Cleanup Round! Ready.... GO!

Warp That Aesop is for tropers to come up with incorrect, completely disproven, and just overall insane messages that no-one would actually get out of the work, but like most things on this site, it has attracted misuse, some forms include…

• Perfectly valid Accidental Aesop entries.
• The actual message of the work.
• Thinly-veiled complaining.
• Meta-stuff that is not present in the work itself

The Web Original subpage was a disaster last I checked. Lots of complaining about people's opinions there.

Great, we have a cleanup for this too now? Because there is something that irks me.

The "In general" folder of Western Animation is filled with complainy stuff.

• Traditional animation is so 20th century.
• A show that's a pop-culture phenomenon can take a huge dive in quality and still run for years with no sign of slowing.
• If a traditionally animated movie flops, it's because of the animation style. It has absolutely nothing to do with how badly it was marketed, whether the plot was actually good, or what other movies it was up against. But if a CGI movie flops, eh, better luck with the next one.
• Relating to Hanna-Barbera, if you have a successful cartoon, create multiple shows that are exactly the same with a different gimmick! Also, cowardice is hilarious, people make bongo noises when running, and use laugh tracks so no one can tell your jokes aren't funny.
• If your show is relying on a crapton of profanity, gore, sex, offensive jokes and other mature themes for humor, your show is disgusting and offensive so much it should be cancelled as soon as possible...unless it's something preachy like South Park. Then it's okay. If you're an adult, cartoons that involve all the aforementioned offensive content are the ONLY ones you can watch. If you don't like them, you're immature!
• You're not allowed to complain when a reboot butchers one of the cartoons you loved as a child because, despite the cartoon being based on a nostalgic property with brand recognition in hopes that you will show it to your kids and buy the merchandise for your kids, it was not meant for you, it was made for kids, and therefore is allowed to be low quality (unless you like it that is, then you suddenly become part of the target audience.)

All of those can be instantly cut due to the Examples Are Not General policy.

I've also noticed that many of the entries for "The Simpsons" and "Family Guy" are just quotes from the respective shows, not something that could reasonably qualify as a warped Aesop.

So should the general and genre examples from all pages be cut? There are lots of them and How to Write an Example doesn't technically say it applies to Just for Fun. I imagine some other pages might be affected like DarthWiki.Headscratchers, although that seems mostly like a joke page mixed in with actual complaints.

The Family Guy subpage is also filled with complaints about black humor, all being like "*Totally not funny thing* is hilarious!"

Some choice examples from FG's WTA page (not including those of the "X is hilarious" variety):

• If you don't like your daughter, make her life a living hell. Keep in mind: your daughter is a woman, but she's the kind of woman you don't want to have sex with. (Unless you do.) Therefore, she's not really worth much as a person.
• Jealousy over the success of competing cartoon is reason enough for a character from your show to "cross over" just to rape and murder the stars of the other show.
• Remember folks, only douchebags who can't accept others beliefs don't believe in god, and if you do believe in god, then you're just a bible thumping idiot!
• Ugly women deserve to be bullied.
• Over time, your heroic paraplegic friend will become little more than the butt of handicap jokes.
• It's perfectly alright to hate someone for abandoning their child (even though that's actually not what happened), only dating women for their bodies, lusting after their best friend's wife, being a self-righteous dick and insulting people who like religion and being a bore while you've fathered and abandoned countless children all over the world, are a convicted sex offender guilty of multiple rapes of both adult women and underage girls, lust after that same best friend's wife yourself, brag about working at a soup kitchen when you're probably really only there to pick up homeless women, and are in short a world-class hypocrite. And if the guy you hates had sex with your transgender father, it's perfectly alright to beat him half to death even though your father both consented to and enjoyed the experience, even when there are countless people who'd be far more justified beating you half to death for the countless sexual assaults you've committed.

And on the subject, here's one from its sister show:

• When said sociopath tries repeatedly to kill you because you offended him for doing ‘’exactly’’ what he told you to do, the reasonable thing to do is subdue him with non-lethal force, frame him so he gets locked him up in the world’s strongest most inescapable prison. When he escapes, by killing several guards and using them as a boat before you can even assure your family that they are safe, you should go into space, when he follows you there, have him get over it, easily forgive him, and let him continue to stay in your home, perhaps because you know your Plot Armor make you safe and both you and the audience doesn’t care about anyone else. You should not kill this vile well developed character, even though your Plot Armor is certainly stronger than his, if only to protect the massive amounts of poorly developed characters that the writer's and artists barely even spent time on making, because the staff and audience has had alot of time to get attached to him.

In the complaining cleanup thread, it has been argued that certain entries in WarpThatAesop.Avatar have issues. Check here to see them.

I've removed the meta ones to start with.

The MLP subpages are mainly complaining, character bashing and mainly Starlight Glimmer bashing. Clean that shit up!!!

Why don't you? It's not a good look to come in demanding rudely for other people to do the work. If you see issues, feel free to fix them.

Also note that complaining about the aesops is kind of a given on these pages. What we don't want is meta complaining or other complaining that doesn't fit the model of the game.

Well, "clean that shit up!!" does read as a little pushy, especially when you aren't giving specific examples. Not everybody is familiar enough with MLP to recognize the problems, after all, and even fans might not recognize which of the many listed entries are the problematic ones.

Right. One of the cardinal sins when posting to a cleanup thread is asking people to do the cleanup work for you. If you identify the problem, at least be specific and point to specific examples to discuss.

Well okay…& I still have no intention on attacking anybody. One thing I don’t like is being accused of things I didn’t do or meant.

I recommend bringing the specific examples here just to make sure you're cutting actual misuse and not just something you personally think is too bashy.

EDIT: I saw you cut the Meta examples and I agree those should go.

Yes they should because they were unnecessary complaining. I’m embarrassed to have contributed to that mess, so maybe that’s why I came on this here thread with the foul language.

Bumping the thread. I want to clean up the excessive character bashing and complaining on certain pages. In the My Little Pony pages of Warp That Aesop, most of the examples were Starlight Glimmer bashing. The same can go to other subpages of the trope.

Warp That Aesop is on Darth and thus allows more complaining, unless it crosses the line into complaining about stuff outside the show, i.e. the fandom or the actions of people behind the scenes, since that's not really comparable to the aesop of a work.

I understand that, but the character bashing is too excessive. Someone made a whole subpage dedicated to bashing one character.
