Racial integration? In MY South?
Apparently, before now, it was less likely than you'd think.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Hell, even my school had integrated proms..
And they had their "Who's who"* split into white-black.
Well, that's disorienting. I've never heard of a segregated prom before, and I'm from Alabama.

You need an adult.I read about this a a while ago. I was amused to see in the comment section that the most outraged people were other Georgians who swore up and down that they never knew this segregation thing had been happening.

Wow. America, you continue to impress. What radical change are you going to have next, a black president? Pfft. That'll be the day.

"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."That's probably the problem here. The segregation that still exists is not talked about and overlooked. So the people that do care but aren't close enough to the situation to see it themselves, never hear about it and thus assume it's not happening.

I...had no idea segregated proms were still accepted to begin with. I do recall the subject popping up in association with Sonny Perdue years ago, but I assumed that was an isolated incident.
This was apparently not a school set up prom, but set up by students and parents. So the tradition of it being segregated stay much, much longer. Not that the school should have let this go on like it did.

People are mirrors. If you smile, a smile will be reflected.That... doesn't really change much. The fact that it was a segregated prom in 2013, when America has had a black president for two terms is just as stupid whether it's made by the parents or the school.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I'm not saying the school isn't at fault for letting this happen for so long. The whole system and mindset is at fault.

And he may as well be pure black- everyone who refused to elect him based on his race saw him that way, and everyone who did elect him based on his race saw him that way, and history will most likely see him that way as well.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."AMERICA...
I'm so sorry that my avatar doesn't appear fully in the shot, but the cat was threatening the photographer.Yep, the entire country only consists of a few states in the South. Go figure.
This is a shame. Also they are giving Georgia a bad name. I have had to defend Georgia from people think that all proms here are segregated, when that is not the case AT ALL. Any segregation at my school is self-segregation, but that's another story.
*sigh* Why can't people just listen to Michael Jackson? Or Paul Mc Cartney and Stevie Wonder? Or Three Dog Night? Or...quick, what are some other pro-integration songs?!??

The year is still 2013, right? Not 1963?
