Needs Help: Pocky

The article (and it's examples) are just "this candy appeared in work at some point", so it doesn't seem to be an actual trope. It only has 25 wicks and 27 inbounds despite being about four years old now, according to it's YKTTW. If it's going to be kept at all, would it be feasible to move it to UsefulNotes/ ^note not sure what should happen to the examples if that if it's moved to that namespace? I feel no matter what happens to Pocky, it should not be treated like a trope.

The examples are "this work uses a Pocky", but the way the description is written it doesn't look like something that would warrant an Useful Notes page - too little information and the presence of Pocky in works seems not to be worthy of listing. I'd actually cut this.

Cut the article from the wiki, it is not a trope anymore than characters eating Mars Bars is a trope. I have no opinion on whether we make a 'Useful Notes' article on this.

The closest to a trope is the Pocky Dare, or whatever it's called, which is really just a Pocky variant of Spaghetti Kiss. Usually doesn't get to the kiss part, though.

I'd be fine with cutting it.

The Pocky Spaghetti Kiss or pocky as an Oral Fixation Fixation might be subtropes if they had enough examples. As it is though, examples can probably go on both those pages, and the pocky page could just be cut.

A pocky kiss can go on Spaghetti Kiss — same principle. For an Oral Fixation Fixation, I imaging that all that matters about the food is sweet/savory/spicy, since that's something other characters might comment on but further distinctions — like pocky as its own subtrope — aren't needed. Supporting cutting this page.

(Damn, I'm in Yack Fest too much and keep thinking about the troper called Pocky. This post was strange to write.)

Yeah, cut it. A list of "all works containing some object" is not a trope.

I think the second would just be the character having it as a Trademark Favorite Food

Also, yes, it probably needs cut. It's almost as bad as when people kept using My Little Pony as a trope on works mentioning it(yes, I'm a brony and I think that was stupid)

I'm almost tempted to archive this somewhere as a classic example of Not A Trope. In some ways, it's a better example than People Sitting On Chairs.

I don't think it is. Pocky, at least, brings up the ideas of a culture and another country's fascination with that culture. Not a trope, but I don't think it gets the idea across better. I like People Sit On Chairs because there's a lot of things you can associate with that trope—just not literally them sitting down.

Anyway, I say cut. It's not a Useful Notes either, I think. If there's a Useful Notes for Japanese culture or otaku culture add a blurb, but otherwise it's not terribly more useful than literally just naming everything the Japanese eat.

Same. It's a pretty Useless Note.

I'm pretty sure 25 is more inbounds than the cutmasters like to cut.
