World Dueling Federation: Yu-Gi-Oh! Wrestling (Sign-Ups)

Duel Monsters is the rising star of spectator sports. And the World Dueling Federation is the blinding supernova of the sport itself. Helmed by the creator of Duel Monsters, Miss Maria Zahn herself, the World Dueling Federation is growing larger, as they head into their fourth season.

After the events of Battlefield III, Michael Jensen still stands at the top of the league, the WDF Masterclass Title still firmly in his grasp. DJ Deadbeat was a fierce competitor, but no longer holds the WDF Challenger Title, having opted to place it on the line to face Michael Jensen. Meanwhile, the Shenanigan Squad won the WDF Tag Team Title in a disturbing display of power and unnerving cackling.

But the biggest news of all was that Season IV would see the introduction of the largest amount of Duelists since the foundation of the Federation. Fresh new faces who would have the potential to shake up the dueling world with their own brand of play.

Will they find success awaiting them, charging forward to claim the greatest glory of the Masterclass Title? Or will they fall as many have before to Michael Jensen's brutal Battlin' Boxers? Or will they seek to build a different legacy altogether?

• Name: What is your character's name? Do they wrestle under a different one?
• Age: At least 18+; child prodigies are creepy and weird out the audience.
• Gender: Self-explanatory.
• Appearance: Pictures or descriptions are fine. This is more focused on their stage appearance but if you wanna show them in business casual, go for it. Also, include a picture/description of their Duel Disk, if it isn't too much trouble.
• Stage Personality: How do they present themselves on stage? Are they a face? A heel? Something in between? Are they hot-blooded? Cold and logical? Stuff like that. Regular personality is going to be part of the unfolding backstage drama so no need to put it here.
• Stage Backstory: What is your character's gimmick? What do they gain from joining the WDF?
• Entrance Theme: Clearly the most important part of this entire character sheet. Entirely optional but hey makes for fun thoughts.

  • Important Note! While I will be looking over the decks, if you have any complaints about a deck, please let both the player and me know.
  • Important Note #2! When building your deck, please try and include both monster and backrow removal/negation. As someone who totally has forgotten that for RP decks, I can assure you that it is not fun to read, no matter how much ham you throw about to try and distract from it.
  • Important Note #3! No building decks around locks. That's not entertaining to watch and that's the whole point of this thing.
  • Important Note #4! While staples can be used, they should be used extremely sparingly. I'm not gonna put in a number limit or whatever but just please try and be mature about this. Also, avoid using cards someone else has, if possible.

Aside from that, a few explanations of how duels will work in this RP. You have the option to play your duel on Dueling Network or you can have draws sent to you via PM here. Either way, I expect a play-by-play series of posts from the Duelists, preferably in a fun and/or entertaining way.

All duels, unless stated otherwise, will be with 4000LP. To sort of prevent burn from making this all pointless, you cannot activate cards to burn your opponent on your first turn, should you take the first turn. Basically, no attacking applies to burn as well. Aside from that, all the rules remain the same, unless stated otherwise.

• Name: Sora Tenryudo
• Age: 24
• Gender: Male
• Appearance: Sora is described (by and large by his fans) as having the face of an angel, specifically, he looks a heck of a lot like a certain other Sora, just grown up and with a similar predilection for smiles. His hair is very unkempt, and mostly hidden under an odd Nice Hat with goggles built in. He wears a black t-shirt, long cargo shorts, and roller blade shoes, though oddly with the roller blade part taken out. He has a lean, muscular build, stronger in the legs than in the upper body by far.
• Stage Personality: Sora makes the presentation of a wholesome, cool face, though with pronounced "teenage rebel slightly grown up" tendencies. He presents himself as someone you want to be friends with, who is willing to listen to your troubles and help you fight through it all. How much of it is true and how much is a calculated popularity move is ambiguous - he is genuinely a very affable young man who is good to his fans and the audience, but there are hints he may be somewhere more between heel and face than is readily apparent. And underneath all of that is his real, actual motivation...he's a mysterious fella once you really know him, is all.
• Stage Backstory: He's the perky newcomer who aims high, gives every indication that he grew up watching this, and wants to become "someone others can look to, years from now, and say the same thing". He does though drop hints his backstory both in stage and real, may be different than what he says. He has very apparent populist leanings, and is very good about making use of his media darling traits. He has a very public relationship with an ex-idol singer named Reika Mitsumine.

• Name: Navajo Joe (Real name: Mark Johnson)
• Age: 26
• Gender: Male
• Appearance: Navajo is of American Indian decent, though he isn't really a Navajo- his ancestors were Miami Indians. Mark doesn't really have much of an interest in the real history of his tribe and doesn't really consider himself a part of them, though. His stage attire is a mishmash of Indian stereotypes; feathers in his hair, a poncho, warpaint, and dozens of beads, bracelets, trinkets, and other baubles. Notable are his peace pipe and tomahawk, both ornately decorated. His Duel Disk is actually a Duel Coat hidden under his poncho normally, designed to look like a sash. His deck, Extra Deck, and Graveyard are all in pouches on his waist.
• Stage Personality: Navajo is quiet and sturdy. He is a rock, a tree, a river. He is not someone who leads, but someone who guides. He is a face, a very "nature-y" Duelist, but he will also not let any slight pass unforgiven. His vengeance is something you'd want to stay out of the way of. Still, his spiritual nature is his primary trait.
• Stage Backstory: Navajo Joe was born and raised in a reservation surrounded by nothing but dust and sand for a hundred miles, and learned how to live in the harshest of conditions. The Rez was a world of its own, disconnected from technology and the rest of the world, but Navajo embraced it, learning how to connect with the spirits of nature and harness their knowledge and, if needed, strength. To this end, he carries many spirits with him, protected by the baubles he wears- in his armlets, in his earrings, in his feathers, spirits reside, waiting to be called onto the field. He has come to the WDF because one of the greatest, oldest spirits came to him in a vision, warning him of a great calamity ready to unfold in world of Dueling.

• Stage Personality: Smartass, snarky, jackass. You name it, he's exactly that. Unable to help but mock his opponent the entire way through the duel, and even if they get a good move on him usually they retaliate with something that makes an even bigger ass out of themselves.

• Stage Backstory: What DON'T they gain? It's incredibly fun work, will garner a fanbase, should pay pretty well and gets to face off against strong people. What more do you even want? This is Jack's entire reason of joining. Or I WOULD say that, but not really. He couldn't find a job for the life of him, just kicking up dirt around the streets. His attitude got in the way of many things and never got him something he can do. He's their to show the audience that even some good-for-nothing can make it somewhere, even if it's just putting on a show for an audience. And even if they're kind of an ass.

Name: The Sun Fighter (Real Name, Sho Bowman)

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Appearance: The Sun Fighter is covered in a dark blue costume, complete with a cowl that covers his head and face, as well as a pair of bronze goggles that hide his eyes. He wears a long red scarf that wraps around his neck and reaches down to the floor. His suit has a bright orange circle with red star-like markings that surround it, making it look like a large sun on his chest. He wears a silver belt around his waste which holds his deck and his duel disk, which looks like some sort of gun when not in use. When in use as a duel disk, he places the 'gun' on his arm, the board for monster, pendulum, and spell/trap cards pop out, below the barrel is where the deck is placed, and along the handle is for the extra deck, banished, and graveyard.

Underneath the costume, he comes from Japanese-American descent and his a light tan, short ebony hair, and brown eyes.

Stage Personality: Ultimately, when Sho is acting as Sun Fighter, he acts like he's from a comic book, or a superhero show, with a LOT of ham. He's always spouting about how you should fight fair, with honor, and other virtuous stuff. Even after losing, he tends to act over the top and over dramatic.

Stage Backstory: The Sun Fighter was once a nobody who grew up on the streets in the dark slums of Skyscraper, where he had to suffer the abuse of the local bullies. He got beaten up almost everyday of his life-twice on Sundays, until one day, he took up training at a nearby Gym and learned to protect himself. As he grew up, he saw there were others who needed him, so he'd always defend those who could never defend themselves. When he heard of the WDF, he joined to help make a bigger impact and act as a good example for the little duelists in the world!

• Name: Rosalia Rossa real name Lily Liabell
• Age: 23
• Gender: Female
• Appearance: Rosalia wears a LOT of pink. She even dyed all of her long hair pink, although since she had a professional do it, it is virtually unnoticeable even from up close. She also has a strong flower motif associated with her character, and her entrances are often accompanied by petals of Asclepias falling from the air. The blade of her Duel Disk is no less pink than the rest of her attire, although the Disk itself is a more reddish color.
• Stage Personality: Rosalia acts as a confident face on stage. She speaks strongly of healing through dueling, and most of her cards are meant to have calming effects on spectators, bringing a breath of fresh air to the chaos the game is usually associated with the game. Rosalia also adores the public, and they will be the first people she addresses whenever she goes on stage. She also takes the time to talk to the fans personally whenever she is able. They are who she is dueling for, after all.
• Stage Backstory: Rosalia is the daughter of Logan Liabell, a renowned doctor at the local hospital back home. She always admired how he cured the sick and saved the dying. Yet she became disillusioned with her father when he began to care more about saving the body and ignored their hearts. She wanted to heal people as well, but not like her father. Striving for independence, she joined the WDF, believing that by reaching out to people and bringing them love and happiness, she can heal the people.

Gender: Female.

Appearance: [1]◊, physical appearance-wise. Clothing-wise, she dresses more like Kefka◊. Duel Disk.

Stage Personality: Killer Clown is very much a heel, and she revels in it. She's a massive troll, and enjoys taunting her enemies to the point where they become insensate with rage, and thusly fall into her trap(s). When she gets low on Life Points or is close to winning, she segues into Laughing Mad. Nobody is safe from her mockery, not even the audience. When facing someone who really gets on her nerves, she drops the "laughing" bit and just goes into full-on murderous rage.

Stage Backstory: The Clown is a mysterious figure. Nobody really knows where she came from, or why she's here. Some say she's in it for the giggles, others think she wants to disgrace the reigning champion because of some relationship they have (or had), and the rest believe that she's just power-hungry. Whichever is the case, she's in for good and out for blood.

Entrance Theme: Charming Magician. If inapplicable, Villain (Stage Left).

Alrighty, so I guess I should get started on these.

Firstly, a minor point of clarification: The WDF, and Duel Monsters in general, is pretty new. As in, they have existed in public eye for 3 years. However, you are even newer. As in, fresh blood. That means none of you have established fanbases yet. I understand some of you may simply be predicting how the audience will see you but I just wanted to make sure this point is clear.

@Nick The Swing: Your character can pull a Heel–Face Turn but remember that that is in-character. As a person, I expect he is still a respectable human being. As for the deck, I am not sure if I like the idea of something like Black Skull Archfiend Dragon running around. If everyone else is okay with it, I'll be fine. Also, mind if I ask what's the deal with the ex-idol girlfriend thing? If it is a dumb joke reference or something, that's fine. I'm just not familiar with all the animus and mangos these days.

@Sarcastically Insane: Since I already spoke to you about your Extra Deck and you fixed it, looks fine to me. Character looks fun. Accepted.

@Nickpws: For Stage Backstory, what is their deal to the audience? Like, what's their gimmick? What's their draw? Why are they in the WDF to the audience's knowledge? Stuff like are they a bad boy? An everyday man who is trying to make it as a Duelist? A guy who is trying to pay for his sick mother's hospital treatments and found Dueling as his one way of doing so? Deck seems okay to me.

• Appearance: The image of a boxer himself, Mike stands tall and proud, muscular even amongst his peers. He often sports a big shit-eating grin, furthering his cocky look. Duels without a top on, to the adoration of quite a few fans and the scorn of others. African-American with a closely shaved head and bright brown eyes. Likes to wear boxing shorts that are black with flames decorating them. His Duel Disk is simple yet efficient, black with matching flame decals to his shorts.
• Stage Personality: The face of the company but of questionable status as a 'face', Mike Jensen is a ferocious competitor, relishing challenges but often doubting his own ability to lose. He often jumps on the opportunity to talk trash about his opponent but will admit to a good challenge should it show itself. Loud, brash, proud, and confident, Mike is a constant threat in the WDF and none doubt his ability.
• Stage Backstory: A former boxer who found the sport too simplistic and easy, he found Duel Monsters when the WDF was first founded. Eager to find himself a challenge, he jumped at the opportunity to learn this game and quickly adapted to become a huge threat. He took the Masterclass Title at Battlefield II and has held it since. The new challengers bring a spark to his eyes and he looks forward to facing them in the ring.

@Philosopher Stones: Rhonny is a no-go, for sure. Other than that, Accepted.

@Nick The Swing: I am not fond of Black Skull Archfiend running around, but the other build was okay, as you could only bust it out with Red-Eyes Archfiend on the field. As it stands now, you can easily grab a 3200 beater with 2400 burn damage on top of that. For free, more or less. So either switch Red-Eyes Fusion for Poly or drop your Summoned Skulls for other cards.

• Name: DJ Deadbeat (Real Name: Sam Romero)
• Age: Unknown (23)
• Gender: Agender
• Appearance: DJ Deadbeat’s face is hidden behind a skull mask and massive headphones. They stand at a rather average height of 5'8". Wears a skeleton morphsuit without the head, which allows their long, white hair to cascade down their back. Not visibly noticeable but is of Latino heritage. Their Duel Disk is in the shape of a quarter note and looks bone-like.
• Stage Personality: A beloved face with almost boundless energy, DJ Deadbeat is one of the biggest draws in the business. Their win ratio might not be the best in the league but they are renown for putting on some of the greatest matches, including the incredibly tense climatic duel at Battlefield III. They are always happy to help new Duelists get their footing and truly believes that Dueling should be done for the enjoyment of the spectators rather than to win.
• Stage Backstory: DJ Deadbeat is the child of a supposed Dr. Frankenstein wannabe. Growing up near a cemetery, they felt a very strong connection to the dead. One day, when singing along to a song, they heard a chorus of the dead sing the backup, making them realize that music was the ultimate tool to communicate with the dead. But something was still missing... And it was then that DJ Deadbeat found themselves joining the WDF, hoping that even if Dueling wasn't the missing link, meeting all the strange and incredible people that were there would allow them to discover the secret.

• Gender: Male
• Appearance: Silly Billy, at first glance, looks like the host of a child's TV show. He has neatly combed black hair and big excited blue eyes behind thick-rimmed glasses. He wears a rainbow bowtie and a rather cozy looking pullover. But after you've seen him smile, that all goes out the window. His smile is filled with sharpened teeth and the appearance of a kind man is instantly shattered. His Duel Disk is equally flamboyant in design, looking almost like it was stitched together by an assortment of multicoloured fabrics.
• Stage Personality: Silly Billy is, above all else, cruel. The world is a joke to him and he will be the last one laughing. He will trick and undermine others, laughing all the way.
• Stage Backstory: Silly Billy joined the WDF alongside his brother, Silly Willy. The two of them presented themselves as entertainers, seeking to bring smiles to faces everywhere. However, their intention was only to bring misfortune to those who stand against their brand of chaos.
