Noticed this while the moratorium on new threads was still up, so I've waited until it came back down to mention it: NiceHat.Literature and Wizard Classic feature the same image of Gandalf the Grey.

I assume it'd be easier to replace on NiceHat.Literature, hence why I've made the thread in its name. I don't actually have any suggestions, however; merely pointing out the duplication.

I'd prefer to keep the pic on Wizard Classic. Some ideas for NiceHat.Literature:

The Cain images don't focus too much on his cap, but I also think Commissar Cap should be on that page since it has its own subtrope. Of the others, Jarlaxle works best of the suggestions so far.

The sorting hat from harry potter?

Sherlock Holmes's Iconic Deerstalker cap? [1][2][3][4][5][6] [7]

Now that I think about it a collage of all the Sherlocks wearing the same exact hat would be great.

Thus far, I'm liking Mustrum Ridcully and Sherlock.

I wasn't aware Warhammer 40000 counted as literature. Is it a novel spin-off of the tabletop game, or am I missing something here? (That said, NiceHat.Tabletop Games is currently imageless...)

[up] 40K has a long line of novels and short stories based on the setting. The Ciaphas Cain and Gaunt's Ghosts books are two of the best-known Imperial Guard-based series...and you're right, one of those suggestions would be good for that subpage as opposed to the literature page.

Cat in the Hat is a good choice too, although I think I'm still more partial to Sherlock...

I am the same there, Sherlock is just so much more recognizable and well you dont even need to see the person its on to instantly know what it is and anyone who wears it instantly has to act the character.

like this

This one is straight up from the cover of the The Original Illustrated Sherlock Holmes.

EDIT: god what happened to the image resizer

[up]You need to use the markup, the resizer's broken.

My only problem is that it just seems too similar to the image in Iconic Outfit. I would prefer another character for this trope.

7's a pretty good option. I agree that Sherlock in the deerstalker is a little too close to Iconic Outfit for my liking.

I agree with Cat In The Hat.

Sherlock Holmes didn't even wear the deerstalker that much, it was pretty much a Beam Me Up, Scotty!.

That's enough consensus for 7, so let's run with it.

Old:

A Wizard is never seen without his Nice Hat.

I'm wondering if a variant of that line ("A wizard is never late, Frodo Baggins...") should go on Wizard Classic.

...weird, looks like the formatting for images and captions on the forums is... not quite what it used to be.

[up]Yeah, join the club, you need to use the markup here.

Maybe something that rhymes? I suck at them.

I am using the markup, though:

I like the concept of using The Cat In The Hat, but that particular image isn't the best, as part of hat is cut off. Something like this might work better.

I think taking off his head to bow actually draws more attention to it.
