I fixed the link, it's supposed to be just to the work/trope page in question. As for the image, I'm neutral on it...it's a great example, but there's nothing to exactly indicate to anyone not familiar with LOTR that Sauron's soul is actually in the Ring.
That is just Just A Face And A Caption (JAFAAC ought really to be autoexpanding)
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThere's absolutely nothing about that picture that shows the trope. Being the "prime epitome" of a soul jar is just Fan Myopia. It doesn't matter how famous YOU are with it, that doesn't mean it'll demonstrate to anyone else just by looking at the image.

Yeah, there's nothing that shows its properties in the picture.
The imagery would make it suited for Artifact of Doom, but not Soul Jar.
edit:
Oh hey, what do you know? I did not know it was actually ON Artifact of Doom.

I have a message from another time...All the more reason why it can't be used on Soul Jar.
Ha - I was going to say I remembered it having issues with not having artist permission before, but I see that it has it on Artifact of Doom. XD
Okay - GIS turned up this◊, which is not very illustrative once we crop out the text but is entertainingly already on TV Tropes' servers; and this, which is utterly amazing but needs permission.
I then thought to look up Rasputin, and found a picture of him telling you exactly where his soul is◊, and a picture which shows a looks-plausibly-like-a-soul coming out of it magically◊.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableOkay, he second Rasputin picture looks pretty great. The only possible problem is that it might look like him capturing someone else's soul, but otherwise it's great.
I have a message from another time...Would it matter if it's someone else's soul?

Check out my fanfiction!Yeah. The Soul Jar trope is about a wizard or whoever containing his own soul in an object to keep himself from being killable.
I'm not sure if we hve a trope about trapping someone else's soul.
I have a message from another time...It's about the object containing the soul which makes the person immortal. I don't think the creator is relevant to the trope, though it's most frequently the same person.
Check out my fanfiction!Crystal Prison is the closest thing we have, I think.
The Revolution Will Not Be Tropeablethat's actually really spooky. I like it.
Ooo, that's good.
That is pretty awesome.
That only illustrates the 'spirit in a jar' part, though... Rasputin at least implies it belongs to him, and shows he's a wizard.
It would be really good for Sealed Evil in a Can if we weren't already using Pandora's Box there.

The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableEh. I'm kinda neutral to it.
Check out my fanfiction! My opinion is Rasputin > Soulcatcher > Headless Horseman Soul >> Soul Jar card
I have a message from another time...I'm worried 7.4 won't look good at wiki size.
There's some way to connect Conspicuous CG to that soul jar somehow.
I think you can crop out his whole hand in the right of the image, which will allow the soul bit to be larger.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. Not bad... Not sure if it's better, though.
The Revolution Will Not Be Tropeable
I don't know why it was pulled but the accuracy in the prime epitome of the very trope "Soul Jar". I think it should be put back.
