...*puts it on Teh List*
"You can reply to this Message!"Hey, Elias Toufexis is supposed to be in this.
Just started this. Only at the second episode, but holy crap it's good.
It is, I was sceptical but it is.
Also gets a second season
"You can reply to this Message!"I kind of like how they're playing the crew of the Rocinante differently to the books. Nobody considers Holden captain at this point except possibly himself, they don't have that kind of instant trust they had in the books, there's a lot more tension.
I'm interested to see how they portray the Phoebe molecule and the stuff that happens on Eros. Obviously it won't be like it was in the books (how would they get half of that on television?), but so far it's been good.
I wonder if we will get some viewpoints from Havelock and Muss back on Ceres in the future?
Be not afraid...Late to this thread, and it's not very active, but I'd been enjoying this, and went just now to find episode 10... just to find that season 1 was only 9 episodes and it ended just as things were about to get actually exciting. Halfway through the first book.
This is like if Game Of Thrones season 1 had ended when Robert Baratheon got injured.
To be fair here. The SFX are very well done and probably expensive. So they probably wanted to see the reactions until the went full bore.
"You can reply to this Message!"OK, so I caught up.
After reading the Characters page for the books, I'm thinking that in the series, Kenzo Gabriel didn't ask for this ("this" being absorbed by the Protomolecule and flung towards Venus).
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisJust saw the first episode on Netflix. It was allright, but I did get some nasty Battlestar Galactica flashbacks from the visuals and overall style, so I'm unsure about continuing.
Children of Dievas - my webcomic about the Northern CrusadesI enjoyed it. With minimal spoilers, I can tell you that the intrigue is entirely political, and mad science kicks in only in the last three episodes (since the finale is a two-parter).
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisMaybe so, but the dark, depressing interiors and everyone being an unlikable where the problems I'm conserned about (which along with the nonesense story are the main reasons I loathe BSG)
Children of Dievas - my webcomic about the Northern CrusadesI saw the season 2 trailer that came out back in July.
Apparently Holden gets infected with the protomolecule somehow, instead of Miller.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisSeason 2 is up! It's awesome and everyone is intelligent and badass—though Miller ruins his moment a bit by shooting the scientist in charge of the protomolecule project. I can understand killing the bastard, but he couldn't wait five minutes for him to name his backers?
Miller has never been one to let reason come in the way of his decision process, though?
"You can reply to this Message!"Episode 3 is up. The Martian marines are getting stir-crazy after the destruction of Deimos. Holden is still pissed at Miller, but the grunts love him. Chrisjen contacts Fred Johnson for information that might prevent the war. The proto-molecule is building something on Eros, and Miller goes to the Mormons under the guise of joining them, but gets enough data on the Navu from them to convince Johnson to use it to ram Eros into the Sun.
Well, you don't see an Asteroid pull a Nonchalant Dodge every so often.
"You can reply to this Message!"Was that one a Wham Line.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisAnd now we had a Wham Shot.
"You can reply to this Message!"Yeah, because from what we all knew, Alien Blue Crap was only on Phoebe and Eros, one got vaporized and the other one took a trip to Venus.
And suddenly our brave Femshep gets a Husk leering over her on Ganymede. That after THERE WAS A FIREFIGHT.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisJust saw the episode "Doors and Corners" and holy crap that has to be one of the coolest space ship battles I have ever seen.
The way Alex maneuvred the ship was awesome. Completely averts the usual "Naval" or "Dogfight" approach we usually see.
The fact that they vented the atmosphere of the Roci prior to the battle (because of course their hull is going to get breached) was also a nice touch.
All around a great episode.
I'm putting it up there with the famous "Adama Maneuvre" from BSG as my favourite spaceship battle scene.
In general I'm really liking the show. I like the hard sci-fi aspects and the characters are cool. I especially like Amos and Naomi. Naomi for being a badass Wrench Wench with a cool haircut and Amos for his constant Dissonant Serenity in the face of violence and danger.

Well, that's because Amos has Seen It All, although sometimes he crosses the line when he gets angry (like when he argues with Alex in last week's episode).
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisHis bluntness is such a refreshing change from typical heroic angst and self-doubt.
He is calm and even cheerful at times even as he contemplates shocking acts of violence.
I understand that he is supposed to be somewhat sociopathic, but I still think his character is well acted.
He is.
Both sociopathic and well-acted. Although I did find his defacing of the Martian flag on the Roci a tad uncharacteristic, all things considered.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisI like how he's aware that there's something wrong with the way he thinks. My favorite moment of his was when they were discussing the brain surgery that the scientists had had, and his first response was "can it be reversed?" It makes me wonder if he wasn't always this way.
An early release of the first episode of SyFy's upcoming series The Expanse based on the book series of the same name.
And it is damn good.
