halo.
Anyway here is my write up for Mordo:
- Ultimate Super Villains: In the short story To The Victor by Ricard Lee Byers, in an alternate timeline, Kang Conqueror has conquered the world after nuking NYC and Baron Mordo has offered to be one of his lieutenants that would defend his throne from other super villains who would take it from Kang. Mordo quickly establishes himself as a vile person, wanting to kill protesters who were upset about Kang's actions and suggests Kang ban the news media and thinks racial resentment and genocide among the world's population is useful, because it prevents people from uniting to oppose Kang. Mordo has also established a cult (that is rumored to be sacrificing people by the thousands). Mordo suggests Kang defeat the Hulk, but then tries to abandon Kang use magic to sabotage Kang's armor, hoping that the Hulk kills Kang. When Galactus attacks Earth, Mordo flees, only to return to try to steal the Ultimate nullifier from the Inhuman Crystal, endangering the Earth. Mordo finally makes his move, he summons the demon Dormammu to Earth, who begins to destroy Washington D.C, with his demon minions killing civilians. Mordo launches a sneak attack on Kang, disabling his armor. Mordo plans to displace Kang with Dormammu, a nightmarish demon that would ravage the world.
Men, if you don’t wanna start a discussion about it, maybe not bring it up? I’m getting really sick of having to explain I’m talking about the fact they are covered in the trope, The Sociopath, I couldn’t care less what real life mental disorder they have.
Ayyyyyye, HDB buddy!

Popping in here quick for an update.
Firstly? Happy birthday to me!
Secondly, on a less fortunate note, my... leave is probably going to be extended a little while due to the fact my laptop's kind of on the toasted side and it'll be around two weeks until I get a new one. I'll mark my official return with a special EP and go from there.
Lastly? Here's Regal:
- Mega Man NT Warrior: Dr. Regal is the head of the evil organization Nebula and the Big Bad of the Axess season. A proud, villainous man selected by the godlike NetNavi Duo as a probe for human life, Regal sees himself as above humanity and schemes for the end of the world. Regal empowers the Darkloid NetNavis on their destructive campaigns through the Dark Chips, while slowly corrupting and driving all of them to insanity and degeneration through them and turning them against their leader ShadeMan.EXE, whom he later brutally kills. Regal forces his fellow Duo-selected probe, Ms. Yuri, to murder her own sister to prove her loyalty, and, in the climax of Axess, enshrouds the entire world in a dimensional area powered by the souls of tens of thousands of agonized NetNavis, using his new power to annihilate entire populated cities across the globe while proclaiming himself the herald of humanity's destruction. Returning as a digital entity in the following season's movie, Regal attempts to destroy the entire world yet again by using Wily's Spectrum program to digitize the planet while subjecting Lan's father to horrible torture, and tries one last time to destroy the world in Stream while betraying Duo and proclaiming himself a god. Dr. Regal is a monstrous man utterly in love with his own evil who sees it as his right to annihilate millions for nothing more than the sake of his power and ego.

Watch me destroying my countryHappy b-day, Scrags! Great writeup!
@Scraggle Happy Birthday btw... How old are you right now?
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."Happy Birthday, Scraggle!
Still can't get over how much worse Regal is in the anime here when he was already a monster in the games.
Happy birthday Scraggle. Great writeup.

Kevin Dewey HornHappy birthday Scraggle
Things are really about to get Fun around hereWow! That is a good writeup! Happy b-day, Scraggs!!!
Alright, it's official. I give up on Proctor. Writing him up neatly and concisely is impossible, and I'm just wasting brainpower on one of TV's crappiest villains. If anyone else wants to take a stab at him? Then all power to you.
Scraggle: Good writeup, there. Unlike Proctor, I can and will get Slur (re)written up within the hour to go along with Regal.
hey, Fried, can you send me the EP again? I'll take a stab
Proctor was really that bad (As a character)?

Watch me destroying my countryHappy Birthday Scraggle.
Every indication about Proctor I've gotten has been that every scene he's in can be summed up as, "Racist villain is racist." I don't think there's going to be anything particularly compelling with him. Some of his lines are just hilariously dumb too. If it's not worth the calories Fried, just don't worry about it and someone can take a stab at it... focus on things that are fun for you instead
To be fair, the season does have a lot of much more well-written complex villains. Proctor's just a pretty one-dimensional racist Hate Sink though, so uh...¯_(ツ)_/¯
That being said, I enjoyed him being introduced because waiting for his downfall pumped some much-needed catharsis into the season by that point, I felt.

I'm seriously curious now. As I haven't seen the show, only seen that it has quite alot of terrible reviews, could you give some examples of his dialogue?
edited 18th Jun '18 7:28:44 PM by MenInGreyToBlak
Don't remember the exact vernacular he used but when one of the heroes calls him evil for causing the deaths of numerous teens, he (referring to the fact they were black) says, "Well they were just going to end up on welfare anyways!" Like, it's pretty cringe levels of Narm.
Will absolutely agree the show itself was good and the other villains were more interesting.
I... didn't say there weren't? I said he's a boring character.
edited 18th Jun '18 7:41:12 PM by 43110
Eh, I dunno, there are totally people like that in real life.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."I know. Is just that Real Life is a crappy show with tons of Seasonal Rot. It can pretty good tho, especially if you believe that True Art Is Angsty.
I mean, Crappy politician is pretty boring to meet IRL anyway.

Maybe because nobody cared? Oh those poor Politically Incorrect Villains, no one care about them and are just cheap Hate Sinks.
