Franchise/Love Live! School Idol Project

Well that must have been interesting... lawl.

So who is hyped for S2?

The heck were those posts about? (And I'd love to know the mod who dropped the banhammer on those posts as there's something I'd like to ask in private.)

Anyway, I'm ready for season 2. And to hype up things, I managed to watch Episode 0—a Season 1 recap episode narrated by Anju Inami (Chika Takami's seiyuu) with added snippets of live performances of the seiyuu of Aqours (who've all become celebrity ambassadors for the city of Numazu).

And that live performance of "Aozora Jumping Heart" featured in the episode...was that from the "Step Zero to One" concert at the Yokohama Arena?

And we're back. Bit of a cheesy start to the new season, but still pretty decent

Episode 2: All the Zura and Datenshi you could ever want. Technically the spotlight is on the first year and third year trios, but who cares about the rest of them?

Ep 3 was pretty good! In particular is has probably the best performance in the series so far. I'm talking about the first one. The second was too generic for my tastes

Yeah, the first song was actually pretty sweet with the Japanese folk music touch, and wouldn't have been out of place in something like Hanayamata.

Episode 4:

Just when I thought seeing Dia's smile in the previous episode was enough, here comes this (Dia-centric) episode to top that. (HNNNNGGGG!)

Troll dolphin is a troll. And speaking of marine wildlife, as soon as I saw that sea lion (poor Riko and Ruby, though), I was instantly reminded of Finding Dory's sea lions. ("OFF! OFF! OFF!") Meanwhile, the sight of Mari giving a group of penguins a bath made me shed a tear for the late Grape-kun. (Rest In Peace, you adorable old penguin.)

Even though it does feel like a re-thread of Eli Ayase's Day in the Limelight episode^Note (IIRC, the training camp episode where Eli also wants to be a bit closer to the younger members of µ's) at first, I did like how the other members of Aqours accepted that they need Dia's take-charge personality to get things done.

Also, I guess Dia scratching her Beauty Mark is the new "Umi poker face"...

I hate to say this, but why we removed Sunshine's Ho Yay page..?

The reason said on it was 'Spam'....

Since it was flat out cutlisted and accepted by the cutlister we cant even look at the history.

Is there anything on the Ask The Tropers or YKKTW that list the reason for deletion? This might set an ugly precedent for other works with Ho Yay, like the original Love Live!...

Is it still possible to revert?

Making a post on Ask The Tropers would probably be the best. I know nothing about it.

I'm not sure if there's any kind of cleanup regarding fictional works with Ho Yay pages over at the Projects: Long Term/Perpetual fora.

Also trying to find the specific request for cutlisting, but so far, no hits. Not even a discussion on why it should be deleted, too.

Looks like its back up now.

Looks like the page had its content replaced by a spambot, one user cutlisted it for being spam and then another restored the original content, which wasn't seen by whoever approved the nuke.

Couldn't even view the edit history before it was nuked, so only the mods could say for sure.

Anyway... Man, there's gonna be this undercurrent of melancholy after episode 7. Sure, Aqours are on their way to the Love Live finals (taking first place in that last qualifier, to boot), but Uranohoshi Girls' School was unable to get the required 100 enrollees to keep the school open... I've started to like Chika a little more after episode 6, so seeing her at her lowest point in episode 7 kinda hit me hard. At least until the remaining students of Uranohoshi encouraged Aqours to go win Love Live.

There really isnt a point for them to go now, if they win it will be a massively hollow one. No setting the stage for subsequent clubs for going, no displaying their trophy, the sense of victory even will be gone, no nothing.

In fact it will likely feel worse if they do win.

And I already did.

It feels like a lot of Sunshine's big plot moments come from taking what School Idol Project did and doing the opposite. This one at least led to discussion on something new

Also, as a northerner, the amount of skin the girls were showing was kind of horrifying

Also, Ruby holding a steel railing with her bare hands in the middle of winter. Hope her palms weren't sweaty... or the sweaty skin would stick to the railing in the cold. (Not sure if Ruby used the same hand lotion used by that "fashionably impractical" schoolgirl in that posted pic.)

That said, I do love seeing Ruby get her much-awaited Character Development besides the throwaway line mentioning Ruby knows how to make costumes and being Dia's "shy but cute" little sister.

So S2 is over but I hear we've still got a movie left to go

Didn't really enjoy this season all that much. I just don't find myself capable of caring that much about a school, which they emphasized more than the individual characters (thus, my favourite episodes were the St. Snow ones). Also didn't appreciate how little focus actual idoling got, though it did have some great performances

If there's ever a third series (not season) they need to change things up. Have a cast that's not composed of expies. Maybe focus on multiple groups. Get a different writer
