For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B to Z, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.
For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE) to repeat in the chat.
We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

The pre-show's started. Looks like Sean forgot to create the alert.
Timecop is tonight's movie, and before that, we got more of The Crystal Maze.
Okay, here we go! https://cytu.be/r/TroperCoven

Before we get to an actually decent, fun ensemble comedy tomorrow night... I'm pushing through an utterly abysmal terrible one tonight.
Starring Chris Kattan... aaannd... Chris Kattan. I feel so sorry that this is what Mr. Kattan's comedy career has been reduced to but not nearly as sorry as I'll feel for myself after watching this bullshit.
Here's Crazy Enough.
Just the first few seconds of the trailer made it look bad. First impression set.
Yes, because having one actor play two different people in a comedy always ends well.
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position. It does if the actor is Peter Sellers.
somethingSo we got Retsupurae, Lowtax, and Gamesmaster... followed by Chris Kattan and Chris Kattan.
Be there (or, better yet, don't) at the top of the coming hour for Crazy Enough.

Well, I looked at this thread.
Aaaaaaaand.... bookmarked.
Welcome aboard Walrus! The movies we watch range all across the board, though we tend to focus more on things with an action or horror bent. We do comedies also, sci-fi, and sometimes even kids' movies or animation (which includes animation for older audiences).
Anyway, tonight's movie? It was a unanimous X .
I like to suggest a Batman movie that's not discussed in wider circles, even Batman circles unless it's brought up, called Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. Starring Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, and Will Friedie, here's perhaps the darkest entry in the DC Animated universe:
Side note: If we do do it, go for the PG-13 uncut version.

Love tearing bad movies to shreds? Join us every night at 8 PMI'm familiar with that, but we're not watching anything Batman-related without either Adam West or Joel Schumacher attached. I wouldn't rule out running the 1940's film serial in pre-show again, if we can still find it.
Anyway... Tonight, Joe Pesci leads an ensemble cast in a comedic adventure to deliver severed heads to a mob boss in 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag.
Last time I watched this movie, the Twin Towers were in all likelihood still standing, but I recall thinking this was utterly hilarious fun back when I was 12 or 13-years-old. Surprised to find out that this hasn't received more love from other people, though. Although, this being the first time I'm watching the trailer below, I gotta say this could have been better assembled.
They finally did it. This site is now blocked at work.
I can now only post here either at home or using a phone.
I was thinking of something. Anyone hear remember hearing of the movie It's Pat?
It was, IIRC, a spinoff of Saturday Night Live, a sketch turned into a full length movie based around one single, stupid joke: the fact that people can't tell what sex Pat is.
The movie got scathing reviews at the time. I wonder if we'd have fun laughing at its lame attempts to be funny.
At the same time, it's also an example of humor that may have aged horribly due to our increased understanding of LGBT issues. So, let me know if the idea sounds too offensive.
"It's Pat" is unquestionably one of the worst recurring sketches in SNL history. How it was ever turned into a movie is a mystery to me.
The show itself once made a wonderfully subtle dig about the public reception of "It's Pat" sketches during part of an opening monologue for Mother's Day, where the week's guest host stepped aside and the entire early-90's cast walked out with their mothers side-by-side, in alphabetical order (just as they're always announced in the show intro). Each mom would state her name then follow with, "... and my favorite sketch is '[Recurring Segment Featuring Her Son/Daughter]'." Julia Sweeney, the actress who played Pat, was the last cast member to come out with her mother (following Chris Rock and his mother, who gave a shoutout to Nat X◊), and Julia Sweeney's mom ended with, "...and my favorite sketch is also 'Nat X'."
There was also another very poorly received SNL movie released a year after It's Pat that revolved around future US Senator Al Franken's Stuart Smalley character, titled Stuart Saves His Family.

I'll set us up with some of Electric Playground and Street Sharks.
Then, at the top of the coming hour, Joe Pesci is mafia hitman Tommy Spinelli in 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag.

I can't make it tonight, but I'll be there tomorrow.
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerThe movie wasn't too far removed from what I thought it would be. Pretty much a 2. Some funny jokes, a lot of unfunny ones, and not enough manic antics to keep it going compared to what it should have.
A shame the feisty old lady was thrown out. :(
A lot of troubling news developing overnight, but something hitting all of us far more closer to home now: With the newly revamped MST3K series showcasing our absolute favorite movie Starcrash, Netflix have decided to take down the free YouTube upload that we've all been enjoying for years. Utterly diabolical.
However, one thing Netflix hasn't gotten a hold of that's still freely available on YouTube is the unofficial Starcrash "sequel" that reused much of the "outer space" footage from Starcrash—Escape from Galaxy 3 (aka Starcrash 2: Escape from Galaxy 3, aka "Ripoffception").
So, while we still can, let's revisit Belle Star and "Captain Blingbeard" while we rediscover that all important touch of love.

It may be wise to find this link and [if we can find Starcrash through some other means] to convert the two onto Google Docs so that we have them for future progeny so we don't get screwed by copyright issues. Same thing for any other movie that we have found on Youtube.

somethingSo I was watching the Starcrash episode of MST3K, which led me to look up Candyland, and then I found out there's an hour long animated Candyland movie. No, really. Apparently it Tastes Like Diabetes.

Ew.
Also, the king has 4 fingers on each hand, and the princess has 5. Wtf?
I love how licorice is used as a substitute for evil tentacles spreading across the land. Licorice is the new Eldritch Abomination!

So I got us another episode of Gamesmaster... followed by another old video game show circa ~2005... which took me a moment before I realized it was being presented by the host of Gamesmaster roughly ten years later. Okay then.
And, following that, at the top of the coming hour... Escape from Galaxy 3!

Actually, Ship, we watched that one! I take it you didn't get a chance to see it with us. I watched it on my own first before submitting it to the Coven. "Glorious trainwreck" isn't how I'd personally describe it (that's how I'd describe the Billy Owens movies, which I found hilarious). But rather, just plain WEIRD. One Australian reviewer said that the lead girl's attempts to fake an upper class Australian accent are "hilarious", something that was lost on me, an American.
