As IO 9 reports, there's a live-action Kite movie. Starring some girl and Samuel L. Jackson. Of course, since it's a movie about a girl with a red space blaster, there is a red space blaster. And the bullets go boom as they should. What I'm not sold on is the choice of soundtrack. Seriously, Skrillex's "Syndicate"?! Makes no sense!

Check for yourselves.

How timely, I was watching Bennett the Sage's review on this the other day.

I'm a little confused as to who's playing who. Is Jackson the evil boss, or is he an original character? Also, I've heard that India Eisley can't act and those clips didn't convince me otherwise.

After reading scathing reviews of Sad Keanu and the 47 Ronin, I'm not putting much faith in this one. Even if it has Samuel L. Jackson in it.

Hollywood sucks. :P

He was pretty much the only entertaining thing in the Oldboy remake.

Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great

Allow me to shake the bell, call "Bring out your dead!" and say a thing or two about this adaptation.

It's very much Bleached Underpants. The main gist is similar, but luckily without gratuitous sex the original was infamous for. Both Akai (renamed Aker and played by Samuel L. Jackson) and Oburi survive the events of the film, and Kanie (renamed Breedlove) goes through Redemption Equals Death. All in all, it's a mediocre film, but pretty much stands on its own as popcorn fare.

... Akai freaking lives in the remake? That's... wow. Though nice that Oburi's counterpart lives. That was one of the lamest Diabolus ex Machina I'd seen in a while. A twist for the sake of a twist no matter how little sense it made.

[up] Yes, he lives, but he gets arrested by the Reasonable Authority Figure and the By-the-Book Cop who appear in the background several times. That, and Sawa mindwipes him so he can't point her out as his accomplice.

And Oburi is even named Oburi, which is doubly weird considering his father is named Otis, making it look like a case of Aerith and Bob. I would be less surprised if the writers renamed him Aubrey.

India Eisley...well, the only other I thing I know she was in was one of those Lifetime V.C. Andrews Movies. She was My Sweet Audrina I think. Don't know what that says about her skills though.
