Your earliest gaming memory

How old were you when you first started gaming? What's the first gaming-related thing you remember? Discuss that, go nostalgic and maybe even have fun doing so.

I was about seven or eight years old, playing Sonic The Hedgehog 2 at my friend's house. They all loved it before I played it, and I didn't see what the big deal was until I played it. Over 18 years later I'm still hooked on gaming.

I have many. I grew up on gaming. Some of the earliest would have to be playing Jazz Jackrabbit on the computer in the den, or playing Sonic on our Genesis in the living room. Those were fun times.

I always will be more of a PC player. My brother and I used to break our consoles by pulling them off their supporting platforms when we were little.

Probably 3 or 4. Played a lot of Metroid 2 and Tetris on my Game Boy Brick.

Playing Super Smash Bros on N64 at my babysitters house when I was about five. I thought dying was the best way to lower your percentage

Playing (the title screen of) Mario Paint and Super Mario World in kindergarden.

A Pong box atop our family television, complete with paddles.

Playing Pac-Man at the laundromat.

Either Playing Links Awakening or Pokemon Red on my Game Boy Color. What sucks is that I managed to lose the former game someplace. :(

My earliest was when I was 2 or 3, watching someone play Outrun on the Sega Master System... Outrun did come out on the Master System, right? But I really didn't start playing until I was around 6 on the original Nintendo...

If educational games count, I remember playing Reader Rabbit on the computer when I was three. When I was about four or five, my grandma bought a Sega Genesis for my brother and I to play when we visited her house. We would play Sonic 2 for hours. The first game I ever played and beat on my own was Crystal's Pony Tale. I was (and still am) ridiculously proud of the fact that I did it all by myself without asking my brother for help

The old game Alley Cat kept me entertained for many hours as a wee lad.

Playing the original Super Mario Bros on the NES and being unable to even get past the first Goomba.

I have two depending on the definition of "gaming".

First was me age 3 being a veritable god at Toy Story Matching on the computer. My parents had friends over who would get their asses handed to them by a three year old. Sure they were drunk, still doesn't stop it from being fucking hilarious.

If that doesn't count, then Pokemon Blue on my Game Boy Colour. A game that is forever ruined for me by the incesant bitching from the Genwunners.

I remember playing some really old games on the PC back when I was five or so. If the PC doesn't count, then I definitely remember having a Sega Genesis and playing Sonic 2 with my sister at around the same age.

When I was less than 3, I was deleting my dad's saves on A Link To The Past.

Playing Donkey Kong on a Coleco Vision with a black-and-white TV when I was four years old. Oh, I'm not an old fogie or anything, we were kinda poor (it was 1995). We did end up getting a Play Station shortly after though, and my first game for that was Destruction Derby.

I must have been 3 or 4. The first game I can remember playing was some simple monochrome thing where you pressed a letter on the keyboard and it would display an image of something starting with that letter while playing a song on the PC speaker. The first "proper" game I can remember playing was Commander Keen.

Playing Sonic the Hedgehog 2 at age 3. This pretty much made me the Sonic fan that I am today.

Watching my mother play Sonic when I was a wee little baby. My first game that I played myself was Dragon Quest 3 at about 4. I had her read everything to me. It annoyed her greatly.

Playing Elite on the BBC Model B, or watching some of the cool kids playing it anyway. Hell of a huge time gap between that and me getting hold of my very first Playstation and playing Final Fantasy VII.

If I believed in god, or pretty much anything, I would have described that as like looking on his or her face.

oh, and arcade games. None of which stick in the memory as much as that did.

The original Digimon World, I believe. I may have just watched my brothers play it though...

I seem to recall liking games like Commander Keen from a real young age. The exact age in which I started gaming, I don't really know...

I had an Oddysey 2 with eight games. One of them was called Monkey Shines and I never understood it, another was some sort of war game where one player was a human and the other was an alien. I can't remember the other games.

But yeah... the Oddysey 2 was my first console. DAMN I'M OLD.
