how was the Goosebumps movie like Pokemon?
Monsters running rampant through the world (or town in Goosebumps's case), a group of (mostly) kids need to capture them all.

The production is looking for a big name for Pikachu.

Unfortunately, Danny DeVito is not being considered...sorry.
Then again, I didn't realize how open I was to the idea of a Pikachu who sounds like Deadpool until now...

I think the movie's based on Detective Pikachu, so it's not exactly surprising.
Damn, now that I think about it, I never thought I'd live to see the day where Dwayne Johnson is being considered for the role of Pikachu.
With that in mind, are there any actors you would associate with other Pokemon?

Well, in The Rock's defense, he was really good in Moana.

Yeah, not a fan of The Rock for this role. I'd love Danny De Vito (especially after being introduced to the wonderful world of Always Sunny this summer) but if they had to go with one of those, I'd like to see Ryan Reynolds.
Danny De Vito better play somebody though. Maybe the main human character.

You mean the one that grossed almost 100 million more than its predecessor? That's not really a good example.
Actually, the whole premise isn't really good. Hogan's kid movies were shit, but his movies in general were also shit. The only good film he was ever in was Rocky III, and he only had a minor supporting part in that.

Quite honestly I can't hear any grown man as a voice for Pikachu. I think that making a movie based off Detective Pikachu is a mistake in general.

Yeah, I'm still shocked our first live-action Pokemon movie is based on something so recent rather than a modernized take on the original anime or the first gen games.
I've got Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash, Spyro, and Paper Mario fanfics.
I've seen it argued that they wanted to cash in on the popularity of the franchise, but were very wary of doing an adaptation of the anime or core game series because of those pesky "This is basically dog fighting" allegations that get tossed at the franchise all too often.

So they're probably going to hire a big name Hollywood guy to play the good detective? Because I was really hoping for Patrick Warburton...
I mean, a big-name actor would be nice, but there's tons of professional voice actors who could do the job.

Well, I was kinda expecting it to go that way, but them going for a take on Detective Pikachu was such a pleasant surprise that I'm glad they're not doing that.

Man, this movie is gonna be weird. I know Detective Pikachu probably has more of a solid plotline to work with, but I'd honestly always expected a live-action Pokemon movie to be based on either the early anime or directly on the Gen 1 games themselves.
I just hope the CGI Pokemon look good. I'll forgive pretty much any problems this movie has if it makes a convincing live action Pokemon world.
