I've gotten a plotbunny while playing with my Minimates... I've gotten enough dialogue/flashes to make a sort of "trailer"...

-Back To The Future theme swells-

1985 was just the beginning...

T-800:Doctor Emmet L. Brown... Come with me if you want to live."

-Terminator percussion begins entwining-

Future Marty Mc Fly: August 29, 1997, they started. The machines turned, started a war against humanity. Billions died, Doc. Now, they have their hands on time travel... But so do we. It's a stalemate... Unless they can send a Terminator back and kill the man who invented time travel...

Doc Brown: Great scott!

Back to the Future: No Fate.

Just a power to go to a good home, but Offscreen Teleportation as a character's explicit power. She can teleport as much as she wants but if somebody is paying attention to her she can't. Some magicbabble about how their attention creates a low level psychic anchor that keeps her from using her powers.
I'm claiming this for...something. I don't know what yet but is a very good idea.

Like the angel statues?

I planned to write a fanfic called Seven Days to Live about what Nia Teppelin did with Simon during the last week of her life, with one chapter for each day...then I realized I had no idea what to have her do. And that what I had in mind would require a writer much better with painting details than I was.

...If I mention a really stupid idea for a Kingdom Hearts fanfiction or three, will I get a beautiful chorus of "Nooo! Don't do it, anybody", or what?

Depends on how stupid. Is it Organization 13 becomes a male dancing troupe and caters to bachelorette parties silly or What If? [character] did [action] because [reason]?

More like stuff like "What if it was more like a video game plot-wise?" E.G. a Keyblade master having a certain extent of time-space powers, where they, until they develop an awareness of the power, wake up at the last save point if their heart gets taken (with memory from after getting more dreamlike as time goes on, like a really vivid nightmare). Once they develop more awareness, they get to choose which one they restore to...but nothing after that point happened yet, and they don't actually get to change anything too radically (without things going insanely weird and killing them fast), and they have to die again to choose another point.

However, with experimentation, they might realize that they get to go as far back as the day they got their Keyblade...

Thus resulting in the further insanity of Sora as young-him keeps on blacking out at Save Points and waking up having had crazy dreams about what happens. Basically, what if Sora was the player of Kingdom Hearts from within the game as himself. Poor kid? ...Nah.

There's more, but that's the one I'm most likely to not write ever. Maybe somebody else can either use it or use its premise with another game. The thing about Kingdom Hearts (explanation stolen from somebody else) is it's basically what happened when Disney and Squeenix decided to make a few OCs to have a massive crossover with their various worlds, except Gary Stu Sora is so [[YMMV loveable]] and the game is actually pretty fun. But that leaves a lot of room for all sorts of speculation and insanity, so while I'm trying to tell my brain that my fanfiction thing was just a bad phase...

Edit: One other, sillier one is "What if Sora was a girl...and looked and behaved exactly the same?" Look at a screenshot or art of KH 1 Sora. Think about it too hard.

Dude(tte)! That's a little relieving. At least if I'm a crazy one I'm not alone in my insanity. What're some games you think it'd work well with?

It'd be really interesting in two of my favorite games: Zelda and Okami. Okami already writes it for you, a little, where if you "lose" against a plot-timer, your unhelpful fairy tells you he just panicked. Another one that would be interesting to write while sticking to save-point rules and New Powers as the Plot Demands (game demands) would be Boy and his blob. I'm a fan of indie games. :)

...I must confess that the only one of those I've actually played ever was a remake of the original Legend Of Zelda, and I gave up after over an hour of dying less than two minutes in. Heh.

Buuut from looking up Boy and His Blob I must say that were somebody to ever make a fanfiction of it, I'd probably check it out just on principle.

Also, it bears mentioning. Moocow 1452? Work Com -styled Apoc Com? I hope somebody goes for it.

And Back To The Future: No Fate = headscratching. It'd depend on who did it whether it resulted in lulz, Crazy Awesome, or Beyond the Impossible, or what.

On a slightly unrelated note, is there a thread for ideas you're considering writing even though they're terribly shameful and seem like a recipe for disaster? Since this is the one for putting ideas up for adoption.

Also, sometime I'm going to go back through my archive of ideas I won't write...after I locate it...and make a big post in hopes that somebody might find one of them useful. Some are more specific than others.

Yes. Although it may become overrun with concepts for half-realized fanfictions with a few things of the nature of very soft sci-fi and romance novels interspersing for flavor.

Since I pussied out of the last plotbunny I suggested:

Nazi Germany is surrounded by zombie Allies. Literal zombies and they're coming for Nazi brains.

It's a parody / inversion of the concept that giving the Nazis ebil mystic powers could make them any more evil than they already were and that, in this case, the dead are more of an avenging force than anything else.

The themes in it boil down to: Does giving someone black mojo or whatever make their actions any different morally? Is a horde of zombie Allies any less good than the real world Allies? Are dark-magic empowered Nazis any more evil?

Two entirely unrelated ideas:

1. Some form of Applied Phlebotinum makes respawning a reality, so wars are fought by the same group of guys dying in the same battles over and over and over until they're too broken to continue.

It's kind of like playing an FPS with the time limit and kill count set to unlimited, except you feel everything and can't escape.

Of course, if everyone had this bit of tech, then war would simply change to fit the new rules, so I was considering having only one country discover it, and tell the story from the perspective of a group of Elite Mooks who were the first test subjects of this new thingummy - just to explore how it would affect each member of the group to spend their lives bouncing from battle to battle, experiencing The Many Deaths of You firsthand (with full memories of each one), and being destined to kill stuff until they turn into PTSD casualties and are retired.

2. A superhero with the ability to point so dramatically he can make your fuckin' head explode.
