The very tragic and unexpected death of Flannery and stuff.

So... Over at the main Pokémon thread we've been discussing a potential Fan Fic about Flannery's gym erupting (being a volcano and all), horribly killing her, and her family, friends, and the Pokéworld in general trying to cope with it. Candice freezing and Burgh drowning in honey may or may not be involved.

The only reason I have created this thread is because I first suggested the idea, but I won't help much because I'm not much of a writer. Ah well, discuss!

Well maybe Flannery was fixing up those steam jets or the water system she uses to create the sauna-like environment in her gym? Thus the cause of her death.

Well, let's plan this out. First thing is definitely Flannery.

Then second is Burgh.

IF we keep going, we can all come up with stuff.

This is to be Tear Jerkers, mainly, right? Gruesome details, sad friends/relatives, ect. >:D

Where does this go and who writes it?

I guess we'll collaborate ideas and come together on one universal agreement. I guess we'll need a writer to then put it together?

Edit: Will we just stick to gyms with dangerous hazards or also include tame ones as well?

I suppose we'll test the waters with the original idea of Flannery being incinerated in lava, and if things work out nicely we proceed with more?

We need a one shot, but one that packs a punch. We need to set the tear bar very high people!

Yeah, I guess we should start with finishing Flannery and depending on the reception continue from there. At least so we don't over plan for something that might not happen.

We'll need a good opening that makes a reader feel a connection to her, even non-Pokemon fans.

Or you could make it multiple chapters and have the main characters go back in time using Dialga and saving Flannery and stuff before the volcano erupts. Oh, and some evil guys are in there somewhere.

One of the family members at the funeral has to be her grandfather. It would be interesting to see what E4 we could make him apart of and give at better description of who he is.

As weird as this sounds, what about her Pokemon? I don't think an eruption alone would hurt fire types (they've been portrayed handling lava all the time in various media) but there's a chance they could be crushed or suffocated by gases. Either way, I'd portray the surviving Pokemon like kids who've lost their mom: sad and confused, and maybe only barely understanding the idea of death. That would make some solid Tear Jerker material.

Something like a sad scene of her beloved Numel poking around the gym's ruins and wondering when his trainer was going to come back.

What would Flannery become, by the way? Just completely melted into the lava with no macroscopic remains?

Though we only have plans to do this one and possibly a single sequel, with all others being purely possibilities at the moment, what other deaths could occur? I still say Falkner could fall off the gym platform and crash rather painfully to the floor.

Sabrina could die from a teleporter malfuction while closing the gym for the night. Resulting in her getting telefragged or Portal Cut in half or something.

Wallace could get swallowed by a Wailord while trying to leave Sootopolis and slowly digest to death.

Roxanne could be doing magnetism stuff, such as training her Nosepass/Probopass, or possibly some rock research, and just so happen to be standing directly between a powerfully attractive magnetic force and a deadly sharp piece of metal.

Also, Pancake vehemently says no killing Bugsy, but if we were to, he could die alone in a forest from poisonous stings from Beedrills/Drapions.

Wow, this is dark. If we do ANY of this stuff it would somehow manage to be disturbingly sadistic, depressingly sad, and yet hilariously over-the-top.

Or he finds food somewhere but it turns out to be poisoned. Rest of the fic is Bugsy slowly dying of starvation POISONING SORRY
