I found this article through And Now for Someone Completely Different. I think a compilation of the covers for Half-Life 1, Opposing Force, and Blue Shift side-by-side would work, since the expansion packs are basically HL1 from two other perspectives.

Here are all the covers merged in a single image. [1]

[down] You're right on the last image, but the first three are covers to three different games. Unfortunately, placing them side by side and reducing them to 350 makes the titles hard to read. I'll try arranging them like this:

  HL
OF  BS

or

HL
OF
BS

Unfortunately, the cover makes it look like you can just choose between three different characters. Nothing that indicates that each one has their own completely unrelated story that all overlaps with each other.

Hmm. I wish I could get a screenshot of it. Persona 3 Portable offers the ability to play as a new character, and at the character select screen at the start of the game, it flat out states that certain social links and story elements will be changed.

I wonder if it's best for this page or P.O.V. Sequel. Expansion packs are kind of half sequels, depending on how they're done.

[up][up]That configuration works best, I think.

[up] It would work for either. Which trope is more appropriate for this image, I'm not exactly sure.

Seeing if it looks better at 350. I think it does.

It has my vote for ASAS, pending another suggestion cropping up. I think that since you can see "expansion pack" on one of them that it's clear they're not necessarily sequels or continuations (not obvious, but clear).

Bump. I was thinking that we could use the HL pic for this page and the cover art of The Lion King 1-1/2 for P.O.V. Sequel.

That's a good suggestion. This is clearly about Timon and Pumba. I support that.

I support both Half-Life and The Lion King for these pages.[tup]

Yes, even if someone is unfamiliar with the movie The Lion King and the characters Timon and Pumba, that is clearly a sequel and that is clearly not a lion.

Edited to add: Was talking about putting that on P.O.V. Sequel.

A few more votes for 10 and we can go with that on P.O.V. Sequel. Same thing for 6 and Another Side, Another Story.

I don't like 6... it's JAFAAC, as far as I'm concerned. Without context, all it shows is that there are three Half-Life games, with different generic soldiers on the covers instead of a nerd. Nothing says that they cover the same period or anything.

Maybe the side select screen from Sonic Adventure 2? I like that there's also "Last?" side, which underscores the idea that it might come after beating the game.

[up] That's not bad...crowner between that and the HL pic for Another Side, Another Story?

Anyone else for the Lion King pic for P.O.V. Sequel?

I'm good with Lion King for POV sequel, if it still needs support.

I like the Sonic Adventure 2 one better because although both rely on text, it's much more legible there than on the Half-Life image.

... what text on the Half Life image? To me there's nothing that indicates that they're showing the same incident from different PO Vs at all from the covers, making me think they're not a good example.

The Sonic one doesn't really work. Half-Life is best so far.

I'm afraid I don't really get how the Half-Life one works, either. First off, it at best looks more like P.O.V. Sequel than Another Side, Another Story since there's clearly three games (or are expansion packs not counted as sequels? Because it's on the page for P.O.V. Sequel). Even if expansion packs don't count as sequels, the words "expansion pack" are tiny and tough to read.

Even getting past that, it doesn't even scream POV flip to me. Non-POV flipped games have different characters on the covers all the time. Nothing about the covers themselves show that it's the same thing from another side, or heck, a completely unrelated mod (like Counterstrike).

If someone can let me know how those covers are illustrative, then it'd have my support. Visually, I don't like the Sonic Adventure one either, but it's less misleading.

[up] The green one does technically say "Opposing Force", but it's not really clear as to who it's opposing, and it's barely legible compared to the "Hero" and "Dark" in the SA2 image.
