Bumping this for a possible split.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickYeah, sounds like two different tropes lumped onto one page because of the dual meaning of the word "dream". I support the suggestion to split.
I also support splitting this.
Clearly two different tropes shoved into one. +1 for split.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"+1 to split; I like the suggested names in the OP.
for a split.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope Reportfor split.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Done yet?
MAX POWER KILL JEEEEEEEEWWWWWI sandboxed the split. Feel free to improve on it:
- Dreams Of Flying
- Call Of The Wild Blue Yonder
- To be indexed under Flying Tropes
- Image missing
It was fairly easy to separate both concepts except for Once Upon a Forest where a dream of flying leads to pursuing that dream.
To-do list for rollout:
- Change trope name on work pages that ought be listed on Call Of The Wild Blue Yonder.

My apologies for this confusing detail. When I began the trope over at YKTTW, I meant it to apply to those who long to fly. However, some of the example suppliers took it literally and suggested actual dreams, with one telling me that the trope could apply to both. Sorry to give everyone a headache about that one.
A man who admires many forms of fiction.^^ I think the name Flying Dream, in analogy to e.g. "Not Wearing Pants" Dream, Erotic Dream, etc., would be more clear for the "literal dream of Flight" trope than Dreams of Flying.

You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"Flying Dream sounds awkward. I'd rather break with the convention here and keep the current name.
I'm sure we could find an image for Call of the Wild Blue Yonder later on down the line if not now. For now, I think both sandbox pages look pretty good so far.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportFound this DeviantArt pic that could be used for Call of the Wild Blue Yonder. Or for a more subtle example, there's Empire of the Sun◊, where Christian Bale dreams of being a pilot.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"Mod approval for launching the suggestion in 11?
Bumping so this can stay open.
Join the Five-Man Band cleanup project! As for the image suggestions in 17, both are good contenders, if the artist of the former is all right with it being used as such. Otherwise, we could do the latter.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportThe pic that's currently on Sandbox.Dreams Of Flying doesn't look illustrative enough to me: there's nothing suggesting a dream. I couldn't find anything good with GIS, either.
On the other hand, both 17.1 and 17.2 are good for Call of the Wild Blue Yonder.

Join the Five-Man Band cleanup project!I think that is a topic best suited for Image Pickin. Let's focus on the rename, because that's what needs to be done before this can close.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?In that case, I'll start an Image Pickin' thread once these get launched.
Join the Five-Man Band cleanup project!Sounds like a plan.
As for the sandboxes, shall they be launched? They've been ready for quite a while now.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportAs for why I can't launch them, I'm on an iPad so I can't copy/paste the text from the edit window. I'll need someone on a desktop to do it.

I have the same confusion about this trope as Paul A mentioned in the trope discussion page. The initial trope description implies that this trope is about characters who feel the urge to fly or to learn how to fly. The character feels some kind of yearning for the sky or for the freedom to fly like a bird.
At the end of the description, however, is this statement: "This trope also applies to those who have literal dreams of flight. "
I'm interpreting "literal dreams of flight" as "a person is asleep and has a dream in which he is flying."
I'm guessing we might actually have two different tropes here. If we do indeed have two tropes, here are possible names:
Trope #1: Call Of The Wild Blue Yonder - A character feels the urge to learn how to fly or to learn how to do something involving flight. Examples might be the animated movie Rio, Homer Hickam in October Sky, or Disney's The Kid. This trope would go under the Flying Tropes index.
Trope #2: Dream Flying - A character is sleeping and has a dream in which he is flying through the air on his own. Examples might be The Dude in The Big Lebowski, Kevin Kline in Grand Canyon, and Ethan Hawke in Explorers. This trope would go in both the Dream Tropes index and the Flying Tropes index as well.
Any ideas?
