Not so much a preview as one of those lists we make of what we'll be watching

I'd say they're stupid for hating like 70% of the season before it even starts. Also, they complain a lot about stereotypical pretentious anime fan complaints tongue

Most anime previews are not particularly useful, especially when personal tastes is atypical. I learned this once I start liking Future Card Buddyfight. In fact, it is outright impossible to find a preview that previews everything. At best, anime for kids would be outright ignored, which made me confused on which of these things are the better ones.

Writers' opinions aren't too terribly useful, but providing information on the upcoming shows is generally pretty helpful for people who haven't been obsessively following the news

You mean the things that pretentious anime fans stereotypically complain about? Or the complaints themselves? Because only the former makes sense to me, but your sentence structure suggests the latter.

Anyway, yeah, all I really got out of a skim of that list is to reaffirm my view that professional critics are worthless to me. Mechanically panning everything with a hint of guilty pleasure and exalting everything either overly artsy, overly dark/mature or based on old franchises/styles. The one big surprise is to see Cross Ange in the second section; nevertheless, I still expect to be queueing up a larger proportion of the shows that blog *doesn't* like than the ones it does.

A lot of his complaints are overly nitpicky, such as the ones for Terra Formars and Fate Stay Night (most fate fans seem to agree the DEEN adaptations are terrible and are rejoicing the fact that it's going to get a presumably good adaptation).

I'd say they're stupid for hating like 70% of the season before it even starts.

Hating it might be a bit too much, but 70% of any given season doesn't really interest me much nowadays either.

granted part of that is just my personal tastes; feel free to call me a pretentious anime fan for

everything either overly artsy, overly dark/mature or based on old franchises/styles

being the only things i care about nowadays, but i don't think being uninterested in most of a season is an unreasonable opinion.

You would be surprised how easy it is to ignore bloggers you don't agree with. I haven't read that particular list, but I'm familiar with the blogger so it's pretty easy to guess his tastes. While I do respect the desire to hold your entertainment to higher standards, he does have a tendency to pre-judge things and confirmation biases and all that.

That said, why do we care? This confuses me.

Fate Stay Night (most fate fans seem to agree the DEEN adaptations are terrible and are rejoicing the fact that it's going to get a presumably good adaptation).

Funnily enough, that was the one that struck me as the most reasonable: "Goddamn, more Fate? And something that's already been animated, at that? ...I wish ufotable would branch out more"

That said, why do we care? This confuses me.

Things are ending, so people are getting interested in the new season, and this is the most recent thing to discuss. Probably

I don't like that they are animating parts of the visual novel again either...I mean, I like the Fate franchise, but the original doesn't really interest me anymore in a Seinfeld Is Unfunny kind of way.

The way how the protagonist of Akatsuki no Yona makes me think of Sakura Chiyo's eyes makes me wonder if I'll be able to take it seriously...

MMORPGs are serious business.

[up][up] Not even if they took back the Toriko license from Toei and animated in the style that they did with the original OVA?

Fall 2014 looks promising and, after looking at most of the previews, I am more excited for the cour to start than ever. Here are my verdicts:

  • Will Watch from Start to Finish

  • Will Watch the First 3 Episodes
    • Cross Ange
    • Shingeki no Bahamut Genesis

  • Will Check Reviews First
    • Akatsuki no Yona
    • Garo: The Anime (I enjoy the original live-action TV series, so I'll likely watch the first episode regardless.)
    • Kiseiju
    • World Trigger

Those not listed will be skipped completely.

Hm. I hope the lack of promo art for Yuuji is just standard 'Only show the girls' stuff and not a sign that they intend to downplay his role in Grisaia. That's pretty much the quickest way to completely ruin the story.

Once again L Dragon, do you always have to ask us stuff like this? You do that a lot.

I thought this one was really amusing though.

In any case, many bloggers are bemoaning the number of LN adaptations this upcoming season contains. You guys think there are too many?
