Our Next Feature Presentation: The Stuff (10/12)

Join Us Saturday, October 12th @ ~8:00PM (US/EDT) Here: http://cytu.be/r/TroperCoven

For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B to Z, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.

For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote  in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE) to repeat in the chat.

We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

He produced the classic and modern Death Race, Scream 3, and our very own Sharktopus, among many other things.

I thought he was responsible for Sharktopus!

He was also involved with the never officially released 94 Fantastic Four movie, the original Little Shop of Horrors movie (without the color or singing), and an odd early 90s adaptation of Frankenstein with John Hurt and Raul Julia.

So I'll try to be there tonight. Also, Sean, speaking of Twin Peaks, watched the David Lynch version of Dune on BBC America this weekend (the theatrical cut, not the extended TV version he disowned). Realized not only did it have Kyle Maclachlan, Sting, Patrick Stewart, and Dean Stockwell, but also Jack Nance, Everett Mc Gill, and the guy who played Sutter Cane in In the Mouth of Madness. I thought of suggesting it, but the only free copy I found was an Italian dub.

[up]Plus Sian Phillips (whom I, pretty much, would've been named after, if I were born a girl; my parents were big fans of I, Claudius), Brad Douriff, Agent Albert Rosenfield's equally notable father Jose Ferrer, and Michael Madsen's sister, Virgina. Insane cast ensemble all around.

It's such a terrifically absurd sci-fi movie, and everyone deserves to check it out. And I can never tire of hearing Sting shout "I WIIIIIILL KILL HIIIIIIIIM!" The only reason I never pursued showing that here is how much considerably longer it is than our more usual fare; even the theatrical cut (which is the shortest version) is over 2 hours and 15 minutes long.

Okay, we're cutting loose with more of the Gamesmaster and Legends of the Hidden Temple.

Then, at the top of the coming hour, we're... hanging out... with David Carradine in Crime Zone.

My dad's really interested in joining us for tomorrow night's movie. He likely won't be on with his own screenname, but instead just in the room with me. But he's interested in seeing the wacky 1960s Batman.

Alright, we ain't doing Kung Fu Friday this week. Tonight, we got an even bigger occasion.

This evening marks Our 1,001st Movie. By the time this night is over, we'll have showcased enough content to fill an entire book.

And to mark this special occasion in style, we're rolling out a surefire hit—Adam West and Burt Ward in Batman: The Movie!

Be sure to tell all your friends there's a celebration going on here tonight.

My dad plans to come. I plan to spread the word too; I'm already doing it where I can. Let's all do our part! Let's hope this at least reaches Cool Cat levels of engagement (that had over 20 people watching)!

Can't make it tonight, sad to say... I would have been here - Adam West is, after all, the greatest live-action Batman - but I got a ton of work.

I'm usually not big on superhero movies, but since it's that Batman movie, I'll get me some cider and chocolate.

I'm trying to spread the word to Batman fans also to invite them to join us. Any of you know some or other places where they might be, let's get the word out there!

I see that you took my cue on the Gotham crowd.

Okay, I did enough shoehorned advertisements. We should have enough people.

Oh, guys, do you know what we should do, sometime?

[up]We watched that series in pre-show a long, long time ago. Was considering running some of that again tonight, but I haven't yet decided on anything.

They're each about 20 minutes. We can squeeze in the first and/or the second, maybe.

I wouldn't miss this for the world. Should I get my parents to watch? My dad is currently out giving out Greens flyers, starting 45 minutes ago and ending somewhere between the hour the movie starts and half past it. My mum is half asleep. Dad has seen the movie before but mum hasn't.

This is actually on my list of bad movies I would like to watch with the Coven. And next to this and the Second Ninja Turtles movie it's probably the VHS tape I've watched the most as a little kid. I recall that at the time I was so young I couldn't understand that the movie, and the TV series, were old and not this brand new thing that had just come out.

Alright, it's a big Batman night here in the coven.

First up, we're running some Retsupurae riff of an Arkham City LP or... something, and a pair of episodes from the old 1943 cliffhanger serial.

Then, at the top of the coming hour, it's the big one, Our 1,001st Feature Presentation—Adam West, Burt Ward, Cesar Romero, Lee Meriweather, Frank Gorshin, and Burgess Meredith in Batman: The Movie!

My dad said he'd give it a 10. It got ★★★★, with 17 of us watching in the end (the peak number of viewers was 19).

Remember, if you want me to make gifs, PM me the timecodes and scenes you want, and I'll get to work!

Well, I was asked to make a GIF of a specific scene from Crime Zone, so I did.

In fact, I made it twice - one shorter, one longer, just in case one looks better than the other. It's from the scene where that angry guy talks throug his teeth.

Short version

Long version

I think the short version is funnier, and I think most would agree. Check out both and lemme know if you think these are good candidates for the GIF gallery, or possibly the chatroom itself.

I wanna say /angrishshsh, but getting the right amount of S's and H's in would be a chore. [lol]
