Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules (in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

Honestly, I agree: One of the biggest reasons I'm thankful for it is some prog concept albums which are basically massive works of literature all their own.
"Did you expect somebody else?"More observations: The quality of discussion here is surprisingly consistent. What I mean is, some sites you go to can have intelligent discussion about the merits of the different Marvel movies but you get accused of being an overly PC social justice warrior for suggesting that Black Widow get a movie. That doesn't happen that much here.
Used to happen a lot more. It took way too damn long for this site to ban all the MRAs.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here. There's still some, they just have to be more subtle. Anyone going full Return of Kings will feel the banhammer pretty swiftly.
Well, for the most part I meant. I mean, like, the full on hateboner ones.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.@William Radar Storm: That's actually an old trope from Usenet; when people on rec.arts.tv.mst3k.misc would imitate Torgo, ThEy WoUlD aLtErNaTe CaSe just like Gamzee.

online since 1993 | huge retrocomputing and TV nerd | lee4hmz.info (under construction) | heapershangout.comI've noticed that there's a whole community of people who regularly write reviews or comment on them without ever stepping into the forums. I would much like some of them to be around more, because I value what they have to say.
Also, a fair number of our reviews are not reviews in the sense of answering "Is this worth your time/admission price?" but more similar to blog posts. There are inter-fandom fighting pieces and angry rants that get taken down quickly, but more often they look at only one part of the show, such as the Korra review focused on defending one particular relationship. Helpful, but it's not really the place for them.
Sometimes this is hard to avoid, like with the notoriously difficult and polarising Evangelion. JesuOtaku normally does fine video reviews for newcomers, but with this she did one that is very good on analysis but requires watching the show first. Eva needs analysis like nothing else, but it's pointless to review it because it is a must-watch for anyone interested in the medium (not only does everyone take something different from it, it is so influential that it gives needed context for so much that came after).
As for the quality of reviews, I would place the wiki above most amateur review sites for the average review, but taking the crop of the best on both others have the edge (largely because of the 400-word limit).
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.Eh, as far as I've seen, the reviews on this site are about as on par as literally any site that allows users to review things (be it a show, a product, a business, etc.).
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. Not an observation per say, but I just found out that there is a function in this forum that you can save your post draft, called "save draft and go back"
........HOLY SHIT THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING, WHY DID I DISCOVER THIS FUNCTION SO LATE!!!!!!
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. If I'm not wrong, it came with the forum upgrade, so it wasn't too long ago.
Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation.Ah.
Seriously though, this function is awesome. Now I can take my time writing obscenely long posts!
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Whenever the topic of angels comes up, it's often followed by a discussion of what angels are supposed to look like.
I like to keep my audience riveted. Thanks to this site, my mind can't come up with a single consistent picture of angels.
Sometimes it's traditional, pretty lady (or a man who looks like one) in white clothing.
Sometimes it's Eldritch Abomination, as actually described in the Bible.
Sometimes it's the Angels.
Sometimes it's Mr. Bubbles.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I like to imagine them as a bunch of Moe Chibis who say 'Don't be afraid' because they're too cute and may scare people off for how their cuteness hurts.
"Did you expect somebody else?"I don't know about angels, but I like to imagine Death as very gentle and pretty looking person.

I like to keep my audience riveted.I've heard it said that the Devil often takes the form of a pretty woman.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I like to think: To those that are alive, Death takes a scary form so that they would value their life more.
To the dead, though, they are already dead and really, what reason is there to scare THEM? Might as well as make their bitter journey more comfortable.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. As far as discussions on social issues I actually enjoy it especially compared to the horrible extremism/echo chamber/trolling you find on a bunch of other sites. People acknowledge inequality and bad treatment of everyone no matter their gender or ethnicity.
Sometimes.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. Most of the entries on Painful Rhyme are really nitpicky. The way it seems to define a "proper" rhyme, 98% percent of song lyrics don't have them.

I'm actually really glad how many articles we have for albums now. Just about a year or two ago, we had little to no articles covering musical albums, but now, thanks to the work of mostly two specific people who hang around the music subforum but also many others as well, we've got enough articles on albums that the index for it needed to be folderized. As a huge music nerd, this makes me really happy.
