@Mely:

Blake and Sun spent so much time on a ship armed with bigass cannons.
[lol] Ow, I've fallen out of my chair now. Congrats, you've made my day! Though I think it's so unsubtle that it becomes subtle again.

As for what you said about Yang, you don't deserve to be slapped for saying that. Pride comes before a fall, and recklessly charging into said fall doesn't help matters much. Now we just have to see what lessons Yang learned from all this.

I'm assuming the ship is metaphorically Yang and that's funny for some reason.

I thought it was a metaphor for them being on a heavily-armed ship together. Their ship is well-defended and seaworthy.

I'm SO excited for Blake's subplot. Reforming the White Fang? Kicking Adam's ass?

Pffft, she 'gunna try. Adam 'Waifubeater Taurus ain't no one's fool. He's got two Volumes at least.

Yeah, the real question is how, So far Blake and Yang have reason to fight him and probably Sun will too but neither of them can beat is edgyblade, so far it will end like Raiden vs Wolverine, just fastertongue

I think Roosterteeth was teasing Bumblebee shippers by putting Blake and Sun on a ship together. A ship armed with cannons. They might've just as well named the ship Black Sun, too :p

And yeah, I doubt Blake and/or Yang will deal with that prick anytime soon, but it sure will be cathartic, heh. Do we know how long RWBY's going to last? I don't really see it ending anytime soon, there's still soooo much left to explain. Our heroines need to get a few levels in badass, too.

That... does not bode well.

Red vs Blue can ostensibly go on because it's largely comedic and relies mostly on machinima. RWBY is a costlier production using voice actors out of house, with far more media, fan projects, and localization involved.

I know they got bigger since joining up with Fullscreen but... I'm genuinely curious how they plan to keep this going. I think if they'd kept Season 1 and 2's tone and not given the heroes such a dramatic quest then maybe, maybe they could keep going. As it is, if we don't have some sign of resolution within 4 volumes, I might be done with this.

Like, they can't spend all of Volume 5 trying to get to Haven, can they? Yang can't spend 8 volumes not knowing who her mother is.

I've already got issue with how they come up with so many amazing tracks for this show and don't use them - Casey and Jeff are going to burn out sooner or later. And there's only so many thinly-veiled foreshadowing songs one can write about a single premise. Sooner or later the songs about how Darth Ozpin is secretly using child soldiers to fight wars for him, and how Blake and Weiss really feel about their upbringing/family are going to get repetitive.

[up][up][up]While I want Blake and Yang to beat Adam, I hope is with avery dificult battle, to many times a series let the hero just stomp him for the sake of catharsis, I want a battle were Adam and Blake really throw everything at each other, it give you a sense of why they fight and how much.

[up]they will swich cast, I remenber they said they have plan for hero as adult if things get well, so they can write other stories about RWBY without using the team or move well past that, make sense actually.

Regarding how long RWBY will go on for: Monty had plans for the story continuing with team RWBY's kids if demand and interest allowed them to continue. And before he passed away, he apparently had several volumes after 3 drafted out (I think the number was like, up to Volume 8 at the least?).

So basically, RWBY is planned to be a Long Runner

What did I not enjoy about this volume? Weiss's father. To be honest, I'm incredibly disappointed he turned out to be a moustache-twirling villain.

What I did like about Jacques or, more accurately, the way he was used in the volume, is his interactions with Ironwood.

Ironwood is a good man with a kind heart. He wants to save the world, but he's torn up with guilt about Ozpin, he struggles with trust issues, and he's the 'shoot everyone and sort it out later' type of person.

Jacques may be a manipulative, abusive control-freak, but their disagreements put Jacques on the right side of the argument most of the time. Yes, he's right for all the wrong reasons - self-image, personal power, PR - but he's absolutely right about the impact of the embargo on the rest of the world, and he can see which way the wind is blowing when Ironwood puts Atlas into lock down.

Meanwhile, Ironwood is a working example of 'the road to Hell is paved with good intentions'. He's trying to do the right thing, but he's heading right into Benevolent Dictator Station with Tyranny Stop lying just around the corner. He's already threatening Jacques solely on the grounds of it being pointed out that he's very swiftly amassing too much power for a single person.

So, yes, Jacques is somewhat stereotypical as the nasty man, but he's been given a better role than a walking stereotype would normally be given, namely that of seeing exactly which direction the protagonist is falling in and becoming something of a Cassandra when warning about it precisely because he's the last person in the world who has the right to be calling out abuse of authority in others. And while Ironwood isn't quite abusing his authority, he is sniffing around the boundary line.

Do we know how long RWBY's going to last? I don't really see it ending anytime soon, there's still soooo much left to explain. Our heroines need to get a few levels in badass, too.

No, we don't. I've watched several interviews where these questions got asked (both before and after Monty died), so here's the summary of what I've heard them say:

Monty had the entire story worked out on notes and had discussed the entire story with others, such as Miles and Kerry and a number of other people (and sometimes he spilled the entire story to people late at night after drinks or caffeine-addled work marathons).

He, Miles and Kerry had solidified around 5-6 volumes worth of the story before Monty died (as in, which part of the story would work as the first five volumes story), but the story from start to finish was easily 20 volumes-worth (according to Miles and Kerry). On top of that, Monty had also plotted storylines for characters that made it to adulthood, in event of there being enough appetite for the story to continue beyond the original plot line.

Somewhere in Volumes 1 & 2, Ozpin's voice actor apparently came up with his own head cannon about Ozpin and mentioned it to Monty, Miles and Kerry. Apparently, the gang really liked that and went back to the story to see if they could work it in. We don't know what that idea was and we don't know if it definitely got worked into the character's back story. We do know that Ozpin is the most well-developed of all the characters in the show (in terms of back story).

When Volume 2 was designed, they decided they were trying to squash too much in so split it across two volumes (Volume 2 & 3). Somewhere between Volume 2 and 3, Monty came up with the concept of the Four Maidens, so Volume 3 was rescripted to include the Maidens. That happened before Monty died. Miles and Kerry have indicated that the story has needed very little tweaking to include the Maiden concept - Volume 3 was tweaked a bit, obviously, but it doesn't sound like there was much tweaking needed at all to be able to fit the Maiden concept into the story.

In fact, the interview where Miles and Kerry mentioned this left me suspicious that the original storyline had some kind of plot hole or plot problem and coming up with the Maiden idea solved the problem. That's just my guess and how I'm personally interpreting what they were saying, but it seems to me that if an apparently brand new idea doesn't cause too many big changes to the original story, it's because there was some kind of hole in the original story the new idea slots right into.

Miles and Kerry don't really like being asked how long the show will last for because they said the number of volumes the story ultimately ends up being will depend completely on how much content they put into each volume, and they don't finalise how much content gets pushed into one volume (or taken out for later volumes) until they're actually writing the episodes.

So, we don't know how long the show will last, but the writers do have the entire story and extra story material for extensions should there be an appetite for it.

[up][up]That's my wording. If I remember rightly, Miles and Kerry talked about 'when the girls reach adulthood', which could make us assume that Team RWBY will definitely make it to adulthood. Since that could be a tease, I didn't want people thinking I'm claiming the writers indicated that. I therefore decided to assume that anything might happen and that anyone, potentially, might die.

@Saiga: I agree Weiss had to be punished for her outburst. That woman was a bitch for sure, but she didn't deserve to get assaulted by Weiss like that. What's the point in imprisoning Weiss, slapping her and rubbing it in her face, though? Weiss damaged her father's reputation badly enough; it's probably better just to get rid of her and send her away if she cares that much about the Vale. It's just my kneejerk opinion, though. Weiss is one of my favorite characters next to Ironwood, Sun and Qrow; I hated to see her be treated like that, heh.

@Wyldchyld: Oh man, that's actually a very insightful post. I was so consumed with hatred towards that man, I did not quite realize he was right, for once. As much as I'm salty about Weiss getting slapped by her abusive asshole of a father, he's not as badly written as I thought he is.

Ironwood certainly means well even if his methods are questionable. Hell, I think he's Properly Paranoid. Professor Lionheart is most likely allied with Salem, after all. Ironwood suspects she has some very influential allies, but isn't quite sure who's supporting her, in my opinion. I'd do the same if I were in his situation, tbh. It's tempting to become an autocrat when you're fighting against great evil. That cliffhanger sure gave me a lot of think to about.
