It might just be me, but it just shows Palpatine being there. I'm not sure if that's helpful, because I know people that haven't seen Star Wars.

Granted, one of them's my brother and he's seven years old, but still.

I fixed the link in the title; you have to enter it in CamelCase.

+1 to pull; clear case of JAFAAC and the quality's crap.

Indeed; another pull vote. I already culled the terrible "Most Triumphant Example" caption. The image was only added yesterday, by the way; anyone want to PM L Shaw?

Previous threads. Man, we don't get the 14-pagers any more. :P

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

Give it the axe. JAFAAC.

Pull it and put a "no image unless you go through IP" tag. I can't think of anything not JAFAAC. The best I can think of would be a joke image.

I actually thought it was Yoda. Clearly just a character standing there, and even with popcultural osmosis it fails the "Neutral" aspects...

^ No it doesn't, Neutral Evil means roughly "selfish". Palpatine is a good example. (Bad page image, though.)

I picked that image as he clearly is a good example of that alignment; if you disagree then brushing up is needed on Neutral Evil I guess.

I'm happy is someone finds a better pic.

Clearly a good example, yes. Clearly a good illustration, no. Even if you can assume some knowledge to be above Fan Myopia for Star Wars, his specific alignment isn't one of them (other than plainly Evil).

Protip: Being a "good example" is not as important for images as is "being a good illustration".

I was responding to "it fails the 'Neutral' aspects" (it is not a good example), because yes it is, and specifically said "but bad page image". The "fail" observation is inconsistent with having read the trope description.

What about Alucard, from Hellsing? His only loyalty is to Integra. Other than that, anything goes.

We would have a hard time picturing that.

It shouldn't be that hard. It's Alucard. You know, that guy that causes tidal waves of blood.

Surely we can find SOMETHING.

Ahh yes, the great debate on picking an image for Neutral Evil comes back to life. I remember a few years ago we had a huge thread on choosing a suitable candidate, with examples including Satan, Maleficent from Snow White, and a ton of others. Problem was that none of them were iconic enough, and most of them kept fitting mostly into Lawful or Chaotic territory. I don't know how Palpatine got chosen.

Ignoring "which character", what kind of image would illustrate the concept? Someone smirking evilly and looking like they don't much care while others suffer from their actions?

Now I'm feeling like Black Mage from Eight Bit Theater would work as an image. He says that he's aware of morals and ethics, he just chooses to ignore them.

Or am I considering the wrong trope?

I think that, like many trope examples, this need a comic as trope Image.

Too bad i dont know any example, but i suggest not having a character like Alucard or the Emperor as it.

To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.
