The "Can't Hold Us" video deserves at least one award. It's awesome and well done as a work.
I'm anticipating a sweep by them. All of their videos are great and they have 3 (!) all up for nomination.
Blurred Lines for best video?
Seriously?
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianYeah.
That.
It's like it was filmed with an Instagram filter. And the explicit version is just creepy. Macklemore or Justin Timberlake will probably take that award home. At least their videos are decent.
I wouldn't say it's all that creepy*. That implies that they actually put some thought into it (even if it would've been misguided thought). The video's just lazy and boring, whether it's the explicit video or SFW video.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. This article says that the video was supposed to be satire. Of course, it fails at that
"We Can't Stop" is a better video than that, personally. It's weird, but more entertaining to watch in terms of all the images within it.
"We Can't Stop" at least seems like it's a joke, but the problem is, it's so bad at it that the joke ends up being at the expense of the video rather than having you laugh with the video. It may be intentionally ridiculous, but "ridiculous" doesn't always mean "good".
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Macklemore is definitely gonna win. The video sucks but he's still gonna win.
I've read some rumors that Kanye West is supposed to preform "BLKK SKKNHD".
I live in a constant state of fear and misery.I wouldn't be surprised if it did start off as a Stealth Parody of Contractual Purity, but the problem is if your constantly acting like the stereotype you're satirizing, it loses all meaning.
Bumping this because after last night, I honestly think Miley has become my personal Scrappy of the music industry.

Gaga is a class act.
And a bit of a pimp◊ as well.
Miley and Robin: Bravo, you made Corey Feldman look like the more dignified performer.

I'm a skeptical squirrelSo an independent artist managed to win multiple awards at the VMAs.
This was a good show.
So all I know about this show was apparently she twerked in front Robin Thicke or something. Can't tell if she really wants people to see her as a "grown-up" or really wants to stay relevant.

I think you accidentally 's name.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Whatever are you talking about?
As harsh as it sounds, I honestly think she's just being an Attention Whore. It's like a troll who derails a thread.
"I'M AN ADUUUUULT!!!"
Apparently there's also some controversy that she went out of her way to objectify black women by equating them with sexual promiscuity and lasciviousness.
I wasn't aware of that bit of controversy.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. All I know is that she and Taylor both need to grow the fuck up.
Looking for some stories?Meh, Taylor already tried her hand at being mature and kinda failed at it. Let her have her fun while she's still kinda young. Besides, from what I hear, she controls all of her business assets and is actually a pretty ruthless businesswoman (which I'd be inclined to believe), so hey. And at least her stuff is more of a naive, innocent fun, which I mind far less than "I'm all in your face about how adult and sexual I am!"
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. And, ironically, "I'm all in your face about how adult and sexual I am!" is a child's idea of adulthood, not actually being adult. Is anyone else getting a Dickie Roberts vibe from this whole thing?
Also, Gaga: You've run out of shock value with the outfits. I neither know nor care what do you do or don't wear. Please, just... sing. It's what you're good at.
As for Gaga, performance art is easy. Doing performance art well is haaard.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. But the whole reason she got into this music gig was so she'd have a reason to change clothes every six minutes!
She's the fashionista, that's her thing. I don't mind it.
I'm a skeptical squirrelHey, at least she's demonstrated some legitimately talented musical background. I'd say she's more than earned the right to play dress-up on a mass scale.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.lady gaga is not a french fry, u gais.

Miley Cyrus is probably waiting to jump on the chance to give the final proverbial middle finger to Disney and Hannah Montana. She's probably going to perform as well.
The nominations are bewildering. "Same Love" is obviously going to win the social message category.
