Lady Gaga doesn't have a general thread yet, and I don't want to necro her Born This Way thread.

Today, she revealed the name of her upcoming album. Artpop. Or maybe ArtPop. Who knows.

Oh, and she also debuted a song called "Princess Die" at a live concert.

So, anyone else love Mother Monster? Any predictions concerning her upcoming 3rd or 4th album?

I love her. Artpop sounds like a good name for an album, and more importantly, a Lady Gaga album.

Did you know that she has her first movie role in Machete Kills as "La Chameleon"? I look forward to it. I guess she already did a Quentin Tarantino reference with the Pussy Wagon in the "Telephone" video, and decided it only made sense to make a film with Robert Rodriguez after that.

I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting Agency

No lie. I am so sheltered from pop music that "Edge of Glory" is the only Gaga song I've heard in full. I caught bits of "Telephone" and "Born this Way" from Todd's reviews.

That's right. Not even "Poker Face".

Great singer, and charismatic performer. Just...Trying way to hard.

Isn't ArtPop the name of a Pet Shop Boys compilation?

On the contrary. She isnā€™t trying hard enough. Call me snobbish but I think a Julliard grad should produce something more substantial than vapid, crassly commercial songs about clubbing; especially if sheā€™s going to blatantly appropriate bits of her image from avant-garde artists.

I've only heard two of her songs in full: Poker Face and Edge of Glory. (I've also heard bits of Alejandro and Telephone from Todd In The Shadows' reviews.) I only heard Poker Face once so I don't recall it, but I did like Edge of Glory.

Also, why does Gaga make videos if there's really no outlet for music videos anymore outside You Tube? (Well, she could go country and get some airplay on CMT or GACā€¦)

Every one makes music videos, but it's partly for advertising and for the art.

@Twentington Vevo/Youtube is as big as MTV was in the 80s now. They certainly don't spend as much money on music videos as they did then, but they're definitely popular.

New information relating to her upcoming album ''ArtPop''. She previously stated that the album will have a more electronic oriented sound - I don't really know what she means by that considering that she has had a completely eletronic sound even before it was popular back in 2008 when she released The Fame. Born This Way is electronic, too, but it had a more electronic-rock oriented sound.

Here's a recent song featuring her. Title should be Zedd ft. Lady Gaga.

@Bananaquit: Eh, have you listened to her albums, especially Born This Way? Still, electropop music is just as crass and vapid as rock music. And every other genre out there. Singing about sex isn't a bad thing and singing about sex doesn't make it vapid. It just means you don't like the topic. And she only had two singles about clubbing and one from an album that satirized the standard pop music released then and the other one you have a point. But that one's video was hilarious.

I actually like listening to Lady Gaga despise the fact her music videos are bizarre, practically pop music videos now these days are,and it's nice to hear some news about her new song. Been actually quite a while since i've heard of her 8 months ago when "Marry the Night" was made. Kesha's not much competition for Lady Gaga anymore now as she was before.

To be honest, an eye catching Music Video can do wonders for a song. For example, I wouldn't think "Gangnam Style" would be nearly as popular without the video.

But back to Lady Gaga.

I think her songs are hit or miss. Loved Just Dance, Edge of Glory and Monster (Plus, I find Bad Romance to be one of my Guilty Pleasures.) Eh on most of her other work. Did not like Telephone or Bor(i)n(g) this Way.

I look forward to see what Artpop has in store

More info: she'll be splitting the album into two EPs, the first will be more commercial and radio-friendly and the second volume will be an experimental pop album.

Seems like she's doing something similar to Robyn and Bjork. I like that direction, especially since those two musicians have shown that there is an artistic element to electropop music. Her obsession with Andy Warhol is back, too, after a two year break during Born This Way's era.

Most fans of her a far more interested in the second volume. The first will probably be pretty generic. I just hope it won't be like Born This Way which had two good singles, one of which flopped (Marry the Night), and the rest of the good songs were relegated to being on the album.

Kind of related: her intro to her first concert tour. Candy muthafuckin' Warhol. I went to that concert tour; it was pretty good. They weren't performed in arenas, but smaller venues. The one I went to was in Atlanta at a small theater.

I fucking love the music starting at 1:13.

Not bad, though that opening synth part really grated on me fast. That'll take a while to get used to. But still, doesn't seem like a bad indicator at all.

That sounds amazing.*

I really hope they release a single disc with both EPs together, though.

Also, ladies and gentlemen: Lady Gaga in a hot dog suit.

Sure, why not. I think the only thing that could be surprising with her at this point is if she showed up in public in a T-shirt and jeans or a dress.

She's going for more unsettling now that nothing anybody will ever wear will top that meat dress of hers. The Smithsonian's been trying to get that for a while now.

Her as a motor cycle. Vrrom, vroom.

So, Lady Gaga's been making the rounds lately trying to get people to vote for same-sex marriage in Washington, Minnesota, and Maryland. She made a political ad about it and will be on the radio to support it tomorrow morning.

EDIT: And she was on the radio today. I haven't found any radio recordings, though, but considering how fucking insane some of her stans are, I'm sure I'll find one.

Her turning into a motorcycle just gives me Utena vibes.

...I should contribute something more meaningful to the thread. Uh. Looking forward to the new album when it comes out. Have most of Born This Way and The Fame. Her being inspired by Andy Warhol makes sense if she's referring more to his pop art works. That just seems like it'd mix really well for some reason?

Born This Way really isn't a good album. Every time I listen to The Fame I can't stand a single song from Born This Way except for Heavy Metal Lover and Edge of Glory.
