Anyway, back to Fingerless Gloves (we can't get too sidetracked).

If nobody wants to sponsor the drafts (or has the time for it), couldn't we do the TRS method of dewicking, saving examples, and yarding the trope ideas instead? We can set up example-catching sandboxes and link them.

I'm planning to launch my Sinister Spy Agency draft soon, so I could start one if you'd like. Which one do you think would be good to start?

Hmm. Well, the two we need are Cool Gloves and Hobo Gloves (or whatever we end up calling them). I guess just pick whichever you're most interested in.

Sorry for possibly side tracking the thread again, but I'm tempted to stick Vapor Wear on the sandbox, if only because most of the on-page and subpage examples are basically X is obviously not wearing underwear or a bra without any meaning given, and I doubt the off page examples are any better

...is that what that actually is? I usually just see it potholed interchangeably with Stripperiffic, and I try to avoid reading fanservice pages themselves.

Which would imply that, yes, it might need a look at, albeit later down the road.

I think I am ready to get back to doing work on tv tropes at least for now (I don’t know how much I can get done with mobile buut). I don’t think I will put any energy on new TL Ps (particularly for clean up projects) for a while now. They just take up too much energy and I don’t like how waiting on drafts to launch slows down the thread.

I think I’ll focus on cleaning the wicks like War Jay suggested. I will move anything salvageable I find to the Hobo Gloves draft or any other drafts that’s open right now.

I don’t think we can turn Fingerless Gloves into a disambiguation until Hobo Gloves or what other tropes launch so I guess that’s why we have to wait for them? Honestly maybe we can just use broad supertropes like Meaningful Appearance to fill in the gaps.

I'm not sure what to do beyond cleaning wicks... though maybe at this point all we really can do is hunt for every Hobo Gloves example, and every "Cool Gloves" example.

So, I don’t think the way we have been working on the Appearance tropes has been for the last year or so. The thread doesn’t have the interest and manpower that it used to. Me and a few other people have chip away at one trope for anywhere between 1-3+ months at a time (especially when we need to split off new tropes or remake old ones with TLP drafts).

I don’t know. I feel it would be much more productive to discuss problem tropes at length and then make separate TRS threads for them if we decide it’s needed and then everything that’s just clean up maintenance, creating/splitting off new tropes, wick checks can stay here. I think tropes (that have wick check + have been discussed previously) that don’t need potential TL Ps or splits should have their own TRS threads.

I know the purpose of this thread was to have one central thread for all appearance related tropes because they were a systemic issue and we didn’t want to clog the TRS with them but we have a 50 thread limit so that won’t happen again so I don’t see an issue with allowing some appearance tropes to have their own thread.

That's a fair point. This thread used to be able to tackle a lot more, because it had a lot more manpower.

I wouldn't be against retiring this thread in favor of moving appearance tropes back to TRS, similarly to how the Trivia thread was retired in favor of taking those proposals to TRS. I don't think the problem with appearance-related non-tropes that caused appearance tropes to be moved from TRS to here is as bad as it used to be, anyway.

Similar threads, like the Badass Tropes one, are also dying out and could be closed down as well.

I haven't really looked at that thread much, but since TRS seems to have attracted a decent amount more users than when I started posting there in 2017, I wouldn't be against just using TRS for all this stuff instead of fragmenting the projects.

- Hmm... Well, Action Girl has a lot of Sub-Tropes... Which could be sorted into sections and Missing Supertrope-s spawned to cover some bases?

Sooo, since there has been no progress on the Hobo Gloves TLP and no one seems to be interested in making TLP for Gloves Of Toughness/ Gloves Of Coolness, I think we should just shelve it for later and work on a trope that isn’t going to take as much manpower to fix.

The Hobo Gloves TLP is in good shape.

Not sure if we are going to close or not but we might as well try to get Fingerless Gloves done while the thread’s still open.

I haven’t looked at the draft for a while so I thought it still needed examples. It seems ready to launch to me. I think I’m going to bump it.
