A thousand years ago the world changed. A massive explosion rocked the world, destroying the previous age and leaving not but some small traces of it. But in the destruction a new force was unleashed, Magic. From the center of the great explosion a massive spring of pure energy rained upon the world, changing it and rebirthing it. Now Magic flows through all living creatures. Those that came to know the world after the rebirth named the new time

Age of Discovery 0-200 A.B. (After Blast)

The Before Men explore and learn of the new world

Elves born

Dwarves born

Fae born

Merfolk born

Dragons born

Magic discovered and harnessed

The first Kingdoms rise, aided by magic

Golden Age 200-500 A.B. Humans integrate the knowedge of the Before Men with their magic and create the first machines to run on magic. They are called Magitech

Colleges open to teach those with great magic potential how to harness their gifts.

Goblins born

Merfolk discovered

Fae discovered

The Kingdoms live in harmony and peace.

Near the end of the age Magitech reaches its peak, allowing people to transfer their souls into Clockwork bodies at the cost of their flesh.

The world lived in its peace, drunk on happiness and joy. But then they came, the Shadow Ones, the Demonkin, the Jackals. Shadow creatures spawned from the Point of Origin, where magic first came back to the world. A massive Hive arose and spread out the monsters. They were unkillable, and thirsted for destruction. They spread across the land like a plague.

The Dark Age 500-600 A.B.

Jackals begin to systematically destroy everything in their path People flee their Kingdoms, or are washed away by the flood of Jackals that spread from the Hive.

The Jackals corrupt forms spread diseases on the winds, killing thousands.

Near the end of this age the Hive begins to produce a thick black smoke, covering the skies and blocking out the sun.

During this age all races were pushed near extinction, fearing for their lives. The harmony that had once existed was shattered, and fear reigned supreme. But one day from the darkness came a spark of light, Seven great heroes granted powers by the Gods arose and lead the races together against the Jackals. Where they fought Magic and Steel vanquished the Jackals. The flood was pushed back, their was hope once more.

The Age of Heroes 600-655 A.B. The Seven arise, band together what remains of the world to march against the Jackals.

Years of fighting push the Jackals back to the Badlands and their Hive.

The Jackals Hive couldn't be destroyed, by the Seven gave their lives in tribute so that a barrier would cover it. The Threat was at an end.

Age of Rebuilding 655-780 A.B.

Seven Kingdoms are created in honor of the heroes

The Elven Kingdom among the Trees- Lastram,

Dwarvern Kingdom built among the Mountains- Stone

The Human Kingdom built atop the Grass- Kingskeeper

The Clockwork Kingdom built with Iron- Progress

The Dragon Kingdom built within Fire- Bristra

The Merfolk home crafted under the sea- Atlantis '

The Grand Capital Built in the Center- Unity

The Current Age 780-1000

The world continues to advance, but kingdoms grow distrustful of each other. Bandits roam the lands along with monsters once kept in check by the alliances between kingdoms. The world has forgotten evil.

But evil has not forgotten the world. The Barrier is cracking, and darkness is once more on the rise.

Welcome to R.A.H or Redux of the Age of Heroes, in this RP you will become one of the new Seven Heroes chosen by destiny to defeat the evil in the world. Choose your class, your background and other things and then jump into a world of magic and adventure.

Classes:

Soldier: Masters of melee weapons. Soldiers channel their magic through their bodies and weapons in order to push themselves past their limitations. Soldier's are one of the more accepting of Magitech enhancements due to the strength provided by them offering them the same versatility provided by magic.

Ranger: When it comes to ranged weapons no one can beat a Ranger at it. Quick moving and intelligent rangers use their speed and wits to their advantage to stay a step ahead of the enemy and fill them with arrows. Most Rangers detest close ranged combat, but still know how to fight when it comes to it. Their magic is usually focused on enhancing their bodies or arrows with power. Magitech holds some uses, through most prefer not to be weighed down.

Mage: Masters of Magic, both within themselves and in the world. A Mage will spend their entire lives focusing on one area of Magic and might only learn a few spells from another area. Mage Colleges focus around a certain element, studying its uses and how it interacts with the world and people.

Fire: Progress and Destruction

Earth: Stability and Defense

Water: Peace and Erosion

Wind: Freedom and Knowledge

Light: Understanding of Life and Healing

Dark: Understanding of Death and Rebirth

Each mage must channel their Magic through a different device (wand, book, deck of cards, a human skull etc.) in order to most effectively cast their spells. Each Mage at the completion of their training will craft a Grimoire of twenty perfected spells and have one familiar from their domain (fire might have a Phoenix and Wind might have a giant Eagle, if you need help with ideas PM me). If a familiar dies they will take up too three days to reform. As the Mage grows in power the Familiar will grow with them, sometimes gaining minds and spirits of their own. They will always remain supportive and protective of their mage through. Despite their great power Mage's spend most of their lives studying and learning, meaning their knowledge of the land might be great, but people and physical activities are most likely secondary activities for them.

Alchemist: Masters of Creation. Alchemists use magic in a way different others, using it to fuse different elements together to create something new, and often times explosive. They can create remedies from plants and magic, through they can draw the potential for poison from them as well. They normally fight using a combination of mixtures they have created and a subtle knife to the heart. They are most dangerous due to their unpredictability. You never know what is up an Alchemists sleeves. Alchemists are also known to craft Homunculi to aid them. Homunculi are empty shells given life by the Alchemists magic, and most often appear to be an animal, through some more odd Alchemists will craft one in human shape. Homunculi are simple creatures, and can only follow easy tasks.

Duelist: Masters of the art of Gunplay. The gun is a more recent invention, crafted by Alchemists. Most available guns draw magic from a persons body to fire out blasts of energy. Those who choose this new weapons are usually cautious, as rapidly firing from these weapons can leave a person drained. The most common types of guns available to Duelists are pistols, rifles, and the powerful blunderbuss.

Assassin: Masters of the art of Stealth. These quick fighters rely on staying to the shadows and quick thinking to outwit stronger enemies. They most often use daggers, knives, or some small weapon. An Assassin most often uses magic to keep themselves hidden from foes until they are ready to land the final blow.

Playable Races: Human- A human, born of the Before Men and granted magic. Compared to other races humans are very middle of the road, not possessing any great genetic skills. They adapt easiest to Magitech and the loss of their magic from its use. Most Clockwork Men were once humans.

Dwarves- Short, bearded, and stronger then their short forms would lead anyone to believe, Dwarves most often live among mountains cities where they mine for materials to trade to others. Dwarves most often have a very strong flow of magic, and their mages are known for being some of the most powerful in terms of pure magical strength.

Elves: Tall, beautiful, and most often intelligent Elves live their lives close to nature and live in tight knit communities from the time they are born until they reach maturity, where they are tasked with going out into the world, exploring and discovering themselves until they are ready to settle back into their community to raise their own children. Whereas Dwarves have amazing power in terms of magic, Elves have amazing flexibility, and are the only race known for knowing more then one school of magic.

Goblin: Believed to be genetic offshoots of the Dragon race Goblins are inventive and nomadic people, through they can often be found in cities as well. Most are short in stature, with the tallest only being about four feet tall. Their skin is scaly and most possess tails. Most possess talents in fire magic, and even if they never set foot in a college they can still cast a few tricks with it.

Dragon: These great beasts live far away from the other races, preferring their own solitude among their homes. Dragon's who choose to live among other races undergo a transformation ceremony to take on human forms. However their wings, sharp claws, and burning breath stay with them. Dragons and Fae are the only two races that cannot graft magitech into their bodies, as doing so would disrupt the magic flow in their bodies and end up killing them.

Fae: A race that is said to have started out with the people closest to the magical fallout after the explosion of magic spread throughout the world. They are eternally beautiful and can grow to maximum human height despite the legends that say they are little folk, they are also known to have wings. Their inner magic is often a match for Dwarves, however this is a double edged sword. A Fae is almost more magic then flesh and blood, and if their exhaust their magic their physical forms will die and their spirits will be drawn back into the magic that flows through the world. They live wherever they choose, and seem not have no home that they call their own.

Merfolk: People mutated by the Blast that gave them the ability to live underwater. Their bodies are normally very humanoid, however some of them take on other fish like attributes. One common sign is the gills around their necks, or the small water orbs that cover them when they walk on land. A Merfolk needs these orbs to walk on land and can only survive about three days without any water, less if it is hot. Due to constant pressure from the ocean Merfolk are much faster on land, able to move at amazing speeds. Merfolk are often accepted of Magitech, as the changes to their bodies are genetic and not magical in nature. Most live in vast underwater cities that are too deep to be reached by the average human.

Clockwork People: Once another race these people have forsaken their bodies in favor of a body made completely of Magitech parts. They only have their souls left, contained within a near indestructible orb in the center of their bodies. They became known as Clockwork people because the earliest Magitech worked with gears and like pocket watches. They can't use magic like a Mage would, but sheer strength and their technology make that a mute point in most things. They live in the Badlands, in a kingdom filled with metal.

Deities

Great temples to most deities exist within most cities, with some more worshiped then others. Their are some minor gods worshiped here and there, but these are the ones most well known.

The High Gods

Amon- God of Sun and Valor

Piom- God of Subtly and Wit

Chime- Goddess of Music and Art

Lucia- Goddess of Death and Rebirth

Kran- God of Birds and Mountains

Makim- God of Choice and Luck

Pakir- Goddess of Pleasure and Joy

The Six Demon Gods

Kumika- Goddess of Decay and Pain.

Stramas- God of Warfare and Violence

Strimar- Goddess of Entitlement and Paranoia

Ladium- God of Drowning and Burning

Grandian- God of Madness and Nightmares

Liuna- Goddess of Children and Life

It is said that once the High Gods and Demons Gods were of the same blood, but when the Jackals rose the Demon Gods watch with joy and the High Gods wished to aid humanity. A great war was waged in the heavens and the Demon Gods were cast down to Earth. They still hold power through, and are worshiped for their aspects.

The Gods are fickle and rarely answer prayers of common people, but those who show faith in them are known to be granted boons from time to time.

I am really excitied to see so many people showing interest. If you guys have any questions about the setting feel free to ask.

As for computers they haven't been invented yet, but if your character wanted to take a crack at it that would be rather interesting.

Question: How is the concept of creating undead seen in this world? Is it one of those "You're Satan if you think about doing that" things or does it simply depend on what you use the undead for here?

Lordxana kingxana0 Since: Jul, 2012

#12: Feb 4th 2016 at 5:16:49 PM

Its a case by case basis. Having one undead as a summon that you can call to your aid wouldn't be seen as too different then any other mages creature. But if you have an army of them trailing you then you will most likely cause a scene.

Alrighty, here it is!

  • Name: Rzek
  • Age: 24
  • Race: Goblin
  • Appearance: Rzek is a decently sized goblin, measuring at 3'2'' and is quite thin. He also has yellow scales, a tail, and glasses. Nothing else is really noteworthy about him.
  • Class: Fire mage
  • Weapon: He uses a set of fire spells. To name just a few from his set, he can shoot fireballs for fighting at a distance, create a steady stream of fire for close-quarters, and become immune to fire for a few minutes. He also has a familiar that resembles a man made entirely of fire. To get a closer connection to the familiar, Rzek decided to name him Paul. As of now, Paul doesn't have much of a personality, but that may change as the story progresses.
  • Backstory: Rzek wasn't a very popular kid. He wasn't bothered by it. People didn't bother him and he didn't bother people. Early on in life, he discovered fire and fell in love. He loved how it seemed to defy gravity at times. He loved the science behind it. He especially loved the fact it's so beautiful, yet so destructive. He found that last part pretty poetic. A year or so later, he also discovered there was a way to use fire magic. Obviously, he jumped all over this and began studying it immensely. It reached the point that he would lock himself away for days trying to learn more and more and more about fire spells. Unfortunately, he was going nowhere fast with this and decided to make the rare decision of joining a college. In college, he first created his familiar. An instant bond was created and Rzek treated him like a brother. Today, he's out of college, but only by a few years.
  • Personality: Rzek is a very anti-social person. He has no clue how to hold a conversation. He still tries to be a nice guy, he's just really, really socially awkward. However, if you do get to know him somehow, you'll find he's actually really optimistic, trying to see the best in every situation. Given his specialty, he adores fire and is the most happy when he gets to use it. It's worth noting that Rzek is the kind of guy who prefers to carefully assess the situation rather than charge in guns-a-blazing... unless fire is involved in which case he will act without a second thought.

  • Name: Calliam "Cal" Strahdius

  • Age: 32

  • Race: Human

  • Appearance: Calliam is by appearance a very standard epic fantasy hero - bright blue and white armor of a slightly magitech inspired appearance, heavily muscled - at least 220 pounds - and with a handsome visage, blond hair a step away from Long-Haired Pretty Boy and very bright, shining blue-green eyes. He even comes with a dark blue cape, though it is somewhat tattered at the end. Under the armor are a few scars, by and large owing to what was done to him to make him what he is. He seems somewhat pale, and there are some times when odd lines show on his skin, like he accepted some form of magitech.

  • Class: Soldier

  • Weapon: Lucibian, an Arthurian style long sword, with a single blue line up the middle of the sword and diverging three times before branching out at the end of the sword into a tree-like design. The sword seems to have a similar magitech look to his armor, and has Morph Weapon abilities, including the ability to turn into; a large cannon, a much faster but less damaging whipsword, and an "Enhance Mode" that lets the sword release three Sword Beams before reverting to normal.

  • Backstory: Calliam has a rather...troubled backstory, though he doesn't seem to think it was really that bad. He grew up in a large and crime-riddled city, having to provide for his mother, who everyone said was a madwoman, and his younger sister Amelia. On his thirteenth birthday a surprisingly large war force of bandits sacked the place, led by someone named "Kreuzod Lufernus". The Bandit Lord activated a strange artifact that blasted the city to pieces, and in the destruction Calliam lost track of his sister and mother. He was taken in by a kindly older Dwarf who offered to make Calliam "A Hero". What ensued was Training from Hell as the Dwarf trained and "altered" Calliam into what he is now. This Dwarf, known as Mechanist Flavian, wanted to create a form of Magitech closer to a blending of magic and technology that wouldn't drain one's internal magic. Calliam had a large store of internal magic as it was, enough that Flavian claims even he cannot tell what the result was. In terms of his fighting style, Calliam is powerful, but lacking in imagination and differing applications of his strengths.

  • Personality: Calliam makes a show of trying to be The Hero for absolutely everyone who needs it, and being a pillar of morality and good. He feels obligated to no matter what put others first and never delight himself. He proscribes to a personal code that is both binding and prone to leaving him with little time for himself. Inside, he's rather confused and has little idea how adults actually interact and has several teenage mindsets, being he was basically rushed to adulthood and given utterly no social life. He seems to believe in archetypes and has difficulty separating people from what a classical narrative would dictate they are. His greatest fear is letting down everyone, and that what he has done is meaningless. The one person he really, undoubtedly hates is that aforementioned Bandit Lord, and the worry he'll go crazy in revenge is eating at him due to the fact it'd feel so very good to split that bastard in two.

  • Name: Valadrian
  • Age: 22
  • Race: Elf
  • Appearance: [1]
  • Class: Alchemist
  • Weapon: SCIENCE! Also two small, poisoned daggers.
  • Backstory: Just like any other elf, Valadrian was sent out into the world as soon as he reached maturity. Believing to be able to learn the most in a city, since there'd be the most people there, he set out towards the largest city he could find. But as he arrived, he was surprised. There was nary a tree to be found anywhere. How was it possible that these people were living so far away from all nature had to offer, but still managed to flourish somehow? Intrigued, Valadrian decided to find out more about life in this strange place, which was when he stumbled upon an alchemist. Or rather - he stumbled into an alchemist, causing the alchemist to drop the potions he was carrying. A small explosion took place, leaving Valadrian without eyebrows, but with a new idea. How could it be that noone back home had thought about harnessing such powers? The alchemist meanwhile was less than happy, demanding for Valadrian to pay him for the potions he destroyed and his robe that had been singed in the blast. But since the elf did not have any gold, he ended up working off his debt in the alchemist's laboratory, where he was initiated into the craft. Seeing all the things he could do with just a few mere substances, Valadrian was delighted, staying to work with the alchemist even after the debt had been repaid. But as he remained in the city, something else was growing inside of him too, something less noble than his thirst for knowledge. Seeing how tight-knit elven society was, it never occurred to him back there, but here, with all the markets and wares, the elf began to take a liking to money. Treasure and artifacts in general too. To put it bluntly, he was becoming greedy. And as he did not have much faith in his mentor's work to accumulate riches with, he decided to set out further into the world, hoping to find both treasure and powerful ingredients.
  • Personality: Valadrian is a moderately social person, but he has trouble communicating with those he deems less intelligent than him. With those he does respect, however, he loves to blabber about his most recent findings, be they of monetary or scientific nature. While he deems the quest to slay evil worthwhile, it is not something he particularly cares to participate in, but since there's usually a reward to be expected, as well as the opportunity to loot the villain's lair, it is not too difficult to convince him to join the fight.

  • Name: Isolde
  • Age: 83 years, 4 months, 15 days, 3 hours (last time it checked)
  • Race: Clockwork Person
  • Appearance: Took the 'clockwork' part a bit too literally.
    • There's one thing that differs from the picture; Isolde's blade is smaller and less fancy, easily able to retract into its arm when not in use.
    • Isolde communicates through a Magitech voice box that takes impulses from the soul and translates them into human words. As such its voice sounds stilted, mechanical, and gender-neutral.
    • Similar technology allows Isolde to see and hear despite lacking eyes and ears. Its hearing range is the same as a human but its eyesight is far improved, allowing it to see in the dark.
  • Class: Assassin.
  • Weapon: A basilard dagger attached to its arm. It's made of a metal exclusive to the Clockwork Kingdom, which is strong enough to pierce through steel. Also has a fist of metal that'll guarantee a ringing headache.
  • Backstory: Born as a human, Isolde never really liked their body. Nobody else liked Isolde either, their awkward and seemingly cold-hearted demeanour being a big turn-off. As such Isolde grew up as a bitter misanthrope, always jealous of the other races and resentful towards their own. This hatred pushed them to work hard every day and save up every last penny they could until, finally, the time came when they could afford to be born anew.
With a new body and a new name, Isolde set off to claim a new home in Progress. After that came a new job as an assassin; it paid well, and Isolde had little problem with taking another's life. On top of that it offered Isolde the chance to travel the world, visiting new cities and killing people from species that Isolde had never even heard of. For what felt like the first time, Isolde was happy with its life.
  • Personality: You'd be forgiven for thinking that Isolde was an actual robot. Clinical and cool-headed, but generally not hostile. Isolde has always struggled with conversational nuances like tone or body language, and so things like sarcasm and irony fly right over its head. It favours logic over emotions and would even make a morally wrong choice if the end result was still beneficial, hence its work as an assassin. It's still a misanthrope but its hatred has died down a lot, and it's a lot more happy with life nowadays.
    • As a side note Isolde prays daily to the goddess Lucia, and leaves a portion of its earnings at Lucia's temple every week as an offering.

The technology level varies wildly from kingdom to kingdom, through the baseline is usually that most kingdoms have working sewer systems, streets, and Magitech that accomplishes some aspect of modern day conveniences such as lights for the dark and banks that run on official currency. Before the Jackals there were airships and trains, but with monsters and bandits running around the country side rebuilding the tracks is difficult, and most of the information on technology before the Jackals is rare. Even rarer is information before the Blast.

The most impressive invention to come out is the radio, which runs on magic, as most things do. Basically radios just act as spell receivers, but they are rather new and used mostly as mass communication for the royalty to interact with the people.

Weapons are a bigger ticket, canons exist as the most powerful form of weaponry for nonmages, and smaller guns are just safely coming into use, through more for duelists.

I hope that answers any questions you might have.

Oh also I am super impressed with all the amazing characters so far. Just two more!

Assuming dragons age slowly and live longer than humans. If not, I'll change her age to something like late 20's to early 30's.

  • Name: Solaris Agypri
  • Age: 78
  • Race: Dragon
  • Appearance: She gave up her original dragon body so she may interact with other species. She stands at 6'11'' with a medium build and light brown skin. She has sky blue eyes that glow when it's dark and straight blonde hair that reaches inbetween her shoulder blades. Her wings sticking out her shoulder blades are the typical bat-like shape, with the actual limb being crimson while the membrane is orange. Her claws, including the one on her wings, are pure grey. She wears a simple grey shirt and cream pants. She has a brown belt with two rather big pouches, one where her money is in, and the other holding a pocket sized spellbook (that she can't use) and necklace that belong to her late best friend, Homer. She has orange armor by Homer for her chest, arms (both upper and lower), and shins. On the back of the chest armor is a tube angled to her right shoulder where she puts her stick.
  • Class: Soldier
  • Weapon: An Eskrima stick, which is a red steel (instead of the typical wood) staff about a sword's length.
  • Backstory: Born in a small village of dragons, as friendly as she was, it was clear she wasn't like the others. She would constantly bug others for a duel. The others, usually the elders, chided her for that. She eventually couldn't stand it anymore and decided to take her chances with the rest of the world. Her body changed into a human with wings and started her journey. For a while, she didn't meet many until she attacked by a bunch of momsters. Inexperienced in fighting against a group and in her new body, she lost and would've been killed if she wasn't saved by a light mage named Homer. He brought her back to his house nearby Kingskeeper and healed her up. The two quickly became good friends and Solaris was impressed by Homer's kindness. So, she tagged along with Homer as he went around the world, trying to help the world. He built her armor as she learned a martial art from a book from his grandfather. She became a skilled and kind warrior, and came to consider Homer like a brother. When his life faded from age, his last wish was that she would not despair. She did so, though she did mourn his death. After that, she wandered the world, helping those in need and doing odd jobs, in honor of her friend.
  • Personality: Solaris is a friendly, cheerful and energetic girl who cares about others, a bit too much sometimes to the point of complete disregard of her own safety. She likes to help others and tries to help as many as possible, even when others sneer at her or misfortune falls upon her. She's patient with the shy ones and isn't put off by someone giving her the cold shoulder. She likes cracking jokes and teasing, but not to the point of hurting another's feelings. If she accidently does, she quickly apologizes. She's also Blood Knight and absolutely loves a good fight. But unlike most blood knights, she doesn't actively seek out a fight (though she used to do it), or has any level or Ax-Crazy. If one comes to her, she's enjoys it as long as it lasts. The only thing that makes her not enjoy it is when someone who can't fight is involved. She absolutely hates those who brutally beat someone who's already been beaten. She's also more accepting of other species than most dragons, thanks to her time with Homer.

Also, are you okay with some kind of multidimensional character?

Define multidimensional in terms of the character?
