Per Ask The Tropers, this thread will be used to reduce the number of old, poorly written drafts on the Trope Launch Pad. We don't want to discuss on the drafts themselves because that will bump them and mix them with active proposals.
Sandbox for the project: Trope Launch Pad Discard Project
Sandbox for discarded drafts but viable ideas: Trope Idea Salvage Yard
The first sandbox page above contains drafts proposed in the thread that are still pending and drafts that we've decided to leave alone, either with no action or a bump.
The second sandbox page is for awful drafts but viable ideas. According to moderators, badly written but interesting/tropeworthy drafts should remain on the TLP. Rather than allow low-effort drafts to clog TLP, though, the salvage yard was opened to keep just the ideas behind them, in one place.
On this thread, we will mention which drafts we think are unworkable, add enough bombs, and discard (nuke) them. Discarding requires at least 5 bombs. Among the features of "unworkable" drafts:
- There have been no edits for a very long time, or at all
- The draft is low-effort, containing atrocious spelling and grammar and/or little to no examples, e.g. NEVER saw THAT coming (!), Nut-Chuks
- The draft was seemingly created so the sponsor could complain
- The topic is People Sit on Chairs, Too Rare to Trope, a search query created by mistake, etc. and therefore not tropeworthy
- The topic is already sufficiently covered by one or more tropes or is a duplicate of a better-written TLP draft
- The draft is problematic in other ways, such being closely tied to a page that has been historically problematic, e.g. Fetish Fuel, Complete Monster
- There's no discussion currently occurring in the comments to improve the proposal
If we decide to discard a draft after discussion via this thread, whoever does so must provide the discard reason in the comment section of the draft, for transparency's sake. Those looking at the discards section won't think it was nuked for no reason.
Also, check out the sister project, Trope Adoption Drive, where good drafts put Up for Grabs or abandoned can be grabbed, given a bit more improvement, and launched.

I gave them instructions for how to proceed with their page.
Feels good, don't it?This one looks like it was dumped arbitrarily by the creator. There seem to be enough examples in the comments to make it a viable draft; restore it?

Regarding the pagetopper and "Lying By Omission"... I regard the concept as distinct enough to be tropeworthy.
Exact Words has for Laconic... "True to the letter, not the spirit."
Meanwhile... Lying By Omission can have everything said be true to the spirit... just not the entire thing is said.
- Well, I put it up for grabs, so if anyone wants it, they can take it.
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576I'm seriously considering it. Though, the truth/lie tropes are generally not my specialty (for compare/contrast and supertrope/subtrope stuff), and it'd be my first TLP without having contributed to other TLP articles. ...That is to say, I'm nervous about doing so myself.
- Soundtrack Instrumental Version of Theme Song: Covered by Diegetic Soundtrack Usage.
- What Measure Is A Mortal: Instantly-abandoned stub.
- Viral Transformation Reveal: Exampleless stub.
- Hating What Daddy Loves: Instantly-abandoned stub by a TLP-banned troper.
- Affair Fog: Stub with a confusing title that lacks any non-general examples.
Discarded all of those.
So I just want to collect bombs for this draft.
This is an abandoned draft, and by now Stolen Credit Backfire has been launched, so we can just get rid of this one.
That one's discarded.
Duplicates:
-
Neighborly Index: Neighbors and Neighborhood Tropes -
Action Girly-Girl: Girly Bruiser / Lady of War -
"Nice Guy" Syndrome: Dogged Nice Guy -
Playing As Evil For The Sake Of Good: Well-Intentioned Extremist
Other:
- Unfitting Release: Complaining, inactive since 2019

While that by itself isn't enough of a reason to discard it, there's also the fact that several people have agreed that we already have it in one form or another (Language Fluency Denial, Elective Broken Language, etc.). With this in mind, is it OK to discard?
Probably, the draft can't be salvaged anyway.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAustralian Media: The TRS effort that did what the TLP draft sought to do rendered the latter moot.
1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die (all editions) progress: 426/1089 (39.12%)Characteristic Response draft. Bomb so I can nuke please? I dunno how to salvage it, and I wouldn't even know what to put on the salvage yard.
Unless someone wants to take it off me?

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure Pureness- Makes sense. Thanks!

Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576So, a while ago I wanted to look at the highest bomb count drafts. Not all of them are worth discarding (some just had controversial topics or something), but here's the ones I think we could nuke or at the very least re-assess. Some may just need to be re-done with a less controversial draft. This is just going down the first page of the "discards" filter and selecting the ones I think warrant some sort of discussion or action.
- Assumed Trope: A draft that gets bumped every so often just for the original arguments to come back; at the moment I think the general consensus is that it's not tropeworthy? But I'd like if we could settle it and remove the hold so that it doesn't just stick around languishing.
- Villainous Violet: A draft that people generally agreed wasn't tropeworthy, with multiple issues never having the chance to be properly addressed before it went Up For Grabs. Right now, it just has slightly more bombs than hats.
- Fanservice-Disservice Gray Area: Has more than double the amount of bombs than hats, and multiple people found the idea confusing at the time. It hasn't been touched in months, though the OP is still actively around.
- Tailed Humanoid: A very troubled and controversial draft from a troper who was since banned. Multiple people found the concept to be untropeworthy as written, ad the bomb and hats are nearly balanced.
- Darkhorse Episode: A draft with completely balanced votes; many people thought it was too vaguely defined and gush-y, especially as the inverse ("Scrappy Episode" or "Pavum Opus") had been rejected multiple times.
- Signature Role: Another controversial one, with many people worrying about the possibility of edit wars, concerns about tropeworthiness, and duplication concerns.
- Spring Break Plot: A controversial draft by a now-bounced troper, which had issues of premature hats and concerns about being too similar to Vacation Episode / Wild Teen Party. The draft has been left on hold for years. Admittedly, I'm biased here since I've always felt this wasn't tropeworthy, so I'll defer to everyone else.
- Culture Specific Incest: A possibly valid idea (IMO) brought down by people reacting to the original title (Our Incest Is Different) and the general concept of an incest trope and bombing. With how many bombs it has, a restart seems necessary.
- Rear-End Writing: Was controversial due to the similarities to Butt Brand and Intimate Marks. It got dragged down in part by the sponsor's arguing and insistence that Intimate Marks shouldn't be as broad as it is. As of now, it's still covered.
- Transmasc and Transfem Pair: We're at the point where the hats outweigh the bombs, however I think this still needs to be discussed as it's had longstading issues with tropeworthiness (the conversation leaned on the idea that it had a tropeworthy idea which wasn't being covered as currently presented). There's something to this, but does it warrant a restart or just an overhaul?
- Macabre Mediterranean: A little awkward returning to this one since the discussion got so hostile (I didn't handle myself well), but most tropers agreed that the concept was not tropeworthy as written.
- Animal Fiction: The victim of many re-writes, as well as the fact that an older version of this got bombed and nuked due to issues with these indexes. It was bumped recently, but no further discussion took place.
- Dissonant Aesop: As An Aesop is in TRS, it may be time to re-evalue this concept as it too had issues with "everything is an aesop" syndrome. Additionally, there were concerns about complaining and misuse.
...So, yeah. These are the drafts from the bottom of the bomb pile that I think warrant, if not nuking, some further discussion. Many have been left abandoned for years, while others get bumped every so often just to fall back down to the backlog when people still don't know what to do about it.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessJust to know, before you discard recent stubs, you can now ping sponsors at the TLP, lest you forget. That is all.
ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔|I DO COMMISSIONS|ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔I mean, the thing with stubs is that even if they do get discarded, they're stubs — so if the sponsor comes back and decides to try again, they won't really have that much to rewrite.
Though this thread doesn't really handle brand new stubs anyway. The focus is meant to be on older drafts.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessDivine Judgement draft is suspected by Tropers/Ner0014reN of being just Divine Punishment. Do we agree and bomb/nuke it?

- Unusual Expletive: Seems covered by Unusual Euphemism, Informed Obscenity, and Pardon My Klingon.
Ludicrously Large Late Rental Fine is basically a duplicate of Extremely Overdue Library Book.
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/discussion.php?id=r9r81a8wf5is6lwc7cyizy0h - Fan Works namespace draft, for a Fanfic.
- Sorry! Forgot to mention that a Fanfic draft version already exists, so all that's left is to nuke the bad namespace one!
Since this is a pagetopper. So, no bombs have been on "Lying By Omission", you guys think it's probably tropeworthy instead of redundant?
I adopted it, so I can't nuke it unless people give it 5 bombs.
