There's a million other possibilities in APC alone:
"Fire Dogs 2," which is taken up by too much time of Ralph Bakshi being disgusting?
"Altruists," a nearly 40-minute long Three Stooges tribute that wastes most of its time on unfunny gags - we get it, sawing a log on Stimpy's butt is like gay sex!
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."I guess that the episode hit him on a more personal note. I mean, he was bullied a lot as a kid and his dog died a couple of months ago...
You know, why don't we wait till that Animated Atrocities episode comes out. From my speculation, he hasn't even touched the surface on why he hates the episode. He'll probably give a more in-depth look into the episode in his review of it.
boop I'm more active on hereIn the Deviantart link, he mentions that there's a lot of animal abuse in Ren Seeks Help, which is a major Berserk Button of his (see his reviews of A Pal for Gary, Pet Sitter Pat and Pinky Elmyra & the Brain).

I love to learn, I love to yearn, and most of all... I love to make money. The closest thing I could consider for an animated "atrocity" for the APC would be Onward and Upward. Mostly for the scenes of Ren and Stimpy living in a spit bowl eating barf. Eww.
Also, I don't know if it's just me, or has there been a lot Ren and Stimpy hate on the internet lately? I've notice that people despise the show more than before. Including the first 2 seasons. Maybe it's been that way for a long time, but it's like a new trend or something :/
Supports cartoons being cartoony! It's backlash from people getting to know the real John K.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatYeah, about that... where's all the hate for John Kricfalusi coming from, anyway?
I'm not trying to defend him, I'm just out of the loop. Is he a douchebag IRL or something?
I love to learn, I love to yearn, and most of all... I love to make money.I've heard that he can be a bit of a jerk at times, or that at the very least he's very nitpicky about animation stuff. Mind you, I'm not bashing him {I barely know anything about John K. as a person, I just know that he made Ren and Stimpy and even use to voice some of the characters}, I'm just going by what very little I've heard about him.

Looking around on the net, it seems that he was at least a bit whiny and bitter on his blog, yeah.
Seems most of it was made private, though, and I don't feel like prowling through the Wayback Machine.
And then there's this thing of broken promises.

The reason is more straightforward.
Were I a more George Liquor type of person, I'd say that we're becoming a nation of wimps and we need to be less wimpy and become MANLY MEN!
But the fact is, they seem to be a Vocal Minority. A lot of people I know in real life really enjoy the show when they've seen it.
As for John K., the fact that Billy West won't work with him ever again says a LOT.

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."He mentioned in the dA page that Ren had serious Character Derailment.
So at the very least he has background knowledge on Ren And Stimpy. He admitted in the Sanjay And Craig Animated Atrocity that he doesn't like the original R&S, but that it did know how to pull off the kind of humour it was aiming for.

I'm having to learn to pay the priceWhat Character Derailment?...
Because he's shown to do horrible, horrible stuff? May I remind you that Ren once considered killing Stimpy? And that was in the Spumco era?
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."
We don't know what exactly he's talking about yet. Let's just wait until the video comes out before we go around jumping to conclusions.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceThen let's see if he knows what the heck he's talking about...
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."I'm trying to figure out how someone could get some research wrong like not knowing why oil rigs need to burn fire, or what happened with the writers of "Putting Your Hoof Down", and yet still have the patience to manually count how many times "waffles" is uttered in the span of a nauseating 11-minute TTG episode!
I'm gonna sound a bit odd by saying this and PLEASE no one start a flame way because of this, but... I honestly have no idea what people are saying about Adult Party being awful. I seen most of it years ago, and it's nowhere near as bad as people say it is. It's not GOOD, but still not awful.
... and Mr. Enter also wants to make a redone version of one of the Shorty McShort Shorts. That's right. A pilot produced by Mr. Enter! This can become either really good or bad.

Well, at least nobody told him "You want to criticize writers? Let's see you do better!"
Though I don't think this pilot is going to get anywhere. He outright admitted he stole the idea from another series. Generally, that doesn't fly with companies. He might even get sued by the guy who originally did the short.
And I don't think "You should thank me - your original short sucked, and I'm improving it" is a good defense.

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."Character Derailment?
Now I have to see this video. Hopefully he did good research for this episode. I happen to like it.. Though I understand why others wouldnt. Especially animal lovers.
And most of things Ren did in the episode were basically things John did in his childhood. I remember him saying this on his blog and in an interview. Such as blowing up action figures with fireworks or getting in trouble with his father when getting caught smoking (which in Ren's case, torturing the frog.)

Supports cartoons being cartoony!Even as a huge fan of Mr. Enter, I'll admit that I have no interest in Growing Around even if it does end up being good, nor do I think it'll go anywhere. What I think he should have done was write fan fiction about that idea instead of actually trying to make a TV Series out of it. It would be far more easier, less expensive and he wouldn't have the chance of getting sued over it either.

"Yup. That tasted purple."Then again, while not everybody knows the ins and outs of copyright law, it's generally known that if you try and take someone else's idea and modify it, it's pretty much stealing and they have the grounds to sue you.
Why he didn't know this is beyond me.

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."I'm sure all the Superman parodies and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles knock-offs from the 80-90s are shaking in their metaphorical boots.
edited 30th Jul '14 6:13:29 PM by Grounder
Parody is different from "knockoff".
And when these knockoffs were being made the idea was "Hey, this is selling really well. Let's make something like it so morons won't be able to tell what it is, but distinct enough so they can't sue." Ratatoing has a different plot than Ratatouille, but it's a knockoff because they were trying to cash in on the much better film.
This, however, is different. He's literally taking the idea of another person and repurposing it as his own - and he outright said so.
That's kind of copyright theft, and that's kind of illegal. He ought to know better, particularly when it could get him in trouble.

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."I'm still lost on what he means by "the short has potential, but wasted it". I'm not sure why he didn't want to do the "Too many robots" instead, sounds way more interesting.
I kinda can't see this show becoming official. It feels as if he's eating more than he can chew, esp.since he wants this to be an actual cartoon, with animation and music and all that jazz.Even if it does(and that's a *BIG* if),I really don't see it as that interesting of an idea.

My Tumblr "If theirs one thing I'm good at, it's blowing" Jesse Cox 2013As I said... copyright law.
It won't make it at all if the creator of the original short finds out about it.

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."
I think that it's because Mr. Enter has watched a lot of Gross Out Shows on Animated Atrocities (including the next Animated Atrocity on his list, Mega Babies, which was his former least favorite show by the way). I guess he's practically immune to them right now.
