Poor Image: Monster.Anime And Manga

What happened to the old image? (manga panel from Monster)? This one is tiny and impossible to tell what's going on.

EDIT: Oh, duh, it got moved to the appropriate work page. Still, this image sucks hardcore.

Damn, one user has been going around putting up Complete Monster images, blatantly ignoring our Special Efforts thread on it and uploading spoileriffic images. Going to have to go through all of them.

That same image from the main page was on the Naruto Complete Monster page as well. I replaced the Naruto page's one with a higher quality version but left the main page alone. The old, (and much better) image from Monster is still on the Monster- Complete Monster page. (This is getting confusing..)

I did however replace the Bleach page's image without a thread. That was my bad; I wasn't aware there was some big kerfuffle about that particular page going on.

Looking through the other pages, Berserk, Code Geass, Digimon, Fist of the North Star, Fullmetal Alchemist, Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakusho are all JAFAACS.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is an image macro. One Piece has some quality issues, and the caption is wrong.

Berserk's pic can't be made work-safe, considering exactly what happens. The others I can agree with. The guy's just assuming we know who these guys are. Kinda bad, considering the only ones I know out of those are Jagi and Femto.

I've pulled all the anime images. I have no idea what that guy was thinking.

Alright. Now let's try and think of a good replacement for Johan on the main Anime and Manga page.

The first pic, combined with a juicy bit of dialogue for the caption and some sort of potholing regarding the Hitler comparison, might be a pretty good option.

No, it's not clear the man on that image is a Complete Monster. The only thing that's clear is that he's a Nazi analogue, and Nazi analogues do not make good Complete Monster images by themselves.

Flat "What"... The easiest way to say "Complete Monster" is make a person an analog or Fantasy Counterpart to Hitler (if you avoid making it comedic), especially making it like that image.

The easiest way is to show them doing something horrible.

Strip that image of all context and your personal position for a second. Would you immediately think "Yep, this is a Complete Monster" instead of "Yep, this is a Nazi/Hitler", or perhaps "Yep, this a villain"? Nazis and Hitler are villain fodder to the point where that real, antipathic reaction you're implying is there has been lost. They're now stock villains, or their traits have been stripped down and selectively assimilated and become stock villain traits. In the end, this is telling me nothing about why he's a Complete Monster; it's telling me he's a fantasy Nazi and my basest interpretation is that he's a villain. At no point do I or will I ever assume this person is a Complete Monster instead of another Nazitastic villain if all you give me is this image.

...and really, I hate that mindset where "this guy is evil because he's a Nazi/Hitler or something." Never before have action and context ever been devalued so much as in the occasion when only a simple comparison or analogy is needed to represent them.

It has to be Johan. Who else, really?

There is no one who has to be on the picture. The important part is that the image is good, not that the example is. Well, very simplified.

What about that fellow holding a gun to a kids head that used to be on the main page?

Looks like Complete Monster Classic to me. Oh, and there's only one type of Complete Monster. This was always the perfect pic for the trope.
