First is watermarked, second is incredibly vague, and third, ignoring that it's a joke suggestion, is a great example but terrible image.
Something like the first could probably work, although I'm concerned about overlap with Apathetic Citizens.
Moon◊Agreed on all counts. The second one is actually from a UK news story about a man dying on the ground while people just walked past him for two whole hours.
Couldn't find a non-watermarked version of the first image, or any other illustrations that represented the trope that well. Hoping it'll spark some inspiration here though.
On a semi-related note, the trope has a No Real Life Examples tag, but that should probably change, considering just how often in happens (off the top of my head, a woman who died in the US while in police custody and a man in China who collapsed in the middle of the road and nearly go run over several times while pedestrians just walked right past him).
"Get me a gun, I'm a soldier; but put me in that suit and I'm a superhero." - Gunnery Sgt Roberta "Bobbie" Draper MMCNo, the fact that it happens a lot in Real Life doesn't mean that the NRLEP tag should be removed. On the contrary, it is a good reason for the tag to stay, since otherwise the Real Life section is highly likely to become a bloated pointless listing of all sorts of times this happened, or is thought to have happened, or might have happened, or could have been what happened.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Fair point. So about the image?
"Get me a gun, I'm a soldier; but put me in that suit and I'm a superhero." - Gunnery Sgt Roberta "Bobbie" Draper MMCI'm not happy with any of the suggestions, and don't have a suggestion of my own to make. I'll do some looking around later.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I agree with everyone else. Not to be harsh, but all these suggestions, well, suck. And please use CamelCase when imputing the article name.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.I've been turning over the idea in my mind for a while. But I could possibly maybe illustrate an image to show this trope. I don't know if that kind of thing is considered or allowed. But I can't find a clear image or one of good quality.
It is what it is.Sorry, ginseng, but I have to agree that the top post options aren't that good.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanFeel free to make an image for anything being discussed.
Not a problem, Septimus - I wasn't expecting any of them to get used - like everyone who has looked, I couldn't find anything decent. The suggestions are there for inspiration more than anything else.
"Get me a gun, I'm a soldier; but put me in that suit and I'm a superhero." - Gunnery Sgt Roberta "Bobbie" Draper MMCOkay. I sketched this up, and I'm not quite done with the coloring and text. However, here is some progress anyway.
What do you all think? Shall I continue with this idea? Am I on the right track?
Or do you guys have a a better concept? I'm all ears!
Dialogue is real small: It says:
Man: Help me! Honey! It's suffocating me to death!
Woman: Remember how you said I better make you a damn sandwich? Now's the perfect time for me to go do that.

It is what it is.I like it.
I like it a lot.
Suggestion: I think the victim's line could be cut entirely and the visual alone would be enough to establish his situation - whereas the perpetrator would simply need to say "Hmm, I think I'll go make you that sandwich now." or something more coy and subtle than what she's currently saying to make her intentions clear without pushing the point Up To 11.
Other than that, keep it up!
"Get me a gun, I'm a soldier; but put me in that suit and I'm a superhero." - Gunnery Sgt Roberta "Bobbie" Draper MMCThat's a good start.
Oh I like that idea. I will make the dialogue change for sure.
Thanks! I think when I finish this one, I'll do another hard to illustrate trope. God knows I need to creative outlet.
It is what it is.I like the concept a lot. The dialogue should be easy to read, though. The one here seems too small for me. Other than that, I think it's very good.
I'll clean up my handwriting a bit and make it bigger after I crop the image. If that doesn't look good though I'll go ahead and use a font instead.
It is what it is.Nitpicking, but I'd probably also change the man's dialog to something like "H... help... can't... breathe..."
Being able to talk at length while being suffocated strikes me as a little odd, is all.
Moon◊I was going for 50s Cheese. :D
I'm going to cut down the dialogue and let the image do the talking.
While I'm here, I was thinking about doing a vector version or this. Any opinions on the matter?
Stay tuned guys.
It is what it is.Vector art would almost certainly look better for an illustration in this context.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Good. I'll switch over then.
It is what it is.Okay. How about this?

It is what it is.Nice color. Just one complaint: the text is hard to read. It's a combination of the size and style.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed. To nitpick: (1) I might put quotation marks around "damn sandwich", especially if it's supposed to imply she is repeating something he said. (2) The type gets a little close to the art now, maybe move it upward. (3) It is clear without the hyphen (or any other graphic indication) that the woman is speaking. (4) The use of drop-shadow is inconsistent, for example on the woman her dress (and only her dress) has it; is that intentional?
It's fine as-is, though.

Hello. New trope, needs an image.
Trope: Letting someone in mortal peril perish.

Any other suggestions?
