And that is why I'm thankful for Seth Mac Farlane. So nobody from my state has to say, "Well, the Underdog movie was filmed here..."

The Masters of the Universe adaptation was So Bad, It's Good in my opinion, but then again so is the cartoon it was adapted from. Good for a night of snarking and playing drinking games with your friends at least.

I didn't want to make a thread about this, so I'll just post it here

so, is the Marvin the Martian live action movie still happening? I remember a lot of sites and people talking about it, but it faded into obscurity..

I liked the use of the Home Alone soundtrack.

I have to say I have a lot of affection for the live action Speed Racer film. It captured a great deal of the feel of the cartoons, in my opinion. Good goofy fun.

Is there a thing like a good live action adaptation? I keep thinking, but I come up blank.

As was mentioned before: George of the Jungle. It's a live-action cartoon done right. A very self-aware comedy that is part parody of Tarzan, part pantomine. It knows to keep the ridicule at the highest, everyone's performance is just right, it never lets up for a moment and the jokes can be quite clever. Also the animals look like real animals doing all the wrong things.

Watch out for that tree!

So far, George of the Jungle is my favorite live-action adaptation of an animated work. It was not by any means a great movie, but it did provide me with plenty of laughs.

I don't typically go for these sorts of movies but I found the first live-action Scooby Doo movie to be pretty amusing.

The problem with the Mr. Magoo movie is that not only is Leslie Nielsen no Jim Backus, but the fact that what's funny in a 7-minute short does not translate well to an hour and a half-long movie.
I dunno, I thought Mr. Bean's Holiday was pretty funny.

I was rather fond of the Live action Death Note.

For western animation I'll say the first TMNT film was pretty good.

That was an adaptation of the comics, though. Golden Harvest was forbidden from using any characters created for the cartoon. That's why Tokka and Rahzarr were invented.

[up][up][up] Then again, that started out as a half-hour series. Half-hour stuff is better to adapt into movie form.
