Fuck it, why not?

Name: Guan Yu

Age: 52

Species: Human

Gender: Male

Appearance: This beard right here (comes with a free dude).

‘Verse: Dynasty Warriors (7 specifically)

Personality: Guan Yu is an honorable man. He values loyalty and honesty, and won't hesitate to help someone in need. He despised traitors, and will usually not rest until they are brought to justice. He values his family and friends above everything else, and would sacrifice himself for them in a heartbeat. He is only partly humble. While he will always insist that his brothers are better than he is (though at different things), he believes in credit where it is due. He won't bring attention to his exploits, but if they are brought up, he won't try to lessen their significance as he views doing so insults those that died during said exploits.

Powers:

  • Physically very strong, His strength and skill in battle eventually got him the nickname "The God of War".

  • Has a high tolerance for pain. Note that this simply means that he reacts to pain mildly, not that he doesn't feel it.

  • Is a master of the guan dao. As such, he can cut people a full blade length away from the actual blade (not counting handle). He can also use a sword or a spear competently, though not to the level of the guan dao.

  • Is competent with a bow, though he prefers melee combat.

  • Can use a very powerful strike that leaves a slightly jagged blue line in the air behind it, which hits the target multiple times. He generally uses this as a finishing blow.

  • Can strike hard enough to create a whirlwind in front of him (musou attack 1).

  • Can strike hard enough to create flames in a circle around him (musou attack 2).

  • In order to use a musou attack he has to either become near death or build enough momentum by killing enemies.

  • Can increase his damage dealing and resistance for a limited time. A small spurt of flames pops up below his feet for a second when he does this.

Equipment:

  • The Green Dragon, his personal guan dao. Has no special traits besides being exceptionally forged and extraordinarily resilient.

  • Standard issue Shu armor underneath a green robe.

  • Wooden Bow with 15 iron arrows.

Background: Very little is known about Guan Yu's early life, and he isn't in a hurry to explain. The earliest record of him is when he met Liu Bei. He, Liu Bei, and Zhang Fei became fast friends, and soon swore their Oath of Brotherhood in the peach garden behind Zhang Fei's house. The first battle the brothers participated in was against the Yellow Turbans, and though the rebels were soundly defeated, their leader (Zhang Jiao) predicted that Liu Bei's naivety would end up destroying his nation.

Guan Yu rose to prominence when he slew Hua Xiong, a warrior said to be second only to Lu Bu himself, in a single blow. He and his brothers then fought Lu Bu to a stand still, which eventually caused the mighty warrior to retreat.

The trials that Guan Yu and his brothers faced after Hu Lao Gate were many, but eventually they got a kingdom of their own, which they named the Shu (well, Liu Bei named it Shu-Han, but everyone else just called it Shu since no one cared about the Han anymore). This began the Era of the Three Kingdoms, and era of turmoil that lasted over a generation. During this time, Guan Yu became known as the "God of War" for his inhuman strength and skill. He also became the leader of the 5 Tiger Generals, the five best warriors in all of Shu.

Currently, Guan Yu is preparing for tomorrows march against Fan Castle, which (if successful) will give Shu a vital foothold on the path to invading the kingdom of Wei, and bring his dream of a Land of Virtue in sight at long last.

Extra Notes: Despite being over 50, Guan Yu looks like he's in his thirties, and is in peak physical condition. Also, his time as a soldier has scarred him somewhat, because as we all know, War Is Hell.

  • Name: Adam Jensen
  • Age: 34
  • Species: Post-human
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: "I never asked for this..."
  • 'Verse: Deus Ex Human Revolution
  • Personality: In general, Adam is a loner with a professional, no-nonsense attitude and a standoffish sense of curiosity. Though he rarely displays any strong emotions, he has a strong affection for those close to him and a high regard for innocent civilians in danger. He is resourceful and tends to believe there is more than one way to achieve a desired outcome.
  • Powers/equipment: long list incoming (some bits lifted from the Deus ex wikia)

-Hacking implant: Implanted in the cranium, the MHD-995 Hacking Device is a dedicated microcomputer module featuring a series of processors and databases, programmed with multiple code-breaking and counter-cryptography subroutines. When deployed, the hacking device provides immediate assistance to any user attempting to bypass, shut down or otherwise override electronic systems via a standard terminal interface. The unit is capable of identifying and providing I-War intrusion solutions for over fifteen million discrete software barriers

-Radar system: Probably self-explanatory. A built-in radar for tracking enemies beyond sensual range.

-Infolink comm package: Implant in ear and vocals allowing auditory radio communication without fear of being overheard.

-Eye-know retinal prosthesis: Artificial eye implanted with a heads-up-display showing vital signs, ammunition and other important stats.

-Wall-penetrating imager: Retinal implant that allows Adam to see through walls and low density objects.

-Cybernetic arm prosthesis: Prosthetic arms with enhanced strength, allowing Adam to improve hand-to-hand combat, break through weak walls, endure higher weapon recoil, lift and throw heavy objects

, and have steadier aim while moving.

-Implanted rebreather: Rebreather concealed in the chest cavity, allowing Adam to breath airborne toxins for up to an hour. Also pumps extra oxygen into cardiovascular system, allowing Adam to sprint for longer periods of time before becoming fatigued.

-Typhoon explosive system: Built in anti-personnel weapon that electromagnetically launches 10mm stainless steel balls in a 360 degree shock wave, essentially turning Adam into a human frag grenade. He will only have enough ammo for three uses in this entire story however.

-Icarus landing system: High-fall safeguard that utilizes an electromagnetic lensing field to push against the earth's magnetosphere and slow Adam's fall, allowing him to fall from any height (within reason). The field may also be used to knock out enemies from above.

-Reflex booster: Also self-explanatory. Improves Adam's kung-foo fightan.

-Glass-shield cloaking system: Turns Adam invisible for a certain amount of time. Can sustain invisibility for up to 35 seconds at max battery charge, and seven seconds at lowest charge.

-Sarif series 8 energy converter: Internal energy cells that power some of Adam's augmentations, including his reflex booster, strength booster, typhoon and cloak. In the game, Adam has a maximum of five energy cells, each of which are drained when Adam takes down an enemy, breaks down a wall, uses his cloak or typhoon or throws a particularly heavy object, and, except for the last cell, Adam can only recharge his cells by consuming an energy bar or energy pills. For this rp, I shall have them drain at an estimated rate whenever Adam must invoke extra prosthetic strength or his reflex booster, and, due to a lack of augmented energy bars, each cell will recharge at a rate of one cell for every twenty seconds.

-Dermal armor: A micro-thin material implanted beneath the dermis and over the surface of prosthetic limbs, providing a measure of protection from bullets, blunt trauma and sharp objects.

-Cybernetic leg prosthesis: Artificial legs from the thighs down that allow Adam to sprint faster than regular humans and jump up to three meters in height.

-Arm blades: Razor sharp blades built into Adam's prosthetic arms for when he needs to take an enemy out close and personal.

-Non-technological skills: Adam is adept in stealth and is hardened by years of experience as a police officer and swat team member. He also possesses skill in close-quarters melee fighting

-Potential weaknesses: An electromagnetic pulse can short out Adam's augmentations, rendering him a mere mortal until his systems reboot. Furthermore, despite all of his powers and dermal armor, he is not Nigh-Invulnerable, and is likely to succumb to sustained damage or be utterly crushed by immense objects

as any regular human being.

-Equipment: Adam is armed with a 10mm Zenith handgun with laser sight, detachable silencer and 80 ammunition, an FR-27 Sanction Flechette Rifle with 150 ammunition and ammo capacity upgrade allowing 30 shots in a single magazine., a PAX-22 long range tranquilizer rifle with 20 tranquilizer darts and target-leading system, four fragmentation grenades, two knockout gas grenades and two emp grenades.

  • Background: It's getting late, I'll complete this later when/if I'm told Adam is accepted.

  • Extra notes: Interestingly, Adam has something of a hobby assembling and learning about old-fashioned clockwork mechanisms.

  • Name:Bowser, King Koopa
  • Age: He's agreed to be in his mid-30's, though due to his reptilian physiology, he could well be in his mid-70's. Reptiles are funny like that.
  • Species:Koopa
  • Gender:Male.
  • Appearance: You try describing that without looking insane.
  • Universe: Mario-verse
  • Personality: An archtypal villain personality; Aggressive, insanely greedy, staggeringly vain, and almost suicidally persistent when it comes to something he wants. He's rarely the type for subtlety and strategy, preferring to overpower and overwhelm his adversaries and allies alike. It drives him crazy not to call the shots. That being said, there are a few amiable traits in him; he's loyal and (somewhat) caring to his legions of koopa, goomba, boo, and plant monsters, going so far as to forgive them if they've tried to kill him beforehand. He's more than capable of working with heroic types, having teamed up with Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach on several occasions, though it was always out of self interest.
  • Powers/Equipment: A model specimen (or a vile mutation, depending on who you ask) of the Koopa species, Bowser is in-between eight and ten feet tall, reasonably clocking in at no less than than a ton. Add sharp teeth, claws, and the ability to breath flames (either in the form of a jet, or a contained ball) from his mouth, and Bowser makes for an absolutely terrifying opponent in battle. The fact that he's capable of jumping at all, much less the fifteen or so feet he usually makes, is nothing less than a miracle. His spiked shell renders him largely impervious to being attacked from the be back, contributing to his overall massive durability. He's shown some aptitude towards black magics, though he prefers to rely on his physical capabilities in battle. Any magic or magic device he's using usually going towards either giving him a physical boost, or mutating lesser lifeforms into subservient monsters.
  • Background: Having been raised and trained by a powerful sorcerer Koopa, or Magikoopa, named Kamek, Bowser's irregular physiology took hold early, if not from the day he hatched. He was rarely disciplined as a young Koopa, using his prodigious strength and magical prowess to mistreat, overpower, and ultimately conquer others. By the time he was an adult, his position as king of the Koopas was well secured. Though for all he had, all the castles, all the technology, all the strength.....there was one thing that remained outside of his reach; Princess Peach Toadstool, ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom. Never the type things like courtship or diplomacy, he invaded the Mushroom kingdom and kidnapped the young ruler to keep for his own. He was not, however, without match. One day, a diminutive plumber named Mario had launched an all out assault on his land and his forces, clearing out several of the castles he'd taken during the invasion. It wasn't long till the two figures fought each-other personally. After a long and arduous battle over a massive pit of lava, the plumber had managed to get past him and cut the supports of the bridge they'd been fighting on, sending Bowser headfirst into the lava. For the first time (the first of ''many), Bowser knew defeat. It would most certainly not be the last, fortunately. Before too long, Princess Peach would be kidnapped again, sparking a cycle of kidnappings, battles, and conveniently placed deathtraps that'd persist for years on end. It was during one of these kidnapping attempts that Bowser was spirited into the city.

Transformation.
  • ‘Verse: Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt.
  • Personality: She is obsessed with rules, believing that they will solve the chaos of freedom. Compared to her sister, Scanty, she is calmer and more level-headed and reserved. She does, however, fly off the handle when the rules are disparaged. She blushes quite easily, and cares deeply for her sister; perhaps too much. She is intelligent and has better control over her emotions then her sister. She employs elaborate traps and trickery to fight her opponents, but is still powerful in a straight up fight.
  • Powers: She can turn her black kneesocks into a pair of black and gold scythes called Double Gold Spandex. She can use these proficiently, and can spin them around her body similar to a helicopter rotor, or combine them into an axe or large throwing weapon. She also has the ability to bestow bad luck on people.
  • Background: Kneesocks and her sister, Scanty, worked for the mayor of Daten City, Corset, in attempting to flood the city with ghosts and unlock Hell’s Gate in order to take over Heaven and Earth. During this time, she had multiple encounters with the Anarchy sisters and lost every time. She was in the middle of spending time with her sister when she ended up in the city. She is definitely a villain.
  • Extra Notes: She rolls her Rs. And may possibly have minor shape-shifting abilities, though it is unknown.

@Grey Star:

When you say "amazing amounts of punishment", just how protective is his armour? What sort of buffs/de-buffs can he use?

Also, just how much more power/pain tolerance does his Beserk Mode have?

@GG, Firock:

Gotcha.

@Convoy Butterfly:

As awesome as that sounds, I think kicking buildings out of the way might be a tad too powerful. tongue

What are the Finger attacks, BTW? I'm only familiar with Shining Finger and that's more a second-hand thing than because of actually having watched the series.

Also, tromping around in a giant robot might make things a little too trivial, so I'll ask for that to be removed.

Otherwise, Domon Kasshu is good to go!

ghhhhg

I considered going for Candle Jack, but there wasn't much I could do with him. I considered Invader Zim, but GIR would have to accompany him and there doesn't seem to be any rule about secondary characters. Vezon almost convinced me to play him, but I decided to go for something different. Then I got most of the way through writing a signup for Boris the Animal, but I don't know if I want to play him that much.

So now, I'm at an impasse: Vezon, Boris the Animal, or Dexter Douglas and Freakazoid. Any advice, anybody?

@Lizard:

I do have a rule for that, but then I realised that I had been an idiot and tucked it beneath an entirely unrelated rule as a sub-rule. I've taken it out from under there and added a sub-rule to it.

Here's the relevant text:

As an additional point, you are allotted one character only unless your character would find it impossible to operate on their own.

You may wish to check the rules section again for extra information.

His armor is strong enough to bounce off lesser projectiles or softer melee weapons with ease (though he still feels the hits) and muffle explosion damage to a degree. Impacts from things such as flails and crossbow bolts are viable ways to bypass his defenses, much like real life. It's also somewhat resistant to magical attacks, due to itself being magical in nature, though piercing attacks (attacks made to bypass defense) will work on him. Most of the time, his head his an easy target because the helm only comes into play during Berserker Mode too. Much like real world armor, sneaky enemies can still score hits between the cracks of his Freiturnier too. Being magical, he can repair it by investing copious amounts of Mana into his Guardian Stone. Doing so will weaken his stamina and endurance, which is proportionate to how much damage he needs to repair.

Chung's shouts can instill a sense of extra courage in himself and allies, making them resist intimidation better. His debuffs are when he uses his shouts to mess with his opponent's hearing organs. This can cause them to be put off balance or make them more susceptible to fleeing if they aren't particularly courageous or at least struck nervous. By infusing Mana into his shouts, he achieves the equivalent of a Fus Ro Dah, though he'll need time to recover his voice for the next bout.

In Berserker Mode, Chung's power changes in a way that can be described as "flinging a man a few feet away from you" to "flinging a man clear across the room". Enemies will find themselves more often than not knocked onto the ground or up into the air by a very irate Chung. His pain tolerance at this point is very high, though he can be put out of commission if you do such things as break his leg in a way that he can't stand and resume battle.

  • Species: Ronso (lion-man)
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: The Ronso are large (more than two meters tall) lionlike humanoids with prominent horns on their foreheads. Kimahri's was broken off sometime in his youth.
  • ‘Verse: Final Fantasy X
  • Personality: Kimahri is a Proud Warrior Race Guy, fiercely protective of those he views as weak. He talks little and smiles even less.
  • Powers/Equipment: The Ronso hail from the towering Mount Gagazet, the harsh conditions and polar climates of which give them great strength, endurance and agility, wielding polearms to great effect. They also possess a mysterious ability to learn and later use the abilities of enemies they encounter (this ability also restores them slightly). Having faced a great many foes in his life, Kimahri can now breathe fire, shield his comrades, inflict horrible curses on enemies or even channel explosive magics when his wrath is sufficiently aroused.
  • Background: In his youth Kimahri was mocked among his tribe for his diminutive size and later outcast when he could not accept his defeat in a duel. He met a dying man protecting a baby girl, who charged the Ronso with bringing her to safety. Kimahri did so, nearly at the cost of his own life, and has since aided the girl in her quest. Following the near-complete destruction of his tribe by a reality-challenged madman, he became its leader.

Going by what was shown in the show, which admittedly is a little bit over-exaggerated. Can we just settle with "Domon is really fucking strong"? And I wasn't planning on using the God Gundam much if at all, so I'm fine with shelving it.

The Finger attacks that Domon knows would be Shining/Erupting God Finger, Shining Finger Sword, Erupting God Slash, God Slash Typhoon and Choukyuu Haou Den'eidan. Basically all of the ki/martial arts based attacks that his Gundam can use, only lessened in power due to not being used by a giant robot. Is that okay?

  • Species: Human, though Freak is ambiguously so
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: Dexter Douglas, nerd computer ace. Freakazoid, strong and super-quick.
  • ‘Verse: Freakazoid
  • Personality: Dexter is pretty much your stereotypical nerd. Intimate with computer know-how, hopeless around girls, and easily scared by the bizarre things that happen in his life. Freakazoid is very silly, extremely perturbed in fact. However, despite his goofiness, childlike wonder and short attention span, he's loyal to his friends and heroism, and he can get take care of business when he has to.
  • Powers/Equipment: While Freakazoid is in control, he has enhanced strength, and the ability to move at lightning speed. His senses are also enhanced, to the point where he can hear a monk raking his garden in Tibet, and to the point that the smell of 'poo gas' is one of his greatest weaknesses. He has also been known to perform telekinesis while angry.
  • Background: Dexter used to be an ordinary teenage nerd, living in 90's Washington DC with his absent-minded parents, his jock brother Duncan, and his cat Mister Chubbikins. That is, until the Christmas day that he was given a Pinnacle Chip as a present. The chip was designed by Apex Industries to enhance computer performance, but it had one bizarre flaw. When Dexter used it to access the internet, his cat walked over the keyboard and wound up pressing an exact sequence of keys. When Dexter tried to delete the string, the Pinnacle Chip overloaded, and opened a powerful energy vortex that sucked Dexter into cyberspace. Bombarded by the energies and information of the world wide net, Dexter was transformed into the lunatic information being called Freakazoid. From that day on, Dexter could change into Freakazoid by saying the words 'Freak Out', and Freakazoid could change back by saying the words 'Freak In'. Freakazoid used his newfound powers to become the superhero of Washington, upholding truths, confounding villains, and getting all the girls.
  • Extra Notes: Freakazoid also has his own car, and his own secret hideout. I'll leave it to the GM's discretion whether or not either make it over to the city.
