^Give the dub another try - maybe not a full episode, but just a clip or two.

Think of it as cantaloupe; it tastes weird, and maybe even bad the first time, but try it a few more times and the next thing you know, you love it.

Ah yes, the dub. Domon's voice actor did his job perfectly, keeping the hot-bloodedness intact.

I am quite fond of anything that has a giant robot dressed like Sailor Moon. But let me just say three words, one of which is repeated: SEKIHA LOVE-LOVE TENKYOKEN!

G Gundam deserves credit for bastardizing the Gundam series so much that it made a 180 and actually became watchable again, something I find most of the AU Gundams failed at.

Plus, it was so wonderfully ridiculous that even The Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy referenced it.

It pops up in 'Skarred For Life'.

Not an exact reference, but it's pretty obvious what they were thinking, especially since he was piloting a mech at the time.

I started watching that show out of Bile Fascination, then somehow failed to stop. It was weirdly entertaining in its own way, if just to see what craziness the show would pull out of its ass this episode. Nether Gundam should've had more screentime.

Hah - never noticed the reference in Billy & Mandy. And G Gundam is still by far my favorite gundam series. I just rewatched it recent - I actually started out on the dub on Toonami, although either the dub or the sub is excellent - I think I slight prefer the sub version, but the english voice actors did a really good job.

True.

The English dub grew on me. I first thought "damn, this guy can't do hot-blooded emotional screaming like Tomokazu Seki", but by the time Mark Gatha went "WITH THE HELP OF KYOJI!" I didn't care.

And I found it hilarious that both sub!Rain and dub!Rain did the same very suggestive noises when putting on the Mobile Trace System.

I also loved the english dubs. This was pretty much the only Gundam series I watched completely.

I only ever heard the English dubbed version, so I never noticed anything wrong. Should perhaps watch the subbed version to compare.

While the dubs are good, I find that very little can match the energy of Tomokazu Seki in full-on Hot-Blooded Large Ham mode.

Watched a bit of whatever Japanese clips I could find on Youtube. It's even more surprising to hear Tomokazu Seki almost whisphering. Goes to show he's suitable for more than one kind of role, I guess.

So I went back and rewatched it for a third time and i have to say that not only has it aged well, but G Gundam is so worth the rewatch

The funny thing here is that G-Gundam is a lot more faithful to the underlying Gundam themes when you look beyond the epic hamminess, attack-calling, building-kicking and love-powered-King-of-Hearts-summoning finishing moves WITH THE HELP OF KYOJI!

Another epically funny thing: Yuri Amano voices both Rain Mikamura and Mrs. Kozuki in Code Geass.

A lot more faithful than what?

I've gotta get a hold of the new manga some time, I've been hearing it's fairly decent.

For my money, it's still the best super robot anime ever.
