https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZQNlbihmfs - Hunt Down The Freeman(Jimpressions)
Jim talks about Yakuza and how it does open world right.
Basically, the main thing behind Yakuza's philosophy that makes its open world better is that they focus more on making smaller, but comparatively very dense worlds, with uniquely written sidequests with distinct characters, tons of weird and hilarious minigames, etc. The games actually re-use a lot of assets, but they do that so they can focus their effort elsewhere and not as an excuse to put in as little effort as possible.
I've heard the Yakuza games were good but I had no idea they were so delightfully quirky, I'll take Jim's glowing praise of them as a recommendation.
Nothing like a game where you decide you're gonna set out to do something, travel one inch, and get sidetracked helping a dominatrix who is too passive for her clients.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse Alberiadon't forget a bowling competition where the lovely lady attendant will buy you a turkey dinner if you score three strikes in a row. Who then buys a live chicken and our hero not wanting to murder the chicken names him nugget and puts him to work as a manager in his real estate buisiness....
no i am not making that up
" I did the right thing, didn't I? It all worked out in the end." "In the end? Nothing ends, Adrian. Nothing ever ends."Dunkey talks about the same thing in his Dunkview of No Man's Sky. Smaller, more dense worlds are more interesting, because there's so little empty space to get bored in, and where NMS sucks is that it's so huge but so sparse, with nothing anywhere near anything else, and all of that stuff is just underwhelming.
Qui odoratus est qui fecit.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZafyZLE_-HY - CNN Editorial Claims Games Are 'Virtual Boot Camps' For Mass Shooters
The Nineties called. They want their moral panic back.
Qui odoratus est qui fecit.Of course it's CNN...
Of course, they're parroting that not because they believe it, but because the media is in the pocket of corporations like they've always been and they need to find a scapegoat so the NRA would stop getting uncomfortable questions.
I mean, if you're actually that concerned with the training a potential mass shooter can get - ban gun ranges. That's not a thing I want, but it's a thing their idiotic brand of "logic" brings to. Every time some soccer mom or a pocket Republican brings it up - one should coutner with gun ranges.

I would say trump was right about CNN but Trump is also going along with the "video games cause violence routine" so no.
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?Clearly both sides suck, at least here.
It's been 3000 years…Yep just another reason I don't like cable news.
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?Someone at Sony stopped injecting shit between their toes to do some quality control.
After seeing some clips of the alleged game, I think the dude involved missed his calling as a comedian.

There is a special place in Hell for people who have the sheer audacity to sell this crap to the public.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Sadly, that place is called the Steam storefront.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984I would call those games Shovelware, but then again, that sounds like an insult to actual shovelware—at least, those that contain some So Bad, It's Good qualities.
Of course, the eternal shovelware-related question remains: "Is it worse than Big Rigs?"
(Note: I did read the actual Useful Notes article while posting this, and it turns out there is a mention of "asset flips" there.)
"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."Big Rigs was laughably broken. This game is broken in an unfunny way.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Well, most of the Steam Greenlight (and later, Steam Direct) asset flips are just...So Bad, It's Horrible.
I did have a laugh at Jim's review of Piccled Ricc, though. And of course, how can I forget Age of Barbarian Extended Cut? (That Rahaan face... )
"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."The difference is that Age of Barbarian, despite its manifold issues, is a game that was actually made with a modicum of love (haha, he said cum).
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.
Still better than Dynasty Warriors 9.
EDIT: No, no one needs context.
