Then you're probably gonna have to learn to deal with it, because just about everyone is using them these days.
Good God, that's the elitist bullshit that made me hate the FGC to begin with.
I think auto-combo is stupid as much at the next guy & I'm incredibly baffled on how DOA is even going to implement it since the game is very combo friendly to begin with but God Almighty there are worst things to happen when it comes to a game.
All right. Calm down, bucko... You don't like the direction of the new game. I get it. You could have expressed it more shortly like, "Wow. Autocombo? Again? Not my taste. I'm out."
You know you're sounding a bit like Keiji Inafune about how he rambled on 'Japanese gaming is dead'. I would suggest that you eventually make up a game of your design (screw the dumbing down of the mechanics, Arcade ends, etc) just to show'em... but I don't want you to repeat the fiasco of Mighty No 9...

Which has me a bit torn on the thing to be honest.
It kinda feels like they're saying that a focus on female fighters was fine when it was about relatively light-hearted fan-service; but now it it's trying for a more serious approach, it has to be focused on the men.
I mean, it's the initial trailer so I guess we''l see, but I couldn't help thinking that.
"If you are going through hell, keep going." - Winston ChurchillI think you're looking too deep into that, but given Japan's stereotype I'm somewhat agreeing with your statement there.
They did say they redesigned Kasumi so they could focus on her being a warrior and not just a lust object for preteen boys, so I imagine the ladies will still all have a big part.
I actually agree 100% with agent-trunks on his opinion of the FGC.
And I kinda found it funny being compared to Keiji Inafune...

Growing up, it's like a civil war, don't turn away, it's something you can't ignore...Any hope that the characters will retain their classic outfits for the nostalgia factor? Also, I seriously hope they're smart enough to realize that Tina Armstrong's sex appeal is an integral part of her character.
Of course, the legacy of the company's misdeeds does continue live on, and even its name was co-opted by a certain bio-terrorist group for the very infamy it bears... even though said terrorist group have otherwise no connection to the Umbrella Corporation.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. It is strange to see the series not focusing on it's females. That's always been DOA's biggest draw.
I wonder if this change is an attempt to distance themselves from Itagaki?
I suppose we'll see. I'm also a little torn on it, though I do hope all characters can still sport their original costumes as well. Something about Kasumi seems off without it.
One Strip! One Strip!Do note that the first DOA 5 trailer was just a fight between Ryu and Hayate. They have plenty of time to focus on females moving forward.
Yeah I think we're getting ahead of ourselves here. They like to show off Ryu and the other male characters during teaser promos because they have to constantly remind people that their games have more to them than just fanservice. Honestly, I hope Nioh's acclaim (which I still haven't played) will help people be more receptive to DOA 6 (though I suppose a guest from that game coming to 6 may work better in that regard).
Also, they tried the same "going for a more 'serious' look/tone" with 5 before and reverted somewhatnote , so I'm going to wait and see if they stick to their guns this time. I suspect the main reason this time is that they want the game to get into the pro scene without having too much fuss.note
In any case, I'm really excited at this announcement, though not too surprised; for some reason a lot of folks thought their announcement about DOA 5 to mean that they weren't planning on more games from the series. It's a good time to return, I'd say, especially now that most of the other "classic" fighters having already come back (or are in the process of coming back).
Not sure how I feel about the auto-combo thing, but it is what it is. I just hope the game plays well.
Of course, now I need to really get around towards actually playing through the post-Itagaki storylines... Still haven't finished Dimensions for the 3DS, and that's keeping me from playing 5... And maybe I should play Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 while I'm at it.
I'm not bother with Kasumi wearing a bodysuit since it's still sexy in a certain view. Plus that won't stop doujin makers in making rule 34.
Why do I feel the fanbase will start protesting that the game is becoming generic to pander to the modern generation of fighting games?
I'm sorta indifferent to the Super gauge tho.

Growing up, it's like a civil war, don't turn away, it's something you can't ignore...Weren't you just doing that?
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Complaining about the Auto Combo system? Yeah, sorta fits the box.
Growing up, it's like a civil war, don't turn away, it's something you can't ignore...So there's all this talk about them lessening the fan service. making the women look cool as opposed to sexy, etc., which I'm fine with tbh...
... but it makes me wonder what on Earth they're going to do with Marie Rose and Honoka. Like, the genesis of those two characters was going all in on fan service tropes that DOA was missing, and they ended up becoming the new poster girls for the series in a way.
They'll probably still be around, but not as part of the game's main plot if they can't work them in well. Just because their designs pander to certain elements (which can apply to just about every female character in this series) doesn't mean they're going to be excised completely in the new game. Even if they were, I still expect DLC characters to be a thing, meaning any character who wasn't in the initial roster still has a chance to return.
That said, I only know the characters from Senran Kagura and don't know how they fit into the world of DOA, Honoka especially.
Hi, I am excited by the news and I hope Tina is in 6. She is my main. Got to a B rank with her, with Rachel and Lisa as subs. I love throws in fighters and she has some of the most fun throws in any fighter. I also like how throws are useful for all characters too. DOA triangle system is great.
Downplaying the sex appeal isn't going people take the series any seriously than they did before. I just wish they made up their minds about it already. I don't like it when people backpedal their statements
Yeah the series perception is pretty much set by now. Even if they avoid the sex appeal, word of mouth will still talk about the new game as if that's all there is to it.
Actually I don't remember how popular this series was competitively. 5 just seemed to have came and went...
Anyways, we won't know what exactly they're doing until we see more of the game. Right now I think it's kind of pointless to speculate, but I feel like they're being more serious about it this time.

Given what I've heard about DOA 5, sounds like what they did in general (excluding the stupid amount of DLC alts outfits) was pretty good.
Changing and evolving is part of life. Just because someone felt someway about something years back doesn't mean they're gonna continue so in the present.

Maybe so, but I recall DOA 5's development being stop somewhere last year. DOA's fanservice isn't any worse than the average fighting game to begin with. They want to be taken seriously all they gotta do they is what they did with DOA 5.
Oh yeah, because fighting games coming without their most basic modes, auto combo systems everywhere as if taking casual players for dumb, half-baked stories subpar even to their previous entries and crescent pandering to competitors rather than all players are not signals of decline.
Yeah, right.
Is it that hard to just make a game that I can put on the console, turn it up, and fight ten enemies to get an ending for the character I chose? Or even learn combos by my own, or by watching tutorials on the Internet like normal people? Have those devs really lost their hand at making a goddamn true fighting game that respects every player?
(And yeah, auto combo systems are basically developers taking casuals for dumb. I didn't come to learn Blaz Blue or Street Fighter by autoplaying combos at the mashing of a single button, and I criticised that system on The King of Fighters XIV as well. My Street Fighter Alpha 3 combo videos didn't come from auto combos, it came from me learning how to chain attacks together. Not from some senseless mashing.)
