I've listened to it a few times now. It's a pretty good song, but it just doesn't fit the story all that well. Yes, Gatsby has his dark secrets, but does Daisy care enough about him to plead for him? Do we even need to ask?
As a song, it's mostly good. The only part I don't really like is the second half of the bridge, specifically the "makes me wanna party" line. It felt very out of place in a song like this, at least to my ears. Personally I like Over The Love more, but I'll keep listening to this one.
Looking for some stories?Oh, I just realized, but will.i.am has his contribution for the soundtrack, "Bang Bang", on the deluxe edition of his album:
...
...Meh.
If this is the worst song on the album, I'll be happy.
It was passable until it hit the full modern part. Ugh.
Looking for some stories?Well, this is one soundtrack I'm not sure I'll be buying.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Hopefully that's the only truly bad song on the album. Besides, most people will probably just buy the ones they like from Amazon or iTunes. I doubt that most people will think all the songs are purchase-worthy. I only care about four or five.

Wrong page. This is the Great Gatsby, not Iron Man.
I have no idea how that happened. I was in the Im3 page and hit post and it somehow ended up here? Weird.
Clearly, throwing parties wasn't the only thing Gatsby was doing with his money.
I! Am! Great Gatsby! WANANANANANA, CHARLESTON!!!
Someone write that. Now.
Looking for some stories?-googles-
Darn. No one have written it yet.
I take a Creative Writing class. I will make that my next story!
Let us know once you get started. Thank you, person who goofed up and posted in the wrong thread!
Looking for some stories?Double posting because another new song, Into The Past, has been released.
-sighs- Just release the jazz versions of Love Is The Drug and Crazy In Love already, would you?

Looking for some stories?I think there's enough music to make a TV Tropes page for the soundtrack. I already have a few tropes in mind. (Anachronism Stew, Silly Love Songs, Genre Roulette, Singer Namedrop, In the Style of, etc.)
Should I put it under The Great Gatsby or Music From Baz Luhrmanns Film The Great Gatsby?
Another observation: There's definitely both soft and loud moments in the songs released so far, and with songs like "Together" by the xx, it holds a more subtle quality.

Eh, it's best just to lump it with the film page itself. While there are albums that warrant pages, I'm not so sure film soundtracks fit into that category.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Camp is seriousness. It's one of its fundamental qualities.

This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet. But the thing is, in those cases, the ultimate result is narm (intentional or otherwise). When you're trying to make or tell a story that people are supposed to take seriously, campy elements will only distract from that and decrease the emotional impact of the story.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.I think that how much Camp / Narm this movie really has is yet to be determined. Outside of the party scenes, the only moment I've seen so far that I just can't take seriously is Gatsby attacking Tom at the hotel. Compared to the non-musical parts of, say, Moulin Rouge, the acting looks fairly subdued.
That too.

Looking for some stories?I seriously don't remember Tom ever needling Gatsby that hard.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectOh, I wasn't saying it'd be campy or narmy. I was responding (if I recall correctly, since that post was a few weeks ago and I don't feel like looking back again) to someone who was hoping that Baz would bring some camp to it. Something like that.
Honestly, if nothing else, we can look forward to Scenery Porn and what appears to be decent acting. (Though Leo is still gonna have to sell me on playing Gatz when the movie comes out, since I still don't think that was a good casting choice.)
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Sia's track for the soundtrack just got dropped.
Yep. This album has the goods.
I demand an after-credits music video. With Lana Del Rey on the fireworks balcony, and Leo breakdancing in his white tux.
I'm a skeptical squirrelWon't that kill the impact of the ending? I mean, it kinda takes away from the tragic payoff of Gatsby's romanticism if we see him breakdancing.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great
And Lana Del Rey's song is now out. It's currently on iTunes...in the UK.
Thoughts? Does this fit the book?
What stands out is the first part of the bridge, which carries the implication that her man might not get into heaven without her pleading. Mr. Gatsby does have skeletons in the closest that are never completely explored.
(However, I think this song was written before being chosen for the soundtrack. I think she mentioned in in an interview.)
