8.8/10 Man, sometimes you just come across a style you're just living for. The singer's voice kind of reminds me of Nina Persson of Cardigans fame in a pleasant way. The sonar sounds as part of the beat are a great touch too, given the band name. I went and listened to the original too, which I kind of found better, because the electronic bassline here is kind of detracting from the great arrangement.
Velvet Underground - Pale Blue Eyes (from The Velvet Underground album)

Joke? Why are you calling it a joke? You drew a picture of two dudes hugging and wrote "I love hugs!" on it.9/10: With their self-titled third album, the Velvet Underground showed that, when all experimentation and noise was stripped away, they were pop songwriters of the highest caliber. It's tender, fragile night-time music.
I'm not really a believer in calling certain songs the perfect anything, but if you asked me to name the perfect dream pop song, "Alison" would be up there. Beautiful, ethereal, atmospheric and captivating. 10/10
Charles Mingus - Goodbye Pork Pie Hat
Tastes better on the way back down.53/100 - Pleasantly relaxing and classy but jazz like this is maybe a little too background lounge music ish to make much of a lasting impression.
A fun, dynamic track with catchy main tune and expressive rhythm section, 4/5.
Spiral out, keep going.7/10. A nice pleasant song.
Incubus-Summer Romance(Anti-Gravity Love Song)
50/100 - Like the music you'd hear on an elevator mixed with the background of some advertisement for a distant sunlit vacation spot. Catchy and varied but also somewhat middling and languid.
Starts off very jazzy and relaxing, then abruptly ramps up the intensity and continues to hang in vaguely Canterbury-sounding territory until chilling out again at the very end. Not very original or memorable, but entertaining and well-made nonetheless. 7/10
Tastes better on the way back down.8/10: By my estimation, the third best song on Untrue ("Archangel" and "Etched Headplate" are tied for first). Ghostly and floating and currently grounded, like a cold, damp winter's night in London.
8/10. This was one of my favorites from RAM.
3/10. I can't get into this Russian R&B or whatever you call this.
Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate OST - Collapse (Phase 4 Theme)
Author.70/100 - Film score style bombast with big militaristic cadences and those ghostly choirs everyone loves although it somehow comes off as restrained. Whether that's a good or a bad thing is up in the air but the issue is that it never feels like it quite commits to what it promises, hovering around a few familiar themes and not quite delivering them with the raw gusto or finesse you need to make this typically work.
Chaos being put in order. The song's ragged structure and lack of a definite leading instrument create a strange, dissonant, triumphantly sinister atmosphere, 4/5.

Spiral out, keep going.Intricate arrangement, and I kinda would like to see this used as part of a movie score. On its own, I'm not sure it totally works, and I feel like it probably works better either in that context or in the context of the album it's from. I do like how it doesn't just stay as "piano + vaguely churchy choir" the whole time (like I was afraid) and actually develops into some interesting places. Really good, but feels like only a smaller piece of a larger whole. Staring at the sun but not getting spots in your eyes/10.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Strange but cool song. I wish it was a little longer. The guy singing has a nice voice. 8/10.

This feels like the theme song of a psychopathic serial killer living in a little beachside cabin, whose friendly smile and demeanour only barely hide the look in his eyes that tells you he's got bodies piled up in the basement. In other words, it's pretty much what you'd expect from Mike Patton's take on lounge and doo-wop. Very enjoyable indeed. 9/10
The Flaming Lips - Sleeping on the Roof
Tastes better on the way back down.[Sorry, new accounts cannot post external links.]
"I've been waiting, I've been waiting for this moment all my life, but it's not quite right."Very atmospheric piece, with simple, yet interesting piano and synth effects. enjoyable and relaxing. 7/10
Kissing Families - Silversun Pickups (I can't post links yet, but you can find it on You Tube)
"I've been waiting, I've been waiting for this moment all my life, but it's not quite right."Loved it. <3 Very nice nostalgic atmosphere, and the bass and cello are implemented perfectly. I didn't really notice the vocals, but they didn't irritate me either, so it's fine I guess? As a whole, it's a very nice tune.
Another metal instrumental.
Or if you don't want to listen to a 9 minute track:
Batzorig Vaanchig - Morin Khuur. Because why the fuck not.
Chose the second one. Boy oh boy, did I not expect to be so much into this. It's the idea of the voice as an instrument taken to its logical conclusion, and the range on this man is truly amazing. Eastern discipline at its finest, applied to music. (9/10)
Nonsense is better than no sense at all.
7/10. Decent funky indie rock song. Not much else I can say.
