Re: IRC.

All I know about IRC is because I wanted to download manga from some obscure scanlation groups some time ago and (X)DCC was the only option available.

Now I think about it, Kyon's bike only needs to look like a <400cc model. Its real capabilities could be way above that.

I don't think that is going to happen. IRC is a real-time-oriented tool and, IMO, the current forum scheme, peppered with tropes and other wiki-style devices, is better suited for our style of discussion.

I also remember the good old times playing X-Wing, 2nd gen. Pokemon and programing in QuickBASIC. I better stop talking about the past.

So... 400cc on inspection, but Haruhi and Nagato get to play around with it? Fun. Someone would have to tell Haruhi not to include heat-seeking missiles, though.

Then the line "Gravity Is a Harsh Mistress" is a no-no.

I'd be willing to bet that Yuki could get a hell of a lot more power out of 400 cc worth of displacement than your typical automotive engineer could. Kyon could also mess with the weight of the bike to improve its handling. Optimal acceleration would come from keeping the bike just barely heavy enough to not spin out. He might need a training session or two to really master the Difficult, but Awesome applications of this.

Maybe Kuyou's sexual needs will be demanding?

I wonder what Kuyou thinks about Kyon's Gravity Master gear? She helped him with something related to that during the Combine fight, right? (Something about throwing desks.)

I am reminded of one of the omake I wrote a few months back hinting at Kuyou's connection with gravity itself, but nobody seemed to catch it at the time. Too subtle?

@Specular: As you seem to be a CLI kind of guy, I'd point you towards irssi. CLI-based IRC client (and a pretty good one, too).

I like that approach. Maybe it's possible to use one of the Morph Weapon as an add-on device for the bike. In that way the engine's heat waste could be redirected and turned into energy, which could feed a gravimetric system build into the bike (just like the system installed in Kyon's skinsuit), making the above possible without burdening the energy reserves that much.

IMO, Kuyou would approve Kyon's taste on equipment.

I'm glad of Akane and Yuuto's Character Development last chapter (OB-6). Do you believe they are going to be told about the supernatural?

No, I don't. Not unless it becomes explicitly necessary to tell them. It's bad enough for Akane to know that Kyon's in a high-ranking, and therefore somewhat safe, position in the Yakuza. How do you think she would react to knowing that he's an integral component of the main defence against supernatural invasions?

I agree that "today" isn't a good moment to say it, but it's more of a thing of trust from Kyon towards Akane and Yuuto. Sure, Kyon probably won't tell everything but I think he'll feel the need to reciprocate the trust his patents put on him.

As a plus, it can start a subplot on Ryouko feeling the need to apologize to Akane and Yuuto. Note that she already acknowledged Akane loves Nonoko***

EDIT: I was thinking in Ryouko apologizing for trying to kill Kyon.

Trust or no, I'd keep from telling them until after everything with the Combine is resolved. I don't think Kyon has a pressing desire to Mind Rape his mother, so...

They don't know Ryouko exists, and as far as they know the events that transpired were a foiled kidnapping. Apologizing would also involve admitting that they framed somebody. While she feels remorse, apologizing would be a bad idea.

I don't know if I would tell them about the supernatural stuff, for reasons given in the movie Men In Black: "There's always an Arquillian Battle Cruiser, or a Corillian Death Ray, or an intergalactic plague that is about to wipe out all life on this miserable little planet, and the only way these people can get on with their happy lives is that they DO NOT KNOW ABOUT IT!"

I'm not talking about the "kidnapping" of Kyon's sister earlier that week, I'm talking about when Asakura tried to kill Kyon ending with she being "transferred to Canada" way back in the Melancholy canon arc.
