It's rare that everything was a good idea, lol. I see that there's already a draft for Mondegreen Gag.
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyWill moving Audience Reaction uses that don't fit Ascended Mondegreen or Mondegreen Acknowledgement to Beam Me Up, Scotty! be a good idea?
Check out my forum game: Rate the above YMMV.They might fit under JustForFun.I Heard That As.

Can't you discuss that on TLP? That's where the relevant discussion is taking place.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I'd like to raise a concern here which I feel might have flown under the radar of the users who approved of the Mondegreen Gag proposal. Besides the decision to turn Mondegreen into an in-universe Played for Laughs version, in their draft Water Blap also change the definition of the term Mondegreen to include any misheard line in a conversation between characters that then leads to shenanigans. It's not exactly the outside definition of Mondegreen and such an expansion would probably require formal approval which I am not sure everyone (besides VampireBuddha) was aware of giving when voting in the crowner.
Opinions?

Does it require formal approval? Think about it. It's not like we just sent the trope back to collect new examples. Mondegreen as a trope is no more. The TLP drafts are completely new new tropes built out of the ashes, and thus have the right to expand on or alter the original trope as needed if everyone agrees it's the best plan.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThen the crowner option was misleading as it's not about "Mondegreens turned into Played for Laughs" anymore but "Mishearings played for laughs".

I have no objections to a broader "mishearing" gag. A "mondegreen" gag would be a subtrope.
I mean, in googling the definition now, I'm seeing a lot of definitions that boil down to "a mishearing that turns into a new phrase", not necessarily in the form of lyrics of poetry, which just seem to be the most common or widely known form. Wiktionary, for example, has a definition of "A form of error arising from mishearing a spoken or sung phrase".
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessWell, Wiktionary equates Mondegreen with Mishearing. Case closed then.
Calling it a synonym doesn't mean they're saying it's the same word... Angry and annoyed are synonyms, but that doesn't mean everyone who gets annoyed gets angry. A mondegreen is a type of mishearing, after all.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure Pureness~Amour Le Fou I noticed you're tackling the TLP drafts for Mondegreen so here's another write-up for Mondegreen Acknowledgment based on Meme Acknowledgment. (And I already posted a write-up for Ascended Mondegreen on the TLP draft. Since this one hasn't been drafted yet I guess it can go here.)
The reference could be in an interview, a line at a convention, a YouTube video, or even a piece of supplementary material. To qualify for this trope, the reference simply needs to be outside the show.
If the misheard line gets incorporated into the actual work, then that's the siter trope: Ascended Mondegreen. Also sister trope to Mondegreen Gag. A subtrope of Meme Acknowledgment.
We currently have the following to do:
- Mondegreen Gag (link):
- Cull the example section of non-examples.
- Clean the wicks from Mondegreen to their correct pages.
- Ascended Mondegreen (link):
- Transfer examples from Mondegreen Gag (based on original page of Mondegreen).
- Collect further examples.
- Mondegreen Acknowledgment (link):
- Transfer examples from Mondegreen Gag (based on original page of Mondegreen).
- Collect further examples.
Please help in anyway you can, thx.
I almost forgot:
- I Heard That As: Nearly any cut example from Mondegreen could be transferred here, though that doesn't really have to be part of our clean-up efforts.

Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyI wonder if it would also be a good idea to make a Useful Notes page about what a mondegreen is.
Check out my forum game: Rate the above YMMV.I don't know if it needs a useful notes page more than just a definition-only page. It's a media reaction, thus suitable for a mainspace page.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessMaybe we could turn Mondegreen into a Fan Speak page instead of a disambiguation page and have links to the new tropes alongside the definition of the term, similarly to how Stuffed into the Fridge was set up.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I hooked a crowner for whether we turn it into a Definition-Only Page instead of a regular disambiguation page.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.^^Yeah, Mondegreen needs to become a Fan Speak definition, not merely a disambiguation.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanBecause it's relevant to this TRS effort, there is also a crowner for the draft of Mondegreen Gag about Music examples being in-universe or not (so examples like "If You Seek Amy" by Britney Spears wouldn't count anymore). It can be found here.
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyIf we turn it into a Definition-only page, should we use the analysis?

Check out my forum game: Rate the above YMMV.Calling in favor of Mondegreen being a Definition-Only Page after it's split, instead of a disambiguation page.
(I forgot this thread still had an open crowner.)
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. As did I.
1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die (all editions) progress: 426/1089 (39.12%)So, uh, how do we move the video examples for Mondegreen to Mondegreen Gag?
Check out my forum game: Rate the above YMMV.
Crown Description:
Should Mondegreen be turned into a Definition Only Page after the tropes it was split into at launch, or should we stick with the original definition of turning it into a disambiguation page? Vote up to turn it into a definition-only page; vote down to keep it as a disambiguation page.
Calling in favor of the following (which happens to be everything):
- Split Mondegreen Gag (an objective trope for mondegreens being Played for Laughs) off Mondegreen
- Split JustForFun.I Heard That As (a Just for Fun page similar to I Read That As, for tropers' own mondegreens) off from Mondegreen
- Split Mondegreen Acknowledgement (a Trivia item for creators acknowledging mondegreens from their works) off from Mondegreen
- Split Ascended Mondegreen (an objective trope for mondegreens appearing in works by the same creator as the mondegreen's source) off Mondegreen
- If Mondegreen is split, turn it into a disambiguation page between the new tropes and Lady Mondegreen
