Two DLC characters from other video game franchises?
Mitsurugi would be a safe bet.
Somehow they'll look at working in Pac-Man.
Who else?
Currently reading up My Rule Fu Is Stronger than YoursAkira from Virtua Fighter?
Virtual Fighter seems to be teamed up with Dead or Alive.
Then again, there is Project × Zone, so I suppose it's not completely impossible.
One Strip! One Strip!I can think of two way out there characters.
Shepard. Shepard. Andromeda is released this year and s/he is a cross brand character so licensing wouldn't be that much of an issue, and by far the most well known BioWare character and right up there with the Chief and Link or Samus. Shepard.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She is actually an idea for a guest fighter in the next Mortal Kombat but everyone wants Spawn instead. Twenty year anniversery, not a game character as such but Harada being Harada could mean this or maybe this.
Currently reading up My Rule Fu Is Stronger than YoursI get the feeling we'll have one western property from an up and coming or recently released game, kind of like how Soul Calibur did in every entry after the first except for 3, and a Japanese one in a similar situation.
I could see someone like Tifa Lockheart from Square Enix for the latter and someone from the new Mass Effect for the former, like the above said.
I think Tifa would have fit in better with DOA really.
Then again, she had Grapple moves in Ehrgeiz, so maybe that's not so crazy.
One Strip! One Strip!Tifa would probably be OP. she could hold off a clone of Sephiroth just fine after years of degraded strength, and Sephiroth is quite above the weight class of everyone in tekken excepts the bosses.
Watch Symphogearwho the fuck cares it's a fighting game
Canonical powerful levels don't mean anything in the actual video game.

True. Just saying they'd need to balance her like they did with Akuma, she uses a lot of Ki attacks.
Watch SymphogearShe also has three different potential move-sets she can use, so they gotta decided where to pull from.
One Strip! One Strip!None of them are ranged, though. Stuff like Dolphin Blow has an equivalent in Kasumi's literal Tiger Uppercut, so it wouldn't even be that weird. Her classic Limit Break chain would make an easy Rage Art, too, so you could even restrict them to just that.
I said her rather than, say, Cloud or Vincent exactly because she's a mostly mundane martial artist.
Actually, she had a few fireballs in Ehrgeiz.
And she had some ice projectiles in Dissidia as well.
But yeah, projectiles aren't really a thing with Tifa.

One Strip! One Strip!I mean
she could use those things
or she could just not bring Materia and just strictly focus on martial arts. It wouldn't be the end of the world if she did since Eliza and Akuma have projectiles too, but it would totally be in character for her to not have any sort of magic or special abilities outside her Limit Breaks.
This is true.
I mean, I expect them to mostly focus on her classic game move set to be honest. I was just mostly pointing out that if they wanted to, they have a lot to work with.
One Strip! One Strip!I actually think Kazuma Kiryu would be a great choice for a guest character. He focuses on hand to hand fighting in his own game, he's got a distinct look, and we're starting to see Yakuza gain traction in the west. Although if it came down to only one Sega rep, I can't help but feel Akira would make it in over him.

A corpse should be left well enough alone...The guest should be Goku.
That's a joke, by the way.
I don't care for guest fighters in general. I can tolerate characters from other fighting games, but when you bring in characters from non-fighting games or movies, etc, it starts to feel too much like Smash Bros or even M.U.G.E.N.; and I'm not saying those games aren't fun, I'm just saying they're the things I'd play if I wanted a big old-fashioned crossover meleenote . Having, say, Darth Vader or Kratos randomly show up in an otherwise 'normal' fighting game just comes off as jarring to me, even if it's common practice.
"If you think like a child, you will do a child's work."Ezio in SCV was probably the best Guest Character because he actually fit in pretty well.
Yeah, I agree. I'm hoping they keep with thematically appropriate characters but Tekken does whatever the heck it wants lately, so it's as likely as it isn't that we'll get someone that fits.
It's a shame modern audiences in the west sleep on Tekken so much. Look at all those customization options you're getting for the absolutely nothing in the way of real life currency.
And yet they'll drop 5-10 dollars on a single DLC costume in a Capcom fighter.
There's also going to be individual mini-stories for people that aren't Mishimas, so they get to do stuff in story mode, too.

If they'd actually release the game instead of "trailer here" and "character announcement there" and "limited arcade release" for like the better part of a year...
Compared to Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, Street Fighter V, and Injustice 2 this game feels like it's been in development forever.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Well, where I come from Tekken is THE fighting game.
It's out in less than two months.
I don't speak Japanese but what exactly is the Story Mode they described? It it one of those dealies where you're switching perspectives between multiple characters like in Injustice and the newer Mortal Kombat games?
It probably hasn't, but I swear it feels like development on this game is taking forever. I don't remember ever feeling like I'd waited this long for another fighting game - there were always games in the interrim.
Maybe it's just because I skipped Tekken Tag 2.
