Because Kinkajou told me to.

So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?

My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.

I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

I don't know if I should say getting the second airship in VI, Auron's speech before killing Yunalesca in X, or Chapter 11's race scene in XIII.

Auron's speech kinda loses it's appeal when you have to watch it five times in succession.

Whups, wrong thread.

Anyway, I've mostly gotten to where I only have to restart once or twice (if even that much!) against Yunalesca.

I will always be thankful that Auron's mouth is generally covered in X, since the localizers could just have him say normal things instead of having to match the mouth flaps- There's a reason "you know?/y'know?" ends so many sentences in that game's script, desu.

I sure said that!

I never actually noticed X having that much y'know, y'know?

I always associated that verbal tic with Raijin, ya know?

The y'knows were bad enough, but then you had "withyunabymyside", which doesn't even have any lip flaps to match. Make the shot linger two seconds longer, for god's sake.

I really wish FFX HD had been redubbed, just so it didn't have all those "y'know" and "withyunabymyside" and all the problems FFX had being dubbed. But oh well, missed oppourtunity, I'd have happily settled for there just being an ability to skip cutscenes.

One of my friends linked me this. It seems that Final Fantasy XIV now has a free trial option. It's for 14 days of play and the level is capped at 20, and there are some other limitations (I recommend that anyone interested should read that FAQ). The biggest one (to me at least) is that if you want to use continue using a free trail character in the full game, you'll need to get the full game within 90 days of the free trial's expiration.

Props for the photorealism, but damn if that protagonist guy isn't trying his damnedest to tick off all the boxes in Final Fantasy Protagonist Bingo.

[up][up] For Noctis, at least the black hair is sort of new for a main FF lead, and being a prince is a welcome change from soldier, thief, athlete, thief, soldier, SOLDIER, soldier, hobo, soldier, enthusiastic orphan, rebel, confused mannequin. Though the actual characterisation and translation will make all the difference - hopefully, after being able to revise the concept for 8 years, Nomura's going to give us something more than 'whiny rich kid' or 'brooding teenager'. And the supporting cast isn't exactly filling me with hope, Cor aside.

Frankly, I don't know if I should slap or salute Nomura for making the Action Genre Hero Guy the single most unique design in a videogame.

Ah, yes. That was one of the reasons why I never bought The Last Of Us. It might also explain why I always play as female characters (or "characters") in video games.
