D) All of the above.
"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min KimLike Western cartoons, particularly 1940s shorts.
Don't generally like anime.
My favourite cartoon gag is Daffy Duck's bill being in odd positions when he gets shot. That cracks me up every time.

'All he needs is for somebody to throw handgrenades at him for the rest of his life...'They both utilize the same principles of unrealistic slapstick comedy portrayed as a series of images rapidly shown in sequence to give the illusion of movement. The only real differences are cultural.
I don't particularly care about gags in either Eastern or Western animation.

E) None of the above.
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia! The best Looney Toons take slapstick to a new level.
Stuff like Whats Opera Doc, or the best of the Rabbit Season trilogy really take those overused gags, and constantly rework them to be funny again.
Even stupid cartoon gags can be something brilliant.
So I would prefer these, for the sole reason that I've seen them used well. It's much harder to use a overused trope to it's absolute fullest and awesomest potential like those cartoons do, then it is to just lampshade or subvert them. So when I see an Anime that I find to be incredibly funny, brilliantly written, and... well, art, that DOESN'T subvert these tropes, but instead uses them, I will change my mind.
Or maybe this anime already exists! If so, tell me! I don't know enough about anime.
Go play Kentucky Route Zero. Now.There was a gag in one of the Duck Season/Rabbit Season shorts where Elmer shoots at Bugs and peppers a mug of molasses he's holding, at which Bugs remarks 'I didn't think molasses would run in January'.
Oh, it does, Bugs. It does.
'All he needs is for somebody to throw handgrenades at him for the rest of his life...'Anime gags are okay, but I prefer Western gags.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."I remember watching a decent amount of strictly-comedy western animation years ago... but I've seen almost nothing from this category since the early 1990s.
While I have learned to appreciate humorous anime-manga, most of the series that I like aren't focused on comedy or nonsense. For instance, I like Squid Girl, but in small doses. Nichijou has its moments, but most of the series is kinda forgettable.
You know what I love? When anime characters get hit in the head and then they instantly have a bandage. When that happens in western cartoons, it's usually with much more elaborate bandaging, but I like the subtler approach to this gag more.
‽‽‽‽ ^These are interrobangs. Love them. Learn them. Use them.Cartoon gags such as Anvil on Head, Ash Face, and the Looney Tunes version of Hyperspace Mallet are classic and fun. Anime gags are often strange and non-indicative (why the hell does a sweat drop pop up in someone's head when they are embarassed?).

"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."I prefer my gags to be European. They produce better quality gags, rope, etc.
I chuckled.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."
Do you prefer character getting hit on the head with an anvil or a basin?
Do you prefer characters showcasing their anger by turning their face red or having a vein pop up?
And what kind of mallet do you prefer? One made of wood, metal, or plastic?
That kind of stuff
Yep, I'm still here.
